Absolutely! Reggie grew up in LA, BIG Lakers fan, and yet he started admiring Larry when he was at UCLA. It's too bad Reggie (and Larry) didn't get that NBA Championship back in 2000, because it would have been soooo cool watching Reggie and Larry embracing and celebrating. I like Reggie alot more now, he's alot of fun to listen too and he knows alot about the game, past and present. Kudos to larry legend and Reggie for a great and entertaining interview.

  • @twinwankel

Larry Freak'ng Bird!!! If anyone has ever witnessed him play, you will never forget it. This man can do anything and everything he wanted to do on court. If he could imagine it in his mind, it was done. He was just that talented. I'm mean no one fulfilled the WOW factor more than Bird. There are many highlighted videos of him that just make your jaw drop. But believe me, you really had to watch him play live, either on TV or in person. And he is just so humble that he never talks about himself in interview. You have pester him to get any info on how he played. He will always say how great other players were and yes they were great until they are compared to you. And then they pale. Of course, there will never be another man with your natural basketball talent. You made the game look so easy and you terrorized everyone. Literally terrorized his opponents to the point where some either had chronic nightmares or quit basketball altogether. There are youtube videos of players that quit the NBA because of him. And no one has said that about any other player. That's why he's called the Legend. And that's why the GOAT label is too restrictive. His true title is simply God on the basketball court (GOTBC).

"I never worked on my 3-point shot" - the winner of the first 3, 3-point shootouts in the NBA. ....and he didn't. He didn't need to. What he had was pure, and nightmarish. What we see today with the 3 is evolution of the game. It's not bad, it's what 20-30 years does to the adjustment of how the game is played. As much as Larry is maybe the GOAT, Pistol Pete was 50 years ahead of his time, that dude was 70% Steph, with 30% white chocolate.

I'll bet Bird can remember every shot he took, or any stand out play his teammates made. Bird brought anticipation to the game. On offense you didn't know if he would shoot a three, or go inside to the post, do that beautiful fall away or make a blind pass. Not to mention his rebounding. I loved watching Bird and the Celtics Parrish, McHale, DJ, Ainge and even Walton when he arrived. Walton was a great passer. That doesn't begin to tell what a great team the Celtics were in the 1980's.

This is very typical Larry Bird. You know that many have tried, but failed, to get him on their show, or, to do an interview. My guess is that 99% who inquiry never get past his agent or team spokesperson.
But, his loyalty to former teammates and players that he had coached (and respects) is deep and irreversible. Once you are his friend (this comes directly from Magic) you have a friend for life.
Reggie, who was sitting in for Dan Patrick, enhanced the program by getting in a great guest; Mr. Larry Joe Bird. Larry knew that his coming on the show would be a boost for Reggie, who did a great interview.
His questions to Larry were spot on. You never want to ask Larry a really stupid question. He will call you out in it, and then turn to answering all subsequent questions in mono syllables...an interviewer’s nightmare.
    Love the Larry.

I always tell my Grandson when he picks his 2k teams, be sure to get Oscar Robertson, Shaq, Bill Russell, Jerry West, Magic, & Bird. He was a great player, a great coach, & I can finally say just a great person. Well done, Reggie, you're a bad boy too! (Btw when OKC got the Sonics/Thunder I had to go for them, home team & all. +Ty Wilson hmm.probably the guy that's more durable, stronger, faster, just as smart, just as good of a passer,HAS PLAYED FOR LONGER IN THE NBA,has more mvps, more career points and assist with just as many titles as Larry with the 3rd coming against a 73 win team.the man you love to hate the most😏The King

+Ty Wilson I mean you made up weaknesses.lebron has had to live up to pressure no other player has dreamed of.that takes mental toughness.to discipline your self to get to the league without a father in your life takes mental toughness.TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP FOR A CITY THAT HASN'T WON ANYTHING FOR HALF A CENTURY AGAINST A 73 WIN TEAM TAKES MENTAL TOUGHNESS.so miss me with that bullshit.by the way lebron and michael are TOP 2 for playoff buzzer beaters and go ahead shots in the final 10 seconds and in overtime.as usual a lebron hater catches work once again.witness greatness bitch.and do some research before you blabber out lies

Really was. The mutual respect and admiration each have for one another is terrific. Each succeeded beyond nearly everyone's expectations. Bird, too slow, supposedly didn't have the greatest H.S or collegiate competition. Reggie, had serious problems with his legs as a child, too skinny. Turns out they both did fine, to say the least.
