But they also like to run around tunnels and explore, and would be bound to come across the exit quickly regardless of if they were even looking for it. Ferrets are still used for wiring and piping in certain places, they know what they're doing in these scenarios, neither cats or racoons are really proper burrowers like ferrets are, tunnels are their forte.

Agreed. The raccoons seemed to want to go over the shortcut but the plexiglas was blocking the fastest route. Cats want to do what cats want to do. If you got them to chase a laser pointer through there then you'd see them move.
While I'm unsure whether this is really effective at measuring base intelligence....I feel this has great potential in behavioral study on how problem solving is dependent on hunting and /or gatherimg habits.....
@@Mavrik9000 Yeah, I know. Ferrets are just my favourite animal, so I was making a joke. The comparison of cat/raccoon/ferret for this "intelligence" test is rather inaccurate, as each animal is intelligent in their own developed skill sets. I wouldn't say this maze accurately determined the intelligence of each animal because of that.
I bet with the covers off and all the critters in a good mood, they'd have a ball playing on and in the maze, especially now that they're familiar with it :3
I think the issue with the cats is their motivation is different/not there. Cats are so use to living with humans that they saw the entrance as a door and they are use to just waiting for their human to open the door. It didn’t occur to them to look for a second entrance/exit because they didn’t feel the need too. Maybe if they were in their long enough they would then bother to look but with a cat that could be awhile until you saw their real reaction to actually trying the maze. I think the best way to trick the cat is to make them unaware of the entrance. Perhaps if they started in a box that was covered and the box was set at the entrance, then they wouldn’t be aware that the entrance and wait at it like a door. However, as cats do, you might have to wait a while for them to explore as some cats might be freighted from traveling in the carrier but then see the carrier as a safe place as it is the only location they know. Perhaps seeing the maze already from above and recognizing the room through the plexiglass they would be more comfortable at exiting Vs staying inside the carrier.
I knew ferrets would have the fastest time because between 4, 3 of them will not stay in one spot unless they are sleeping, eating, or pooping. The other one is just super CHONKY and just hangs out

You obviously didn't tell the raccoons that they're being filmed, so they spent half of the time protesting.
I so appreciate the time and effort you put into this!!
Cats are like "Oh you built a maze for us? How cute is this? Now let me out"
😂
me, as a cat, in that maze: finally somewhere I'm safe from those gd raccoons! time for a nap *timer runs for a full 90 minutes*
Rats watching the cats fail completely: This is the greatest thing since sliced cheese.
Cats help raccoons! Humans help cats!Cheaters!
I don't think you can get "who is smarter" from this. I don't think the animals know is a race.
I don’t think it’s them being aware it’s a race. It their deductive ability, memory, and problem solving. The raccoons and ferrets seem to be sharper in those categories. That one cat kept going to the same way until it just gave up. It passes a path it had not explored but didn’t even stop to consider if had been that way.
@@roxstarboii21 i think you are still projecting too much. Your goal is all that. The cat is just in a cozy box with a window. Maybe it could be a test if a creature would naturally even want to leave. Unless there is a clear previously established incentive to many won't thus why researchers have to first trin them to respond to a certain incentive first. Its a cute video though.
@@allancarter Yeah, cats would probably only try to leave because they need to pee if that was the first time xd
So just about nobody is gonna talk about their little kiss there 1:20
Anybody who's ever waited for their cat to come down from a tree they managed to climb up perfectly easily can relate.
Cats just wait for the hoomans at the door to let them back out again, lol.
It appeared the raccoons were exploring, the ferrets were extremely adept( I bet they could do that in the dark) the cats... clueless
Nah, the cats knew that the humans would help them out and give them yummy treats even if they failed so why waste energy figuring it out? XD
You have to give cats incentive to go through the maze - put snacks at the half way point. Even then, cats are fundamentally lazy and will try to cheat.
The cats weren't clueless, they had already seen what was going on when they were walking on top of the maze. After seeing what it was all about, they were like.... Screw you hoo-man, we don' play those silly reindeer games!!! Now bring us our lunch!!!😼😼😼
Not really.. cats like small confined spaces. Why would they leave their comfort zone until prompted with a reward for doing so?
how could I deny that this is my favorite channel the variety of animals *especially the raccoons themselves* are to DIE FOORRRR😭😭✨💗💕💞💖🦝🦝
I’m such a weirdo I absolutely love this I feel like people aren’t taking in consideration consideration that there is also a scent left behind on the path to the exit
Ferrets probably smell the Raccoons....maybe. But, shocked how poorly the cats did.
I think the cats just didn’t care to try lol
@@ItsSarahThyme I know. Lol They acted like they thought it was a giant cat carrier. Typical of cats. One of my cats is a genius but the rest of them are so hit and miss with their smart days but mostly very stubborn dopey retard kitty days. :-/
Cats are actually *highly* *intelligent* animals. These cats simply decided they didn't really care about doing the maze.
Most cats I know are very curious by nature but they also are very cautious so they take a bit to like something. Hence the way you need to introduce everything slowly.
@@thelifeofhorroryt4940 Yup. Brave and confident kitties might set out immediately to explore something new, but all cats are keenly aware of their position in the ecosystem - they're lunch to most things bigger than them. And ofc if you leave the maze open and come back a few hours later, you'll find the cats all curled up in each of the dead ends because those are the kinds of places where cats like to sleep and feel safest.
Without the camera in the maze which distracted chetoo he would have had a better time.
I love all these videos! And finally the ferrets are in a video:D
I think it makes so much sense that a ferret was the winner. Crawling through burrows after small rodents is one of their wild hunting methods after all. Plus mustelids are rad as hell.
