I was diagnosed with Young Man’s dementia, voices spoke to me every day, nightmares every night. Sometimes they would appear to scare me. On two occasions they appeared to me as God, would give me visions of God not wanting me. I couldn’t sleep and my wife, girlfriend at the time, almost broke up with me because I kept forgetting conversations we would have. And This all happened after I became a Christian. Before life was much easier. The more I tried to follow or wanted Jesus, the worse it would get.
Thankfully, a man at my church was recommended to me by my church leaders, he specialized in deliverance. It was simply him praying for me. Wasn’t a big show. It lasted 3 hours, but ultimately was freed. I left that room and could no longer sense demons around me, no longer hear voices, and could remember everything. My girlfriend became my wife and now have 1 kid together. Jesus has been so kind to me, he quite literally pulled me out of hell.

My Wife use to see things since she was a child, it use to scare her, she prayed to God to take these visions away and it stopped.
I disagree that demonic oppression is rare. In my experience, it is way more common than we think, unfortunately. Most people are completely unaware of the spiritual realm, and therefore, unaware of all the ways evil spirits can attack and manipulate their lives.

I think he said demon possession, not oppression. Oppression unfortunately is not rare, that’s true. But I heard him say that possession is rare.

@@kellyanne7225 he said both are rare, but possession is much more rare, which I agree with. Towards the end, he said he estimated that only a few thousand people suffer from oppression in the US. I would say that number is incredibly inaccurate. That’s my opinion anyways.
People invite demonic activity into their lives, sadly. Oija boards, seances, tarot card reading etc, I used to be a youth group leader and some of my kids mentioned a skateboard manufacturer who dedicated his company to Satan.
People play with fire and then complain later when they come to faith and demonic activity becomes oppressive. But you asked for it.

Leaving out much detail, I was demon possessed. I will tell you it was a horrifying experience. It was inside of me. No exorcist delivered me, but Jesus did, when I sought him and prayed to Him. I repented the day I was delivered, and gave my life to Christ that day.

All well and good but nobody has ever been saved by giving their life to Christ.
That is bartering your life for salvation and is a Satanic counterfeit gospel message.
We are saved because He gave His life for us and we trust Him alone for salvation.
This means that saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ (alone) for salvation.

My late husband was a forensic psychologist who worked with many hundreds of prisoners over the years including accused rapists, murders and child molesters. He did not believe in evil, and thought that the devil was a mythological construct. That is, until he met with one particular accused murderer and said he had looked into the eyes of pure evil. He said the FBI took the guy away from the regional prison, and he never saw him again; he guessed the guy was a serial killer. He was deeply unsettled and this began his journey toward Christ. He became a devout believer, and believed that demonic possession was real.
So demons can possess mankind? What happened to free will ?

Very interesting to hear, it chimes with a lot of my experience prior to becoming a Christian. When I was a kid, I loved any and all stories to do with magic. I would dress up as a witch and pretend to make potions and cast spells. My parents are nominal believers and didn't see any harm in encouraging my imagination, so when I was about 12, they got me a spell book. I think they thought it was fiction, but it was an actual occult book written by a medium. Of course, I tried out the spells, even though parts of the book freaked me out a little. From then, I started experiencing demonic oppression, which continued throughout my adolescence. It was a dark presence that would hang over me, giving me intrusive thoughts of self-hatred, the desire to self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. I tried to block it out with idolatry, completely immersing myself in fantasy books and games, which, of course, only made things worse. I didn't think I could pray to God because he must not like me very much, I wasn't a good person. I got more and more into crystals, horoscopes, Eastern philosophies, and tarot cards. I knew I was experiencing some kind of spiritual attack, but I hadn't put 2 and 2 together to realise that these practices were the root of the problem. When I was 18, I made friends with a group of Pagan girls who did tarot readings with me, and we did a full-blown ritual on the beach to try and summon a spirit. That was when the oppression got so intense to the point that the demonic thoughts were louder and more frequent than my own inner thoughts. At that point I had the crazy idea that I could force the demon out of me by bringing myself close to death (I thought I was possessed at the time, but now I realise that I was only oppressed) so I overdosed on pills. Didn't work, of course. The spirit was still with me. But I wound up in hospital, and it was only when I saw how heartbroken my family was that I realised that wasn't an option. That's when I got down on my knees and prayed to God to give me another way out. I didn't know anything about repentance and salvation at that point, I just wanted an exorcism! But soon after that, my mum bumped into our village vicar (Church of England priest). Reverend Gill talked with me and helped me to understand how the occult practices had allowed evil spirits into my life. She allowed me to come and help her with her office admin twice a week, and all the while, she answered my questions about God and gave me the gospel. I decided to turn completely away from the occult and to Christ as my saviour - not just for deliverance but for forgiveness of my sin. I was baptised, and the demonic presence, intrusive thoughts, and impulse to harm myself have all completely gone since then! I'm now looking into studying an MA in theology because I want to write about God to tell others about the infinite treasure I've found in a relationship with Him.

