    I understand that those wild pigs can be pretty vicious. If you would have shot that arrow and he reacted and move abit it could have been a hit but not enough to kill him. Therefore you would have been in serious danger, but it was a safe decision. 😊 I remember the male emu was larger than the female, he was probably a bit older, which would mean she's not ready for breeding yet. 😊 looking forward to the new babies. He is a pretty buck.

    I know you take care of your equipment and i think using a bow that's been sitting that long for deer season is fine but i would hesitate to use on a wild pig. The skin is a bit tougher and they are mean just saying I think you made the right call. The season is just started. Have a good one and may your days be blessed

  • @lindamcclain9917

    Sometimes, making a decision to wait can and will be rewarded. I think while you might be kicking yourself for not shooting either animal, your freezers will be filled with venison soon enough. You are a kind man, as far as we can tell, and your kindness will be rewarded. Be kind to yourself, too.

    Wild boar sausage is really great! Pigs are in season all year round, deer is in season only for a short time, take the deer first then follow up with the pigs……40 to 60 lbs are great on the bbq.

    • @dl7596
      @dl7596 11 месяцев назад +1

      According to Arms Family Homestead, also in OK, wild boars are very dangerous to people and livestock. They have an interesting phone controlled, large, drop down trap that can catch a few at a time. It sounds as if the location was not too far from Kevin's home. I was wondering if he had shot a deer first, if the boar would have gone after it and Kevin would have had problems doing what needs to be done to bring it home.
      I think the dangerous boar should have been shot first.

    Freeze dryer would be better to dry liver and other parts for dog treats. Liver was the worst when I was doing them in the regular dehydrator for our dogs. The smell will be better contained with the freeze dryer. I had small breed dogs and cut the liver into 1/2" x 1/2" x 3/4" pieces. Once done the dogs just loved them (addicted to them actually). And yes the emu issue is that she is not ready or mature yet and it is coming into breeding season.

I have not shot a deer in quite awhile. seen some during bow season but they were in tall grasses or too far away, then during rifle season there was a nice buck that was behind some brush and if I can not see where I want to shoot its not happening, he was on his way out of the brush and something spooked him and he ran off.

Plus you can make lard out of the fat for some good bisquits. It's better for you than all the othbiscuits. The hog will continue to interrupt with the deer too. Its not been cold enough for the wolves to leave the deer yet. People dont think about that. Good luck
