It was bound to appear on this list and I’m happy it made it this far! Also, it‘s incredible how well it fits Mizu even though they weren’t even created in the same generation. It really feels like they took that map into account when designing this monster.
Even though Mizu was added to the Misty Peaks retroactively, i think he still fits his map better than Glavenus with the Jurassic Frontier, despite the fact that the last two were mutually made for each other.
Because it probably is. Mizu was definitely a "3rd Gen representation" monster and was made to be the "Yukumo threat", just like Astalos was for Kokoto and Gammoth for Pokke. Since Yukumo is also japanese inspired and it's literally associated with the Misty Peaks, Mizutsune was automatically made to fit in them.
@linfa_mh Yeah, it‘s very likely. But even then it fits it‘s designated map even better than the others. Astalos is a flying Wyvern similar to Rathalos but it doesn’t scream Forest and Hills. Gammoth definitely looks like it‘d do just fine in the cold but I sometimes feel like the Arctic Ridge is a little to small for it and Glavenus does fit very well in the Jurrasic frontier although again, I think Mizu does it a little better. I’m just happy the bubble fox got such a good home to call well… home.
Well each of the fated 4 was intended to symbolize a generation so mizu is the clear personification of GU's love letter to 3rd gen. I still think that zinogre and his theme intentionally contrasting with it, to make him stand out as the flagship, is more iconic with this map though.
Glavenus would be lovely in the Tri Volcano, huh. It's got the burnt out brown Uragaan arena I'd like to fight it in, especially if it was proper 4th gen smoky. Also you're totally right that Gammoth is too big for Arctic Ridge, Great Shadow. It's a pretty small map for anything. I hadn't really internalised that that was why I didn't like it but yeah, it's basically got three zones and they're all kinda small, now that I think about it. The rest is paths or an occasionally used nest.
The misty peaks is well...peak. you get everything you'd ever want from it. Great visuals, Great roster of monsters, Great soundtrack, Amazing vibes and it never gets boring. Truly a top 5 worthy map. God what I'd DO for a remake of this map.
To any and all W.C.H.A. members. you might have noticed that there's a new member! I'm happy to announce that "theidealofgreed" has joined us! And for some reason they're obsessed with getting a, and I quote "fish documentary" idk why they're so obsessed with that but hey! Who cares right? At the end of the day we have a new member! (Btw has anyone seen linfa_mh or lander? It's rather strange they haven't submitted their three picks yet...has anyone informed them about our super duper awesome event?) *Yawn* ugh I'm tired... I'm taking a nap brb.
@@Viper-Zealot Yay, to a new member! I believe the fish documentary is a running joke on Ragegaming‘s channel and for Linfa and Lander I think we might have to inform them ourselves. Now that you say it though I haven’t seen Linfa in a while so they might be a bit busy right now.
I'm here to inform you that I'm aware of the super duper awesome event (and I'm not busy at all, just didn't have anything to say about the last few maps featured in these videos), but don't have anyone to bring with me, therefore I'm afraid you won't see me at the above-mentioned super duper awesome event. I'll be looking at how the event plays out tho and say something if needed.
@linfa_mh That‘s great to hear! I sure hope those tranquiliser Christmas Hats work though. Also, now that your here, what maps are you hoping to make the top 4?
@@G1eatShad0w The gorgeous Coral Highlands and the goated Jurassic Frontier for sure are my picks. Frozen Seaway is definitely my favourite ice map by far, but I'm fine with the Tundra appearing for having the best theme and nostalgic feel. Then idk, Ruined Pinnacle? I don't care too much about it but at the same time it has some of the best-looking areas in the franchise.
The moment when I first properly fell in love with the Misty Peaks was when I did my first quest at night there in GU. I just remember loading into the camp/starting zone and looking over the cliff to the smaller mountains and the cloudy sky with a huge yellow moon. It’s such a beautiful map, especially at night
Incredibly iconic map. Since Portable 3rd wasn't officially released in the US, this map has always felt like an "extra" Zone with how it wasn't available until High Rank in 3 Ultimate before becoming a staple locale for Generations but NOT coming back as part of Rise. Even then, it's still able to feel very comfy like a home away from home. If this is FIFTH? I can't wait to see what's 1.
Such a gorgeous map. Always love how soft and yet vivid the colors are here compared to the shrine ruins more calmer tones. Plus its monster roster is pretty comfortable in terms of scaling as well. My only complaint, mostly in relation to how safe it is. Is when it was implemented in 3U, made me wish they added an underwater zone at the huge lake zone. Would’ve added a fun flair for Plessy and Ludroth when fought there.