That testimony is so awesome Annabel, I'm glad you came out of that with the help of Jesus! One of my close family members used to believe they could summon spirits as a medium so I can definitely empathize with you reading your story. I did not think Christians indwelt by the Holy Spirit can be possessed by the demonic. They are already possessed by God. Christians can be pestered or even harassed by the demonic, but never can an evil spirit enter a born again Christians body and take it over.
Julian Hunt you should have been alarmed by the fact that exorcism is associated with the pagan catholic church whose doctrine is built on Satan's doctrine and denounce the entire notion instead of admire the conversation. Only the Holy Spirit can cast out demons and its highly unlikely that a catholic priest will be able to do that while fully immersed in a pagan religious doctrine under a fake authority like the pope.

I had one experience that stands out regarding spiritual oppression and possession. Two pastors visited to speak at our church and during the invitation, one of the pastors was going around the sanctuary screaming "You're going to hell!" to everyone in the pews. He effused such hostility that I sensed a bad spirit about him. With my eyes still closed, I silently whispered to shut the mount of the spirit behind this man and to come out of him. At that moment, the man stopped speaking. After an awkward pause, I peeked up and found him back at the podium looking confused and holding his head. The other pastor quickly closed the service. Some months later, they both returned again, and this time the man was so gentle and loving in his message and interaction with us that I was blown away by the transformation! I'm convinced the man had some demonic influence in his life.
There is a man who likes to stand on a street corner near my house. He goes from singing blues songs (badly) to preaching (even worse). He will say "hallelujah" and the rest is ranting at people that they are all going to hell. There's no love but he seems to enjoy feeling attention. Years before I spoke with him and he refused to shake my hand because "demons might go into me from your stomach through your arm" he said. I believe he has demonic influence as well. A Muslim imam was standing nearby quietly with his table of books. And I told him that I'm a Christian and feel more comfortable with the imam compared to the man posing as a christian. And the Muslim man said he observed the fellow preaching that people who smoke will go to hell, then the preacher took a break, stood off to the side and lit up a smoke for himself. I grew up around good street preachers, hell was part of the story, but not the only part. And they had love as well as boldness. This guy I feel is a bad testimony. But I'm not sure what to say to him, so I just avoid him. He regularly is poisoning the airwaves with noise. What he's saying is not even clear on his speaker. "Lord please shut down that guy, or heal him to represent you faithfully."

The demons love to destroy their lives & beliefs because their loud rantings (which are actually by anti christ spirits & insanity spirits) turn so many away from even thinking of Jesus Christ as a valid option to look into. I too will be praying for u & for the demonic in that man to be stopped. You may not be able to have a coherent talk with someone so bound but your prayers are for him are powerful & that's what matters. God bless your efforts to free that street of this dark influence!

@BenWeeks it seems to me that this man is having a psychiatric illness. I think it is always challenging to understand and to differentiate from spiritual to psychiatric. For years the church has misinterpreted psychiatry illnesses as demonic possession. In not sure what the individual is smoking, but Marijuana can induce a psychosis. That plant that so many want to say is natural, and thetefore harmless, is just as harmless as arsenic, which is also natural. I stay away from both.
Not a Doctor but I always wondered if their was a link between extreme narcissism and demonic possession. We are seeing this behavior more and more today.
Thats a character flaw that responds to demonic oppression, which is very different from possession.
@@pdxnikki1 -interesting topic non the less. Being empathic i have to deal with narcissistic constantly and hard to detect when your the prey. But I have to say some may be possessed when completely turned over to sin by God. Something they may never be proven. I think there is a healing process for some but only through God and from the indwelling of Holy Spirit. The other interesting this is a lot of times in woman it comes from childhood trauma that’s not their own fault. Where their ego and being never develops but super- ego is developed with no soul or empathy or no conscious to guide them to they have to cover their pain which manifest to anger by harming others and that’s usually psychologically but the abuse they suffered from. A lot of times sexual abuse !

I always believed in Jesus but because I never read the Bible I got deceived by new age and went through an unfathomable horrifying 3 day demonic spiritual oppression. I was so far from God that I thought I needed an exorcist and Im not even Catholic. I only needed Jesus. Not only did Jesus save me but he COMPLETELY healed me and changed my life. Its incredible. Im a walking miracle. Also I have had spiritual encounters with Jesus since then which I am so blessed to have had. I can tell that demons hate me so much because of the light that is in me with Jesus and they probably dont want me to tell my story but I will and I am protected. I say this because theres this certain new age guy that stops into my work to talk to me from time to time and I can feel it-the demonic presence that he opened himself up to. But it is no match for my Lord. Be Jesus's sheep. Praise the Lord!
Most of us aren't so special as you and DO need the help of others, experts in diagnosing & exorcising demons.
Your giftings are yours. I was healed while on my deathbed as a Jewish atheist who thought all gods fictional. Had I even wanted a god which I didn't that last one I woulda chosen woulda been Jesus. But He healed me anyway & gave me faith.
I don't expect that most others have had my experience. I don't tell others that they all can be healed either. That's up to God. I do tell them to exercise their faith as commanded in James 5:14-16, but I also recommend that the gave others interceded for them too.
I wasn't healed without the intercession of others on my behalf I discovered much later. So, in prudence & wisdom, I'd say please be thoughtful in how you use your testimony. You are unique. Your testimony is instructive & edifying. But we aren't you. You are special. 🤗🙏
I went thru exactly what u went through but it was a full year of demonic beatings. Turned me into a Bible believing Christian, and I'll never doubt Jesus is Lord and never break my relationship off with Jesus.
I also started having such close visible interactions with Jesus after. It scared me. That's what actually stifled my relationship with Jesus for a minute, because I just couldn't believe how personal, and how he interacted with me. When He was near, it was the best day. I went on a one day beach trip with Him, there were miracles. And just fun stuff happening, all the time.
I think I let that scare me back a bit.
But I loved every minute of it.
He set me completely free of demonic oppression.
He taught me how to protect myself of these things.
His word is the light I keep putting in, to me.
It's like water, and life to me.
I stay close to Him. I am trying to overcome my confusion about how close..it can get. Even though I loved it. I let that be a confusion and i regret that, but fasting and prayer, I know, will allow me to connect quickly.