Ferrets are still used for wiring and piping in certain places, they know what they're doing in these scenarios, neither cats or racoons are really proper burrowers like ferrets are, tunnels are their forte.
cats are clearly the smartest. they refuse to do the maze, until you show them the food. they have you well trained. the third cat is smart enough to get you to open the door, so he doesn't even have to do the maze. again, these cats have trained you well.
the raccoon seems pretty sharp too, solving the maze is more of an afterthought. he trolls you when he knocks over the camera.
Not surprised about the cats. They lose their minds being closed in anywhere 😆
You built a great maze are you sure your not a carpenter?? That was a fun idea, thanks for sharing their fun with us. Much love and respect to you and yours!❤
I saw the ferret, and clicked. I need this
Fun video and cool maze.
This was so fun to watch. I love to watch these cute critters play.
OMG Love your videos amazing maze for sure thanks so very much that was cool thanks ..
why do I feel like "disqualified" is the best indicator of intelligence?
The dislike are from the racoons that got lost in the maze
It is the journey that matters, not the destination
That was awesome and the music goes perfect with them as they go through the maze lol. Too cute, no matter who won! They're all winners in my opinion 😍❤ Thanks for sharing 👍
Is it any surprise that the ferret loved going through the maze again and again? They live in a abandoned prairie dog tunnels. Your ferrets probably thought you just built them the best home ever.
I approve of these results.
That was wonderful!
Keep up the good work love the content way to go😇😇😇
😮 I thought most of them would have made it through a lot faster!! (And the cats just crack me up 😆)
i love how the cats sit down and just look around - also raccoon was looking for secret way to get out from the top - they not stupid - we foster wild ones and they are super smart.
I feel like the prize for everyone was knocking over the go pro in the middle. And the losers were the poor guys who fruitlessly tried to reset it over and over.
2:32 "wth you playin' with me like this.. I hate it.." *sounds of camera dropped lol
cheeto takes longer the second time in order to do a thorough job of hunting...skills.
I LOVE IT! I want to do something similar with my ferrets!
Love this video
If only the camera wasn’t there, there would be less time, but less nose toots too
I think the kitties might've been more... encouraged to run the maze were they to smell something tasty near the end.
Conner: *watches everyone else complete the maze then fails it.* You had ONE job!
Figures out the food is outside the maze and says, "screw this."
love how cats made you to solve it for them 🤣
Love the effort!
Great work guys❤
Hrm since ferrets burrow it would make sense that they can run mazes and memorize routes.
I thought for sure your ferrets were going to get it, but the yellow ferret kinda got it backwards!!! haha
Tito is King!
Raccoon: I'm pretty sure this invisible barrier on the top is a bug. Fix your game!
Cat: You appear to have mistaken me for the sort of animal that cares about impressing you.
Ferret: Oh, this is just like a tunnel I'd hunt rats in, but cleaner and roomier.
Agreed. The raccoons seemed to want to go over the shortcut but the plexiglas was blocking the fastest route. Cats want to do what cats want to do. If you got them to chase a laser pointer through there then you'd see them move.
Loved the vid as always
I don't know why I expected anything else of cats. This is beautiful. Such character.
I never dreamed Sat. nights would consist of watching animals in maze. Lol. Cheeto smelled the path of the others so he CHEATED. DISQUALIFIED!!😁😁
So Tito is back! Yay! I decided to read the comments and didn't think there'd be a "spoiler". I'm so glad he made it home safe
@@cindylouwho7245 OMG, I'm sorry, I meant Cheektowaga. I'll change that. I'm just so use to Tito. Again, I'm very sorry.
While I'm unsure whether this is really effective at measuring base intelligence....I feel this has great potential in behavioral study on how problem solving is dependent on hunting and /or gatherimg habits.....
This guy is just a really neat human being.
FERRETS ARE THE SUPERIOR ANIMAL, YES. Well, the white one was a little confused but, lol.
Invalid comparrison: Ferrets like tunnels and make them.
A little? Haha! Although, to be fair, the cats would probably still be in there if he hadn't helped them.
@@JohnnytheYouKnowWhat I would suggest a rope pulled open door or some sort of problem solving obstacle within the maze itself.
I bet with the covers off and all the critters in a good mood, they'd have a ball playing on and in the maze, especially now that they're familiar with it :3
Yeah they’d play soccer
The cats are just like "whatever... My human will get me out of here eventually"
Smarter is relative. In the wild, being fast is often less important than being safe.
That was fascinating
Cheeto killed it 😂
You other slackers were lollygagging around! 🤣
LOL; so cute! The ferret was just racing through, lol. I bet a hamster would beat them all, lol.
If you put the hamster and cat in at same time it for sure would have a faster time. Then again so would the cat in that scenario.....
I knew ferrets would have the fastest time because between 4, 3 of them will not stay in one spot unless they are sleeping, eating, or pooping. The other one is just super CHONKY and just hangs out
I like how Conner didn't even try he just rubbed his face on the corners
The cats were waiting for the mice to enter the maze....that is why they took so long!
Stay safe, stay sane, be well
Was I your 600k subscriber😱lol love the Channel man I just subscribed today love them animals💯👍🏽
Great video, fun and entertaining to watch: would like to see how the cats and ferrets learn the course if each is given 3 to 4 opportunities to run it alone. Keep up the great work.
THEY ARE SOOOO CUTE
how cute i want a kkkk i love raccoons i even have stickers send me a heart tito you are my favorite channel
Aww the first kitty to complete the maze earned that food! Hope he got special treats 🤗
2:25 the cats appeared as if to provide Piper with moral support 😂🥰
