Hey JMac, what is your typical duration on your auctions
@@jpshobbystore 5 days mostly
As a seller, I feel like I always get ripped off when I list cards for auction. If I price them low to attract bidders, they never sell for what they’re worth. If I price them at market price, they don’t sell. I’ll continue to list my cards fixed price at fair market value and just be patient for the right buyer.
I’m Learning alot from you my friend 🎉
Good stuff here Jmac!
I see sold auction prices are at rock bottom. Buy it now makes more money.
I've noticed alot of buyers don't leave feedback which is a pain.
Good stuff!!
Thanks
Great stuff
Great way to look at the selling! Good advice!
Just hit 150 sale. And 70 feedback I need this!
Auctions scare me but I learned make sure I you proper inventory for it and time and place
Thanks, Jmac! Just got into eBay selling, and your videos help me alot man I appreciate you!
Glad to help!
Have you had any issue with having to add weightminor= manually to every sheet after exporting from CDP. eBay started giving me errors, once it forced me to do policies.
@jmacsportscards JMac, thanks for the videos. How do protect myself against non payers in auctions? I just started and 2 auctions have gone over $100 and both didn't pay. I have to relist and don't come close to getting the same value. Is it a bad start or bums running up prices?
My last 10 auctions have had no bids - buy it now is king in toys. No one wants to wait for an auction to end
Thank you for the great information!
Thanks for your insights JMac. Another top quality video as usual!
I added a lot of items with your affiliate link. Can you use standard envelope shipping with the rigid cardboard mailers ?
Yes but you have to use the 3oz level as they are "non-machinable"
what’s your process for shipping relic or over 100pt cards what do ya send them in, under $20, or
Great info. Thank you
I usually end up winning 30 items I wasn't even looking for and not winning the one I was looking for!
Auctions are great, except the fact that most people these days ghost when it comes time to pay.
Maybe 1 out of 50 dont pay for me, so not not really an issue...
Man I need your tips. Seriously.
I have bought cards from you before and the card was perfect condition and very safe package Thank-You!
Watched you for the last 2 weeks..got the epson scanner and card dealer pro...have $1,100 in sales and 500 listings on my ebay store in 13 days! Thanks for the info subscribed
I have been really concerned about listing cards on ebay and losing a lot of money.
I didnt know the tactic of gathering watchers then starting an auction. I was always just annoyed no one bought the item.
Hi there. I bought the scanner and card dealer pro and updated to an ebay store based on your videos. Sales are good but i tried auctions with beautiful select football colored die cuts and yeah they sell but u have to give them away at .99. You can get tons of sales if you want to lose money. LOL Only reason your cards are selling so well is because you have become a youtube presence. You deserve the success you are getting because you are really working it but for the most part alot of these card collectors want stuff for free. They are cheapskates. Anyway keep up the great work. Thanks.
Great video! Appreciate the advice!
As a seller are you finding that offers are only coming in with the buyers checkout details attached, so if you accept the buyer is auto debited? I don't know if they are picking on me as a buyer or everyone is getting stuck with this? It has made it so I haven't been able to put multiple offers with a single seller for combined shipping, which has meant I have made a lot less offers and made a lot less purchases. I can understand why ebay may want this method to stop people from offering and then not paying when the offer is accepted, but if you have no strikes on your account for non-payment and a high amount of feedback, why should you be punished (and also cost sellers sales).
If I win a card at auction, I will check the sellers other listings and their combined shipping policy, and make some offers (can't do now) or add other items to the cart (if priced well).
They are expecting to have this rolled out to all buyers by end of July last we heard. Best way is to message the seller and confirm they will refund extra shipping. For cards you also have to remember if they are using eBay standard envelope, shipping jumps from 80 cents to 3.65 if you go over a certain number of cards (by weight) so refunding you extra shipping if you order 10 cards might be $2.50 less back than you expect
@@earlgendron4893 thanks for the information. If they are using PWE shipping I'm not too worried about combining shipping. I would just let them ship separately if I was offering.
It is just awkward but I will reach out to sellers and see how it goes. Most of the sellers don't see these types of messages or so it would seem based on the response rate (when I am not lowballing). Although, I never know whether the seller overpaid to get an item.