For 4 years, I was married to a diagnosed psychopath (actually, the dark triad, so add NPD and Sadist). After multiple "therapists" examined me, us and him separately, I was informed about his diagnosis ... numerous times I recorded our arguments using my iPad so that I could share, dissect or even understand what he was saying. Afterwards, when I listened to the recording, I heard our words off and on and in between, I could hear the sound of a beast ... sounded like a large cat (e.g., lion) or a bear. Very low growl that would rumble and other times cry out like it was in pain. When I played it for family, they thought some kind of technical glitch must have happened, but it never happened before or since or with anyone else.
I have been studying the performance for a long time and that is demonic sounds that is exactly what you're hearing they don't know how to speak all the time some of these are lower Demons are much more like an animal but even the higher Demons will act very animalistit's the it's a thing they do it's one of their identifying things in fact that is 1 way that you often find a home is horrifically top-level haunted as if you start hearing animal noises could be pixed now it could be Animals growling any of that kind of stuff those are Signs the highest demonic order which I can extremely Powerful being and they can do things Like You wouldn't Believe they could literally make things and this sounds Crazy they could literally make objects appear and disappear and this happens that's actually quite a few people in their own homes with things with disappear and Sometimes come back the Dead and the Demons are The Only 2 things I could Do That and they have to be Extreme. I've been studying this stuff for 30 years these things are everywhere most of the time but not allowed to touch us or have at us but sometimes people do certain things they live in a bad place or more so play with the Spirit board or Somebody Else who has or they're around devourship or they're dating someone or they have made physical Contact or sexual Contact with Somebody who's been double worshiping all the stuff can work like an open electrical circuit if you Know anything about electricity you can MOVE from person to person The Other things we all have a Natural romantic protection from God but Sometimes we lose that by being in Close Contact with the evil and that's what these things are there's there are evil shaped into a form the appear pure murderous Jealous psychotic evil so they bring out the absolute worst in people CHANCES are that Ex-boyfriend of yours actually a great guy he just possessed by evil

Agreed! Ive been in psychiatry for 10 years as both a psychiatric RN & board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. To see a MD with this level of spiritual understanding really gives me hope for our specialty & patients.

I look back at some of my actions years ago and some of the evil I was involved in usually under the influence of alcohol, methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine, etc. And I can say I was definitely under demonic oppression. Mostly because of my free will decision to sin in such ways. I was on walmart the other day looking for a monopoly game , looked over and saw a Ouija Board in the kids section!! I got all three of them and put them on the top shelf on the very back. Saw where disney released some show called Little Devil or something like that about satans son. Just soo many ways for young people to stumble upon occult related media even if they aren't actively searching. Hard time to be a Christian parent I bet.

Unfortunately, it matters very little whether or not they are available as a toy/game. Those who wish to attempt communication via a spirit board can just as easily mock one up. I was shocked to discover, not too many years ago, that children at our Catholic primary school were using a basic binary (yes/no) divination tool consisting of a balanced pen to which they posed questions (which side it fell or which way it turned would provide the “answer”). It was a very popular fad that school officials must have been aware of yet took no action. At that time I was not in a position to speak openly against it. Thankfully, my child was bright enough to recognise such practices for what they really represent and stayed well clear.
My Brother is part of a small group of people who confronts these entities and we are part of a large group that start to pray for the people who is going to the actual confrontation. Nothing is as powerful as preying to the Almighty God and His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. All Glory to You Lord.

Who is this group of people? I feel some calling to do this but I am Catholic and in our church, only ordained priests get trained to do exorcisms.
Oppression is as common as anxiety and depression.. The demons just want you to believe that oppression is rare. Oppression is very very common and shows up as depression, anxiety, identity and same sex confusion etc.

This would seem to be relevant to alleged “UFO abduction” cases. The entities encountered make predictions and provide information which ultimately proves to be false. Instilling confusion, as well as evoking fear and inflicting pain, appears to be the standard modus operandi. These events are often accompanied by paranormal manifestations. It’s hard to comprehend why so many are willing to believe that such beings are simply “interstellar visitors.”

