Matthew should admit Destiny child scandal helped them become the biggest selling group ever if Letoya Luckett and Latavia Roberson were not kicked out they wouldn't be the biggest group ever to hit worldwide. Clever strategy Matthew Knowles deployed to use Latavia/Letoya/Kelly for Beyonces development and confidence as a child to make her secure in her skin as a child than kick 2 original members out when any recognition of the group comes Letoya/Latavia make noise/fight for their rights this gives Queen Bee fame making Beyonce sell. Really she a average R"B singer even from the group Kelly has the most melodic voice hence the Nelly Kelly dileama duet would work while it wouldn't work with screaming vocals by Bee. Don't get me wrong when she came out in "No No No" her vocals and look was up there because she had been invested on but any other member could have sang it. Kelly Letoya and Latavia were spokespeople of the group as Beyonce can't talk even though she upper middle class not street really but they were there used for her confidence why didn't she come out when Aaliyah, Brandy, and Monica were there? Obviously the scandal was used to sell and make Beyonce famous there were so many R"B groups in the 90s 702, Blaque, Brownstone, Envogue, Jade,TLC etc, Scandal sells Matthew Knowles a a marketing genius if they never kicked out Latavia and Letoya Destiny Child would have been a talented but in the R"B sector known band like Brownstone and not trying to get the status of Spice Girls, and TLC. Technically if Jennifer Lopez didn't sell her booty and her beautiful image in the R"B sector Beyonce would have never gone far as a solo artist. She relies heavily on image and for the pop worldwide market technically JLO opened her up as before it was based on a singer being a actual singer especially in the R'B sector. Kelly Rowland is so beautiful and technically more talented,real. If Kelly wasn't there no Beyonce bit like how if Damon Dash wasn't there to help Jay Z in business terms and expanding his market to the wider world Jay Z wouldn't be as pop and known by your Grandmothers and little kids. They wanted to be known worldwide and accomplished through stepping on people mediocre talent or does scandal sell you decide? Matthew Knowles is a corporate business man who only looks after his own i.e. Beyonce

I live in the UK too. LeToya's debut single Torn was actually a top 40. It was also top 40 in New Zealand.
Considering she never sang lead in Destiny's Child and was replaced in 2000, LeToya has done an exceptional job of building her own, very successful solo career in R&B music.
She must be commended. US R&B artists don't get promoted worlwide anymore.
U.S RnB artists sell more in the UK and Australia than anywhere else.

I love how LeToya answered the questions from reporters. She handled it with such class and respect and didn't get her emotions get in the way.
LeToya is not remembered as the girl who left Destiny's Child because she never left.
She was replaced controversially without her knowing.
Like I mentioned her first album DEBUTED in it's FIRST WEEK of sales at #1 in the US, which is a huge feat that only a few female artists have managed.
LeToya is part of music history simply for that feat, nevermind that her last album with Destiny's Child, The Writing's on the Wall is one of the biggest selling albums by a female group.
All of them are beautiful in their own way. But I must admit Letoya and Latavia have grown to be such beautiful women and each found their own success.
I really like Letoya she seems to be the realist and most honest! Plus she stays on her grind! She's my favorite member outside of Destiny's Child next to Beyonce!
These girls were teens when the group was split up. The group was managed by Matthew so they didn't have much say in the process. The girls had every right to ask for another manager if they wanted to. It's unfortunate that LeToya and LaTavia were painted in a bad light, and we, the public, were suckered in by it. They were kids. They didn't deserve that. But it was business above all. And the negative publicity pushed DC to the next level because their names were in everyone's mouth. But over the years, Beyonce, Kelly and LeToya squashed their differences and expressed their feelings about the loss of the friendship they once shared. I was super excited to see LeToya start her solo career and do well. She deserved that. They all played a part in making DC successful. It wasn't just Beyonce(although she was a great lead singer because of her unique sound), it was a collective effort. There were songs that I loved where Kelly was the lead singer. Their best album was "The Writings On The Wall," and DC never had that vibe again after that. Although I liked DC3 as well, the original DC was more R&B than pop. At the end of the day, everyone has moved and are doing their own thing. And Matthew no longer manages any of the girls anymore.
Damn u are sooooo RIGHT. DC4 was R&B & simply the best lineup of Destiny's Child. "The Writing's on the Wall" was EVERYTHING & after Toya & Tavia were kicked out the music was never the same except for "Independent Woman". I could see Toya & Tavia recording that song.
Jay Aye I didn't know what the hell was going on when I saw the video for "Say My Name". I was confused, mad & clueless but I thought Farrah was just sooo beautiful...lol. I kinda let her slide a lil but then she left. But LaTavia was always my favorite.
First off all these were TEENAGE GIRLS...How could too GIRLS think that they could continue in this group with another manager? lol That's so stupid. They were under contract with Mathew Knowles New World Music and only about 16 at the time. Stupid decisions that those two thought of. The proper thing they should have done is asked to be released from the contact and the group if they were so sick and tired of the Knowles family run group.
Eric7001, 1. They were 18. 2. That is what they did; they sent a letter asking to be released from their PERSONAL management agreement with Matthew Knowles... Personal meaning solo manager, not their group (Destiny's Child) manager.

People always talking bad about Letoya because she was "Kicked Out" of Destiny's Child, but they don't seem to realize that she is the only member of Destiny's Child that is a platinum selling solo artist, Aside from Beyonce obviously.

Destini X Shakur Kelly doesn’t have a platinum-selling album, just a platinum-selling single. However I think LeToya had more exposure and concentrated more on music than film/tv, she would have more platinum albums and singles

Kelly sings lead vocals on almost everyr Destiny's Child single and most album songs. Michelle also sang a lot of leads on their last album.
LeToya was only ever heard on harmonies. Also, Kelly and Michelle made their solo debuts with Matthew Knowles and Columbia - under the same umbrella that DC was under.
LeToya had to do it ALL on her own as the ex-member of DC who no one knew could actually sing on her own.
LeToya has a great career in music AND as an actress. She's already done two films

I'm sure it still affects her the break up, but its 16 years later. They all have matured and her talking shit about Bey is kinda pointless now. I have friends who did me dirty but years later i forgave them. is it and will it ever be the same? no, but you can tell when someone is genuinely sorry and feels bad. What she said is true, none of them would be where they are now if they didn’t start together. DC3 was great, but DC4 was iconic, bug a boo, bills, no no no, it took everyone’s voices, looks, and struggles to get there. Letoya was strong and smart enough to profit on that and come out with torn. Genius. They all deserve recognition, and I would love to have heard from Latavia more. But all members were great. ( not counting Farrah, sorry )