I made an offer to a seller who said that they couldn't sell an item cheaper because they spent $1000 to buy the $100 item. They have it listed at $1000.
What do you do in these circumstances? Would you sell at the current market rate or would you hold out? Noting that the item was never worth more than $150.
I consider this a sunk cost. If this card goes up to $1000, it will mean everything will have gone to the moon again.
@@jeffw654 that’s tough I won’t buy a collection I don’t know I will double-triple up on (but I deal more in toys than cards) most likely he’s saying that he paid 1000 for the collection and this was the best card, or that he can’t take offers until he breaks even on the 1000 he spent on the collection which will never happen if he is so overpriced
JMac, CONGRATS on the new partnership!
Hey J Mac first time, long time!
I recently bought the epson scanner and I love it! I love it maybe too much! I’ve scanned up more cards than I’ve ever listed and I was wondering which eBay store level you use and why? Could you do a video breaking down the insertion fees and how you decide what cards to list as BIN vs Auction. Thanks for the great content!
Upgrade as you max out the amount per store
I just ran a month long on eBay of .99 cent cards, because I’m arguing with them over a defect on their standard eBay envelope tracking. My defect rate was 3.13 in February and now 60 good transactions later, I’m still 3.13. So I’m at a loss
This is GREAT Advice...
I always check the sales in buy it now and auction, that determines which platform I use. Base cards listing for 1.00 plus 0.65 shipping, by the time you figure in card cost, eBay fees ect. You make about 0.10 a card. I made a spreadsheet to figure all the cost for me. I believe it’s on my RUclips page. Anyway congrats on the partnership. Disability is not helping me get that scanner, so I’m still. Using a flatbed 😅
Thanks for the comment and feedback. Working with what you got is always the answer.
On the auction, how low the prices I can start? Especially when there ones with no values? How can I make a profit for starting bid for $.01?
Lowest I start is $0.99
Don't be skeered.
😂
For sure keep doing the flat rate boxes, that’s how I get a lot of inventory for my store
great video. When is Card Dealer Pro gonna up their AI game in the soccer cards? I have not had any luck in any cards matching.
But how do I make money if I’m listing $1.99 cards and offering free shipping? I don’t see the gains from it
Alrighty then.
Card Dealer Pro needs to fix the editing options to crop or flip the cards…there has been many times I can not fix the scan because the options are not appearing!
Awesome tips I’ve been wondering what to do with some of the stuff rotting on my eBay store. Gonna lump some together and do lot auctions
Yep let it rip!
I use auctions in my eBay account to boost sales and to does drop more eyes to see what else I have listed as BIN’s. It is an easy way to move inventory and most of my auctions are low end cards. I am at almost 500 active listings right now, and only have about 40-50 auctions running weekly.
Another great video JMac.
I don't make more on auctions per say but whenever I use the auction feature I ALWAYS make the buyer pay shipping so that way I don't lose my butt. 90% of my eBay cards are free shipping but higher end, nicer cards, and auctions I make buyers pay for shipping.
I'll have to try this. I will definitely use your code on CDP.
Much appreciated hope all is well.
Do you still have the bulk topps chrome for sale ?
Question aboutCard Dealer Pro, are you able to upload the pictures of the front and back of the card to eBay?
You upload them to card dealer pro, then generate a bulk listing CSV that has links to those images from CDP that gets uploaded to eBay.
@@JMacSportsCards I look forward to your series.
There are a lot of cards that I want that are buy it now that I watch but put kinda on the back burner because I have limited time on an auction. When a buy it now turns into a auction is makes me poop or get off the pot, lol. Its a smart strategy
Hey bud I know you like Carolina panthers I got a rookie auto Matt Corral numbered 1 of 25 panini prestige. Let’s make a trade I’m a cowboys fan rookie Dak or Romo auto if you got one
Matt Corral will never see the field in Carolina and don't have or want any of his cards, thanks.
I love the videos, started selling this year and this has been very helpful. Keep up the good work and hope to run into you at a show one day~
Much appreciated, be sure to say hi if you do see me!