Pediatric nurse for 45 yrs work in some of the best children’s hospitals in the nation. I have seen 1 child demon possessed it was the scariest and one of the most troubling things I’ve ever seen. And I have seen a lot. If someone had told a story like this I would have laughed at them. It was back back in the 90’s so I wasn’t my memory was remembering correctly. I called a fellow nurse who was there and my memory was intact as being correct. I wasn’t walking with the Lord then but was born again years before so I was so thankful for that

@@aujax1 I was a charge nurse in a children’s hospital child was a pt there. Had been in several times with a diagnosis of possible brain tumor. Child was acting very agitated and self harming or trying to we had him restrained with thick leather ankle and wrist restraints. He was trying to get lose. He got one hand out and pulled the catheter out of his penis which was extremely painful which he didn’t seem to mind. He was speaking in a guttural voice saying vial language in that voice and in between that voice he was saying in a normal little boy voice mommy help me. His color was a strange almost grayish, translucent almost like when someone is dying. He was about 9-10 yrs old his whole body was stiff as he was thrashing about. He was so out of control and required close nursing care so he didn’t hurt himself we sent him to a step down icu unit. He was the scariest and saddest thing I had seen. I told the nurse in report he needed a priest to perform an exorcism. It was almost like that little girl in the movie the exorcist.
As a psychiatric nurse, I arrived at work after being off for 3 days. Morning report, where we reviewed our patients on the unit. They reported that a male patient was hearing voices commanding him to do untoward things and he wanted to see a priest because he said he was possessed by a demon. The issue was he had refused any medications and the diagnosis of schizophrenia. He, at that point, had been there for 3 days and nobody could convince him to try medications. I talked with him and had reviewed an article by a psychiatrist who wrote about demonic possession, symptoms, etc. I told the young man basically what I noted in the article. "If you are possessed with a demon, no medication will help. If it is some sort of chemical imbalance in your brain, then the medication will help." He agreed to take the meds and his symptoms slowly subsided. He was relieved and knew it wasn't possession. Maybe, I was reading one of Dr Gallagher's articles. This was in 2004 or 2005. I will buy your book. Thank you for wisdom. Demonic possession symptoms etc should be put in the DSM.
Could it be possible at all that demons want to be appeased by medications? We know that medications always cause damage to our bodies, our temple. Medications are always a cure to one thing while damaging other areas of our system. The small writing at the end of a prescription, the commercial reciting the side effects so quickly half the ppl. don't even pay attention. Just a thought.

My late grandfather had a similar history. He was a protestant pastor and clinical psychologist. His psych practice specialized in dissociative identity disorder (DID, formerly multiple personality disorder), so he was frequently brought in to examine cases to rule out possible DID or other psychological causes before an exorcism. I wish I had asked him about it more before he passed in 2019.
if a person has DID i almost guarantee there are demons there as well because they usually gain access through trauma and abuse and sexual abuse and also generational curses some going back centuries many times domons are attached to these soul fragments

My grandpa and his colleague did exorcisms but would never talk about it. Even at 93 on his death bed. I tried my whole life.

After my husband sister died at the age of 26 from bowel cancer, and our only child was diagnosed with severe disability my husband turned to use drugs. First it was alcohol, that he used to ease his pain. He was drinking almost everyday, then he started using drugs. Methamphetamine. He turned our life to hell. I was at the end of my wits, trying to cope with all situation and at The same provide the best care for our child. All friends and family turned their backs, and left me all by myself. There is no words to describe what Ive been through...One evening I was talking to my husband as usual, trying to convince him, that he should stop doing those horrible things, and start to seek for professional help. As a catholic I accepted our son dissability as a gift from God, as a kind of my perssonal cross I have to carry. A sacrifice of love. I feel chosen by God because Im mother of the individual who is not able to commit any kind of sin. Hes disability is to severe...That evening I was trying to convince my husband that our son need him, to be procected, he needs hes father as he is completley defenceless. I got cross on the wall, just above kitchen doors and I looked at it, while taking to my husband with great hope for mercy from Jesus. My husband went to get shower. Few second after I heard water flow I heard my husband scream from the bathroom. I was first time in my life. Ive never heard him screamed before. I stormed to the bathroom and saw my husband completley naked with hes face full of fear. He was like little boy, petrified and helpless . He was screaming, crying at the same time. What happened, Ive asked??? He showed me his right arm. First I looked and I could not catch my breatch. On my husband arm I saw tiny needle marks three od four. I could see them and after 2, 3 second they dissapered. Then appeared again. I could not belived my eyes. My husband at that time started to use needles to admistrate drugs. So my first thougt was these were marks he made using drugs. But as I looked at hes face and he shouted :"look, look!!!" I noticed these marks appearing and dissapering. I saw it very clearly. I holded hes arm, and I know what was that. That was last warning. My husband was about to loose his soul, mind and probbably hes life soon. I puled hes armed and dragged him out from the bathroom to the kitchen. Naked, soaked with water straight under that cross we got in the kitchen . I forced him to kneel and we both prayed. My husband was praying and crying at the same time. It was 6 years ago. Last month we celebrated our 19 wedding anniversary. My husband today is completley different man. At the age of 46, he is great father, good worker. He never went to any kind of tratment. He changed hes life with the help of God and hes own strenght. Everything changed after that evening. Demons are real. Dont let drugs, witchcraft, gambling ect open way to your soul. It is real. It really is. My God bless you all.