Misty Peaks is one of those things where I know it’s good, great even, but I’m not super fussed about it. Cool design, fun layout and monster roster. I just don’t personally care about it that much.
Capcom really unleashed their artistic side with this locale. It's just so beautifully breathtaking and the music is sublime. You can easily picture someone dancing under a cherry blossom tree with petals swirling around them during that climax. Mizutsune may as well own this locale at this point
HELL FOCKING YEAH!!! BEST THIRD GEN MAP RIGHT HERE!!! (no, I'm not biased as this is Mizu's home map, why would you say that) The Misty peaks just has an absolutely gorgeous look to it. I also love how much each of the battle zones stands out from each other, they all have a vastly different aesthetic from each other which, for a 3rd gen map, is really impressive.
Misty peaks is another one of those maps themes I just adore. Oh, I forgot that was a thing, with misty peeks also having some of those more fall colored trees. Seeing it now, both handle fall like tree colors really well. The steppe being more fully fall colored and the peaks not quite there yet. It's a beautiful middle ground and a beautiful aesthetic. But yeah the misty peaks being above the ancestral steppe, overall, I totally understand. Man, iamagine if they fleshed out this map, in like a WIlds type game. Keep the few main zones but maybe add one or 2 and just make some fantastic traversal between them to connect it all. When duramboros returns, I hope they use him in a game with a more detailed set of destruction physics. I want him in a forest zone with a ton of trees. Where he can just spin and not only do you have to dodge his tail but you also have to dodge the trees he knocks over and said trees may kill a few small monsters or hit large ones too. The trees falling with proper physics, from his tail spin, knocking them over. Banbaro getting a log out of the ground in the vaguely foresty zone is one thing, I want duramboros to actually destroy trees in the zone and for them to take a while to respawn. Have duramboros just knock down a tree, out of combat, ever now and then because he knocks down trees to feed on the bark. Yeah, zonogre is perfect for this map. The map theme fits the Japanese aesthetic of the game perfectly... So a flagship who's theme was specifically composed to stand out and clash with that aesthetic is perfect for it. Going from this softer very Japanese style string instrumental vibe to this sudden western rock inspired track, with that electric guitar, really lets you know zinogre has entered the zone. I still find it hilarious that zinogre's track only exists the way it does because they feared he would not stand out enough, as an Oni/raiju wolf, with battery bugs nesting in his fur, and being a new monster classification/skeleton. How in Gog's name does that not stand out enough? Yes, mizu fits but zinogre's dev history and the intentional contrast of the themes is iconic to the map.
It's a great map. But it really just made me appreciate the maps earlier in 3u. It's interesting that despite Zinogre being the apex of this map, he doesn't have anything unique that he does? Even Nargacuga has a tree that he sleeps in here.
This is a good map, great even, but I unfortunately associate it with certain monsters that were VERY painful to grind. Namely, Azure Rathalos in 3U (cuz he wouldn't drop that freaking mantle) and G-Rank Hyper Silverlos in GU. _Shudder_
I love the Misty Peaks! Definitely my favorite of the maps in Gen U I have encountered so far (still trying to finish that game before Wilds, but that is looking increasingly unlikely). The colors are gorgeous and the Japanese vibes are perfect! Such a shame it didn't appear in Rise, even if why is more than understandable. Almost all of base Rise's monsters would fit in here perfectly. Needless to say, it is very much so a map I would want to see remake in the Wilds style and scale. There is plenty of room to expand the map too, considering the low zone count

I like how for Portable 3rd, Gen and GU, they had 1 opportunity to make a great original map, and they nailed it with the three games
(GU is an expansion, i know, but still. "the three entries" would probably have been a better way to put it)

In a way it sorta comes back for Rise, the Shrine Ruins has a lot of direct callbacks to it.

Facts, that area was perfect for an underwater section

The first time running into Soulseer sleeping late at night in his bubble bath in area 4 was a moment so unique and mesmerizing
YES! My favorite map of all time :,) so glad it made it this far, P3rd has a wonderful visual aesthetic
Gotta be my favorite Green Nargacuga on this list. 🔥🔥🔥

Not surprised it would appear on this list. Honestly a quite beautiful map never played on it though 8.5 out of ten