I love your content I have been watching it all day. I started selling and opened my store in August of 2022 and have only sold 551 cards to todays date. I didn’t know there was a junk wax era and there arnt really markets for certain cards bc of the over printing of them or how to really price them. Yep doing what your doing a teaching us who enjoy the hobby but would like to get into it as a seller what some do’s and dont’s are.
Great video again JMac!
What type of scanner do you use?
Auctions are my bread and butter easly over 90% of all my sales. Usaully for the higher end cards I will list them and after they develop a lot of watchers I will switch it to Auction.
Another great episode brother! I have also started back to running some auctions from my store. Before I got really serious into low end flipping, I was purely auction on eBay. Then I switched over to BIN once I committed to the store concept. What I am finding now is that with the Feedback and Follower growth through my Store, my auctions are more successful when I run them than before. It does definitely drive more traffic to the store (pure evidence is in the Performance reports!😉) One question I have for you...still trying to figure this out based on my results...do you find a day/time that seems to be more effective to start/end your auctions? It seems like Thursday-Saturday are the most effective, but then there are times where I might have an item run up fast right at the end on another day. Curious to hear your thoughts! Thanks again for the great content (and also thanks for the Paul Pierce KU Prizm Draft Blue /249 I recently purchased from you!🤙🏻) Appreciatee you bro!
Have seen good results any day of the week ending between 8-9 pm EST. Sunday might be the exception as there are so many cards that end on Sunday nights from Auction houses and consigners
Put yourself on the other side of the fence, when I am out buying, I concentrate on auctions with lots of bids because that indicates a card that may be higher in demand which is always a good thing. When you sell using auctions, start them at $0.99 and you'll get more bids, it's like a rolling snowball. I agree with you that in my experience, maybe 80% of the auctions sell under the most recent comp, but those other 20% that sell above most comps, sometimes surprisingly above comps, will average it all out to about what you'd get using a BIN with offers. I listed a raw card once in an auction and it sold for $500, I would have listed it in the BIN for under $100, I had no clue that there was high demand for that particular card.
Jason, once again some great information! Thank you. Your videos are what convinced me to get back into selling on Ebay. Since I've started watching your videos and listing again I've slowly been building my sales up over the last month or so. Last weekend I had my best weekend in forever. Enough that I've upgraded my store level so I can start working towards over 250 listings. I'm looking forward to adding in auctions to my listings. Keep up the great work! Hopefully soon I get enough going to start using Card dealer pro also because that looks like an awesome tool.
Thanks and congrats on the growth!
Another great video. I like the idea of the bulk boxes. I do a mixture of auction and buy it now but need to be more consistent with listings daily.
I sold a handful of cards for .01 because silly me didn’t change the auction start price. 🤦🏽♂️ I did eBay standard shipping, so it cost me to ship those cards. Learned from my mistake. Won’t do that again. Appreciate you continuing to share your experiences.
Back in the day when I first started in 1997. All I sold was sportscards and autographs. I had 750-1000 items on auction per week. Auctions were so much fun then. Congrats on your partnership. My Cannon printer isnt compatible when I checked.
Jason, I'm a fan. Enjoy your observations and useable tips much! I just got an EM from ebay saying I'd been automatically enrolled in their international selling. It looks very interesting but I haven't taken a deep dive. Do you have any thoughts on this ebay program?
When I went with FREE Shipping on card auctions and fixed priced listings, sales went up a lot! People see the shipping cost, and they pause. Free shipping listings will always make more money. Like in your example of starting at .99 plus 1.25 shipping. Just start the listing at 2.24 and you sales won't drop. Plus, since the shipping is baked in, you'll gain more if people buy/win multiple listings. You won't have to deal with combined shipping. AND... another benefit to free shipping. Non paying bidders percentage drops. Hard for people to use the "shipping is too high" argument.
Free shipping keeps it easy for combined shipping too. The easier on the buyer, the more sales
I've played around with both and free shipping definitely makes things easier.
I’ve had the opposite experience. Free shipping killed my sales. I had to switch my entire store back to shipping charge.
Too many people want to pay $.99 for an item no matter what so it is hard to make money if you don’t have shipping costs on the cheap items. I did streamline my items into an easier shipping cost and each item is an additional $0.20 to ship.