When I first became a Christian, a Christian medical doctor witnessed to me about how there are 2 spirits in this world, One being the Holy Spirit of God, and two, the unholy spirit of satan. He told me that you can't ride the fence meaning, if you're not living under the protection of God's Holy Spirit, the unholy spirit will overtake you, you can't stop it. When I asked Jesus into my heart I felt I was very attacked by demons for the next months, when the demonic oppression came I prayed and begged Jesus to heal me and show me the truth... I become strong, calm at peace... I felt Jesus presence in my heart and Satan came for me though my own. Family trying to get me to deny Jesus name I never faltered, I stayed true to myself and fought for my soul. They still haunt me at time the demons but I got the full armor of God and water myself with His holiness and peace. Demons will cone for you strong when you yearn for Jesus they do not want you to go to Hin fight for yourself and Jesus will be there and He will never let you down. I feel Jesus in my heart and soul every minute of every day His presence cannot be shaken . It took a year for me to truly feel Jesus in my soul, it's the most amazing feeling. I wish everyone could have it.

Some barely affect ppl and some really can have a very negative effect. I would know because I had a major deliverance that changed my life and I have since given my life over to Jesus. He’s saved me from death in a physical sense as well as spiritual.

Casting out demons is part of the life of a true disciple of Christ. This entire interview is prefaced on the point that it takes a special person to cast out demons. All throughout Jesus' earthy ministry He healed the sick and cast out demons, and he taught his disciples to do the same. I'm afraid the problem with "Christianity" in America is that we aren't reading our bibles with a teachable, humble spirit. May God have mercy on us.
Be careful, not any or every Christian has authority to cast out demons, Our Lord and His Church gives authority. There is the example of the false exorcists in scripture that the demons recognized as not having authority, they knew of Peter and Paul but not them, and were tore up by the demons. Even in the interview he spoke of a Lutheran deacon that got thrown into a wall by a demon. It's kind of like talking a knife to a gun fight.
Ironically, humility is a virtue that seems to be lacking in the majority of church organisations/Christian groups and a great many individuals who consider themselves to be Christian. It’s not an optional aspect - humility is a core tenet.

Years ago, our family was harassed over several years by a demon/demons. My hub, kids, extended family, and myself are all born-again Christians. It was even working in my grandmother's house, oldest son's house, and mom's house.....they all live in different cities. It was a real battle, and extremely annoying. I was able to hone it down to 2 possible ways it was let in. Once I realized what was going on, my prayers changed. Then, the booger challenged me and got tougher. In the power of Christ, so did I. As far as I can tell, it's gone now. It goes on far more than ppl realize. As time goes on, we're going to see more and more ppl getting possessed. Catholics aren't the only ones dealing with this. More and more Baptists are too. Don't be afraid!

All religions are suffering from it but only catholic exorcist priest can carry out the formal ritual of exorcism, but other christian denomination can do deliverance prayers, but that's not an exorcism, but it can help if you are just evil influenced or somewhat oppressed.

In the Bible, if you have accepted Christ as your One and Only Savior, God then seals you with His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1). It is only then that you can exorcise demons through HIS power that now indwells you. I know Catholics are taught otherwise. Also, according to Jesus, some demons can't be cast out unless you pray and fast first. It's all in the Bible.

Prince Harry just admitted in his memoir that he and his wife summoned-up something claiming to be his dead mother, and he described physiological changes during one of these contacts. Now he’s doing crazy things, and his family and old friends say they don’t recognize him anymore. I’m amazed that nobody has picked up on this.

As one who endured CSA & more than I will reveal I had demon oppression as a child and many personal attacks including physical. I only shared this with a Christian Counselor as I knew no one would believe me. The open doors make way. The evil attacks and presence is something I’ll never forget.
After I accepted Jesus as my savior the demons started oppressing me for about 3 months, my mind was loud, they would say disgusting and disturbing things about me and other people. I had to sleep with the light on because their presence was so strong. I barely share that because people seem to not believe it. Jesus is stronger than all of the demons combined. Thanks for sharing your story and I'm glad you are set free by our Lord Jesus.

What open doors did you have as a child? At what age?
Years ago I was stuck in a room with a lady that was possessed! I was stuck with her for about 3 hrs!! After that time I knew that it was real and that people do get possessed!! I was a Christian at the time but only a newer believer, and it really scared me for several years!! After, my relationship with Jesus grew, He has delivered me from that paralyzing type of fear!

