- A sighting that won't be forgotten anytime soon.
While on an early morning game drive we came across a pride of lions on a wildebeest kill. They were interrupted by some unwelcome guests who came closer to investigate.
Rhinos: Hey lions! One of our babies is missing! Have you seen him?
Lions: Ummmm, yummmm, nope!
Hyenas and leopards eat lion babies very often
Even the big lions is like "Hey" Big Boy, We don't want no trouble.
The one lioness was pretty badass for standing her ground and not backing off the kill
She was the Alpha female (the true leader of the Pride). They're smaller than the males, but usually extremely crazy. They rarely back down from anyone or anything. That rhino would have been bitchslapped to Neptune if he had gotten too close.

Rhinos don't know their strength and this is what a lion feel happy to capitalize.
In a fight between lions and rhinos, lions will be losers. Rhinos will recover from injuries, but the lions will be too crippled to hunt.

Well, they can, nothing stops an animal like that, even elephants have a hard time if they wanted to. Saw a clip were a grown elephant stomps a rhino to the side, but that rhino just keeps standing so easy (looked like it).

The 2 male lions got their fill that's why they gave up so easily, that one female didn't so she wasn't letting go.

Some observations: 1) one lioness had a lot of guts (apparently, very hungry and stood her ground); 2) lions will not take on a rhino or an elephant (as apparently, this case, the lions can also count); 3) the king ? of beasts (big cats) split before the lionesses.
They had already eaten. There was nothing of value left to fight for there.
But they also attack babies and young rhinos and elephants. In Savuti (Chobe, Botswana) they have specialized in killing elephants. In other areas they attack hippos more often. Lions will adapt their hunting techniques to the dominant prey.

I'm glad there was no blood shed. Those were experienced Rhinos. They seemed to know if all 4 stood close together and didn't back down the Lions would yield. Even though one didn't have any weaponry. 😮

The lions did something to anger the rhinos because lions and rhinos are not friends. The rhinos showing up was a "show of force" not an investigation.
Animals don't have gangs. They could have just as easily been checking to see if it was rhino they killed for curiosity's sake.
So interesting that wild animals sometimes like to just mess with each other, as in play, when they know there is no real danger from hunger... Rhinos know the lions just had a feast and are ready to sleep...pretty funny!
There's also a sense of confidence in the Rhinos since they also had some strength in numbers incase shit went down.
Lions also surprisingly didn't seem too bother.
Both probably reading each others body language and deciding to not run or engage, but just walk away eventually
Also the fact that at least more than 3 lions are required to bring down 1 rhino, and that's if they're really out of options

@@frozenflava Yup the only real threats to Rhinos are poachers and they are the most dangerous predator of Rhino just for their horn and they dont even need to kill them but they do anyways.

Even old Scar would not dare attack those 4 rhinos. I saw he tries to blush, but rhinos move closer and he got up and leave. Rhinos skins are very thick. Rhinos are like tanks. They weight at least 1,200 lbs. Full grown adult lions weight about 500 lbs.

I find incredibly revolting that the only reason lions need boy lions in their groups is because without him, another boy lion will sneak in and kill their babies, which in fact, when a new younger lion defeats and expel the previous guy lion who became old, the first thing the new one does is kill the babies so the girl lions become fertile again and in heat so he can impregnate them and continue his own lineage 😡

When boy lions grow up they need to leave pride expelled by the alpha male lion, then usuallyin couples, usually siblings or cousings from the same pride, look for another one with an older male lion to expell him and take over that pride, then they will kill the babies to force the girl lions in heat again to be impregnated and carry their genes, while the male lion that was expelled usually goes to exile and die cause he can’t hunt