Free shipping has always been a bad idea 20 years ago when ebay first stated pushing free shipping and .99 auctions the thing is with free shipping if someone wants to return or refund with free shipping you have to refund the full amount so in actuality you will be in the negative because you will be out the shipping you paid that was "baked" in....I'll never bake in the shipping because buyer should always be responsible for shipping and if they want to return it for any other reason then not as described or did not arrive they have to pay the return shipping and they do not get the original shipping sorry been reselling online on ebay Amazon and many others its not worth it doing free shipping if there is a possibility to be In the negative because you have to refund the full price of the item (which included shipping) not worth the risk to me
love the videos and the ideas to keep growing. the hardest thing to do is just start, once you start everything else is just a huddle. i was scared to start selling on ebay and rightfully so. your gonna take lumps and bumps when you first sale but the more you do it the better and easier it gets. but since i started this journey, it's gotten easier. trying new things with ebay is not as scary as it was at first. i started out with a simple goal, 3 cards a day listed. once i was regularly making that goal then look at over metrics like impressions, views, etc. what do i want to improve on, what isn't working, what's something i can do different. challenging yourself to a new goal keeps the drive going. but at the end of the doesn't matter if i sell a $1.49 card or a $50 card, i still take time to celebrate a sell, even if it is for 5 minutes.
I had just commented on your scanner video about doing a CDP follow up too so either my timing was perfect or you made this video just for me haha (probably the former).
Ok JMac I'm in, let me purchase the scanner real quick and I'll use your promo code when I sign up! Looking forward to the series too, let's get it!
Does anyone know if using a flatbed scanner uses up 2 scans per card on Card Dealer Pro since you have to turn the cards over to scan backs?
Too many snippers out there to run auction.
Good video JMac and congrats on the new partnership! A CDP question- do you know if there’s a way for it to flag a card listing when it is over 80 characters long? It’s a little frustrating getting those upload error messages because the title length goes over 80 characters. Thanks man!
Love your videos JMac! Thanks for keeping this hobby alive!
Love the videos. Interested in how you handle having multiple quantities of certain cards. Do you list them all individually or one listing with multiple available?
As for CDP it would be nice to be able to scan and list as a lot and not as singles
Hey I like your videos, I gain a lot of information but I am having trouble with a few things with my stuff is there a way that I can talk in a private message. If so let me know!
Great videos!
Hey I've hot a huge collection are you interested
I think the partnership you announced with CardDealer Pro just put me over the top! I have been debating going with KronoCard or CDP. The fact that I would get the bonus 500 scans, plus following you and seeing your success AND the fact that you will be doing a video series sealed the deal for me. I just got my scanner in the mail, so this was perfect timing! Really appreciate everything you do for the hobby, sir!
I’ve spent time using both, and CDP is way better over time
@@afineproduction3745 Thanks! It seems more user friendly. Do you think one of the other has better AI technology to identify the cards and auto fill info?
@@bradmoore5992 they both have their issues with the AI identification, but CDP makes it easier to fix them with the search option
CDP has its issues, but they also have been acquired by Collx and have the capital and are growing at a pace where there are some big picture updates coming soon that will (I believe) make CDP the go to for listing on eBay.
@@JMacSportsCards I already think it’s the go to, so any improvements are a bonus
I’ve done two consignments with DC87Sports and have been very happy. Just not having to deal with shipping and also the fact that they get more eyes than I would, even with my 2500+ 100% positive feedback.
J Mac love your videos keep up the great job is there a contact email for y'all I would like to send you some pics and talk more about this cards
should be able to go to my channel, and go to the "About" tab and access my email there.
I tried that but it only gives me a you tube link I'm sorry to bother you but I live in Arkansas and was fixing to send a bunch of cards to probstein on ebay to consign the cards but I wanted to send you some pics and ask if u would be interested
@@donjackson-by7cc thanks Im not buying any cards anytime soon, but thanks for considering me. Also when you click on my about tab on my channel is says "View email address" once clicked that reveals my email address. www.youtube.com/@JMacSportsCards/about but again Im not interested in buying.
JMac, CONGRATS on the new partnership!