On the Becket Cook show ( which I highly recommend) was a guest whose first name is Rae...and she gives a testimony of her involvement with yoga. Becket Cook is a christian who lived as a gay man in Hollywood for 20 years until he went to church with a friend and Jesus Christ set him free and saved him.

Liberal theologians, among which Walter Wink is the most well-known for attempting to do so, tried to explain them away as something else than actual beings, from a, basically, social point of view.
While at times interesting to read, in the end I find all these explanations lacking and incongruent with what the Word reveals.
I read tons on the subject, while preparing my Master's Thesis. Coupled with my own experiences, I'd say you are now on the right path, my friend. The "conservative theologians" simply upheld a truth that was known all aong.

Nuggets..... I'm confused as to how you can doubt there is good when you have seen obvious spiritual evil.
When I was young I was horribly oppressed, seeing things, hearing things and things being able to mute the whole house. I still see them but I'm a devout Jesus freak. The key to this battle is the Word of God. Without that we have no defenses and no weapons. I suggest the KJV. The new versions are very much watered down and missing pieces of verses, and in places, whole verses.
I don't have any confidence in the Catholic church. I'm not sure about this Dr either. He does not strike me as having authority at all.

... I grew up in a in the 70ies where Christianity, here in Scandinavia, had already taken on a purely cultural aspect; the Lord's name generally only popped up in songs during Christmas, and - we'd seized to some extent to be a Christian nation...
But I vividly remember a whole variety of scenes from my childhood with our mother suffering from some sort of mental illness; her personality would change from the most loving person imaginable to someone you almost feared. And she'd utter stuff in that condition in a deep uncanny voice, I remember to this day...
In between these periods, she'd be able to function, but - they'd always return, right till her passing in her mid 50ies.
As a child and a young man, I always believed the psychiatrists when they explained her medical condition; it's as a man In my late 40ies, and - more important - as someone who finally came to Christ, I now view those old memories somewhat differently: there's no doubt in my mind that something terrible was going on back then; something more sinister than mere illness was destroying her.

Dr Gallagher, Glad to hear your report on exorcism am a pediadtrician who worked at psychiatric in patient facility for 26 yrs . The psychiatric focus on the mind and completely neglect the spiritual and are opposed to it. I am from India and know the possession more than in this country . There are any evil spirits who commit murder. Suicide addiction and other medical conditions also. The charismatics do some wonderful deliverance ministries. Thanks for your presentation. Well said. Healed and set free from years of torment from childhood abuse. Born in USA, symptoms started at 17 but was good in school sports popular model actress so no one would think anything. I didn't understand it. Took years to get free but God's mercy sent me to people places etc over the years. Now I help others. I am still amazed people don't know that this stuff is real! Look at your self, friends, neighbors, look at patterns weaknesses etc. It's so obvious. God bless you.

Besides disguising as angels, the deceased, gods or goddesses, or spirit guides, how often do demons disguise themselves as aliens, or superior beings from another dimension or planet? I would have liked that question addressed in the interview as well.
I have had them come to me as interdimensional love aliens. They came as beings who wanted to spread love. Before I was saved I used to smoke DMT. Keep your eyes on the UFO reveal story. These beings will very quickly present themselves as ministers of not only righteousness, but of Christ. They will subtly rewrite the story of our Messiah. The current narrative is that they created us, and started evolution here on earth. They are also responsible for shutting down many nuclear sites with the aim to bring peace to earth. This makes them look peaceable. But we know that when they say “peace”, then shall sudden destruction come. The deception will get so great that if it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived. These beings are no joke, and they DO come as ministers of righteousness, and without the Holy Spirit, we Christians would but it hook line and sinker. Prepare brother! It has taken years of prayer to discern their story from the simple story of Christ crucified.
I can tell you the answer to that question. Demons are aliens. They are shape shifters pretending to be aliens, relatives, historical people, and even good angels.
No such things as real aliens from other planets.

I have often thought the exact same thing. As mankind continues to fall and true Christianity becomes watered down towards society demons get stronger and more noticeable with the restraining power of the Holy Spirit being removed . This video came up in my feed and I’m glad I watched it! I’ve been praying for the Lord to help me understand the experience I went through with my ex boyfriend from 2003-05. It ultimately led to my testimony in getting saved from an attempted suicide, where I did see a black and red man shaped figure flying in the sky to take me to hell after taking pills, but before Almighty God intervened! My ex was likely possessed even though he had schizophrenia, smoked crack cocaine, and what appeared to be multiple personality disorder (which I didn’t know about mental health diagnoses until after going to school for social work). I asked God why I went through such bizarre experiences and knew people would think I’m crazy. My ex said the arch angel Michael wanted to talk to me, and supposedly he and demons and God spoke to me through him. I don’t regret living that hell on earth because God saved me through it!!!
Oh my, the Lord would have certainly found other ways to save you. Don’t ever get into something so awful again. It’s not ok to experiment with drugs and Jesus never wants anyone to get involved in that lifestyle just so he could rescue them. You need to attend a Bible college for a year,it would really help you. I’m very glad you found the Lord but oh my dear I really hope you regret the life you were in and confessed that sin to the Lord,because that’s what it was.
With all due respect - I never did drugs, the pills I took were sleeping pills to end my misery via suicide. My ex is the one who did drugs. This was over 17 years ago and I’m saved. I’ve read my study Bible cover to cover and have a relationship with the Lord. God is able to save anyone and everyone from any lifestyle because He loves us. He knew in advance what would take place yet chose to save me anyway. I don’t regret my experience with my ex or what took place because it is my testimony that saved my life. I wouldn’t be who I am today without my testimony. I will never forget where I came from because it is the power of God to transform someone’s life like that. When I took the pills to end my life, I wished for a reason to live and told God I didn’t want to do what I was doing. Something inside told me to stop taking the pills and the very next day I found out I was pregnant. God gave me a reason to live by giving me my son. And God has never left my side these last 17 years.

I’ve heard that drugs invite evil spirits in. I’m sure other behaviors do too, but I really can see how drugs can invite them in.
I guess the only way drugs can "invite" evil spirits in, is through some of the behaviour or intentions associated with, or generated by, the consumption, not the consumption itself invite them, like opening some gates. Demons are invited or can bond with us only through our free will, if we allow it, or by our long term, constant engagement in evil deeds, rebellious /demonic actions.
Any sin is a potential open door. It gives a legal right to the evil one to attack in that area. You are giving up control over yourself to many drugs. Taking drugs may be illegal and will often times involve people with evil or criminal intentions.

A Navajo church in AZ uses peyote in their worship, for the “spirit walk” or” vision quest” and I’ve read nothing about possession in their work. But perhaps that’s due to their experience and use over hundred of years 🤔
Drugs weaken your control over your faculties & the proper exercise of free will. The demonic realm takes advantage of this. They don't play fair.
Thank you Thank you Sean for interviewing Dr. Gallager. Although I am still a bit confused it helped me so much personally. In the Protestant churches in my experience have never really discussed demon possesion/oppression openly especially growing up in the Conservative Baptist traditon. That is what I appreciate about the Catholic Church. Only in the last 10-20 yrs have I heard mental illness discussed. Three years ago I was introduced to Freedom Encounters, a deliverence ministry by a mutual friend of ours that you know from Biola. She really was a huge stepping stone to my own healing. When she shared her story of healing from mental illness I was drawn to go through the program after suffereing with bipolar disorder with psychotic features since 2001 when I was first diagnosed at 35. Although I was technically a believer since I was 7, I could never believe God could love me. I account most of my mental illness to being born to parents who experienced extreme trauma that got past down to me. Having delusion was the most scary experience ever in my life. The delusion were very spirtual in nature thinking one time my young son was Jesus. My 2 major episodes were extremely dangerous and I could have been killed both times although I wasn't suicidal but just suffering major stess all once. In the one that happened in 2014 I totaled my car and caused $60,000 of property damage. That I only had 4 bruises from the sea belt to show for it, was a mirculous and that no one else was hurt can't be explained but from the hand of God. Although Dr. Gallager stated that oppression is rare I still believe that mental torment, insanity and abuse I experienced isn't from God but from Satan. There was a spiritual battle for my soul and body but God kept me alive for a reason. Not quite sure what God has in store for my future as I work through the pain and truly heal in Biblical Counseling the last 8 months that 22 yrs of secular counseling and medication couldn't do. Actually come to think of it my counselor Hope, believes I was misdiagnosed with a mental illness because psychiatry had nothing else to account for my experience. So maybe in fact it was oppression. WOW! What a lightbulb moment. God bless you Sean and our mutual friend....

Freedom Encounters is okay but it's limited in knowledge and deeper issues. I've been involved in all of these. Traveling, giving ministry and receiving it. Brought up Catholic, studied the Church in detail. Learn deliverance from protestant churches too. They have more real life, current day, biblical hands on experience within the laity and for more people. That's not a criticism just a technical reality:). God be with you!🙏
Yes, of course from the Catholic exorcism criteria which is the oldest and most experience in the world, there is evil influence, besides oppression and possession.

I've had some demons attack me before. A couple of times I've prayed to Yahweh for help, other times I've told the spirit that I'm a child of Yahweh and they need to leave me alone, which they quickly did.
Keep a holy rosary under your pillow, learn to pray, those fallen angels, hate three things the most Our Blessed Mother, the rosary and prayer of the rosary and Our Lord's name and mention if His precious blood. They also hate Gregorian chants and prayers in Latin.
@@peaceandlove544 I'm not Roman Catholic. All I had to do was say, "I'm a child of Yahweh, leave me alone" and they left me alone. With the exception of mentioning His name and that I am His (aka covered by His blood), and praying, I wouldn't do anything else that you mentioned.
Keep all occult things out of your home. Movies, books, “crystals,” dream catchers, any idol or pagan god. We culturally have become so unaware of the paganistic and occultist elements around us.
Even knowing all this and home educating my five children, one of my little boys was oppressed starting at about age 4. I found that keeping audible word of God (Bible) playing in his room all night as he slept helped. It infuriated me, still does, that Satan came for my sweet little boy. He’s 21 now and fine and follows Christ and all praise to Jesus Christ, Our Lord and High Tower. 🙏

It sounds like you have an autoimmune disorder called PANS . Does your OCD get worse after cold or infection? It could be brain inflammation and you need long term antibiotics and possibly IVIG. You need to be tested for lingering conditions like Epstein bar and micro plasma pneumonia.

A few years ago I was very bad, very sad because of the many problems I was having. I started going to a christian church to seek God, I needed to ask him for forgiveness and I needed his help. When the pastor of that church began to pray for me, I LOST CONTROL of my body for several minutes and insulted her but IT WAS NOT ME. This happened to me at least four times, it was horrible and I will never forget it. Demons are real and Jesus is the answer.
Before I got saved I was full blown demon possessed. The lord delivered me in seconds when I cried out to him.
Thats how it was in the Book of Acts.

Great interview. I did however disagree with Dr. Gallagher that possession and oppression are rare. I think if someone were to launch a thorough study on this topic they would be quite surprised and find it is more common than we think. In my experience with deliverance cases, there usually is a psychological aspect to it.

My experience also. Demons attack the mind almost always, so of course there will be symptoms of mental illness. Esp in cases of possession. Whether it's depression, anxiety or psychotic illness. If a demon can possess or afflict any body part, their number one target is the person's mind.

It's really sad because he's only talking about the people who already jumped through a lot of hoops and were persistent so they crossed paths with him. I agree with you. There's a lot of 'stars' in the entertainment world who have welcomed possession and I think that during lockdowns globally demons fed on people in a way that never happened before. Stress and anxiety is seen as normal now, the symptoms overlap with oppression.

Freedom in Christ ministries helped me with a lot of things I was freed from migraines, depression, anxiety., nightmares, bad attacks.They have many clases and help a lot with deliverance.
Neil Anderson's book "The Bondage Breaker" is VERY helpful. It shows you how to make it difficult for demons to influence you or hang around you. Get rid of the things that leave open doors for them.

Aside from my joke this is a very interesting conversation. Giving me a more nuanced perspective on demon possessions and exorcisms because I am a bit suspicious and wary of those things because of the negative influence of the hyper Charismatic Movement which is the lead player in exorcisms where I’m from.

I was just praying about this topic and issue we have, and the church not being so open to spiritual warfare. This issue is growing I would get calls once a month to pray demons out of houses or people now I’m contacted once a week. We are living in the end times that Jesus warned would be evil and that some would think up evil daily. Sean I love that you are bring this out. I don’t tell many what I do because they see me as crazy. But Jesus’s ministry was to heal the sick and cast out demons. I Live in the Riverside Ca area if you would ever like to join me to see first hand people being set free it’s actually a beautiful thing, not scary. You are welcome to see, I just ask that you fast the day before and read psalms 91 out loud for your covering.
If it makes you feel any better, we've been living in the "end times" since Penticost. I think it simply means the last age of the earth in the broad view of the world's lengthy history before Christ returns. That could be thousands of years, but that could be hundreds of thousands or millions of years from now. Nobody knows. We might be seeing a rise in this phenomena in some parts of the culture as they move further away from Christ and Cbristian ethics, but that's more indicative of the decaying state of the culture that must be pushed back against through living examples of love and a better path forward, not indicative of the end of the age.

Science emerged out of religion and Christianity because beliefs were imposed and enforced by the governments of that time. As people began to explore, experiment and gain knowledge through science they left those beliefs behind more and more.

I’ve heard some good teaching about preventing oppression/possession.
1. Repent of all known sins
2. Renounce any occult practices/beliefs
3. Forgive those who have sinned against you and forgive yourself
4. Get help for life controlling sins and addictions!

I think there are plenty of mental illness/ brain / health issues that we know how to treat today, that have historically been considered demon possession. Schizophrenia and bipolar both come to mind.

I think depression is, many times, a form of demonic oppression. Oppression as in, it just holds you down. Like a black cloud, always there. Very very very common these days.

One of the things as a Christian I question is how many conditions that are medically diagnosed as psychological are still influenced by spiritual forces. I agree that the fall influences how humans are affected but I also wonder how much of our choices can make it easier for demons to influence us and cause psychological issues. The chief protection, I suppose, is to cling tightly to Jesus and stay far away from the occult.

So fascinating. In Africa (where I am from and live) these things are more common than in the US it seems. I grew up around deliverance ministry, which is what the non catholic usually call it, so I've seen some stuff which I'm glad to say most were set free, but not everyone wants to close those 'legal' door. I'm definitely gonna read his book to see what he says in detail.

I wonder if the prevalence is tied to people practising occultic spiritual practises there more widely than in other areas of the world.
It’s not more common there, it’s just that people are more aware of it there and take it seriously. The west was heavily influenced by the Enlightenment, and therefore dismiss the reality of the spiritual realms. Americans are a deeply oppressed people, but their oppression looks very different from the oppression in Africa.
My husbands parents are from Indonesia and demon oppression and activity is prevalent and accepted there also.
