    I hope we all know that it doesn't matter who is in the 'top job' because this is a systemic problem -- greed. We have allowed many of our economic sectors, to take advantage of the American people. It's disgusting and frightening for the future of our country. My wife and I will be retiring in the next two years n another country.
    We are absolutely worried that SSI will no longer be funded. we'll have to rely on his pension, a 403 (b) and a very prolific Investment account with my Stephanie Janis Stiefel my FA. Our national debt is bloating and expanding every month. Our government needs to get spending under control and cut the federal budget.

    So many comments here from people who clearly have no clue what tariffs are or what they do to an economy, and are just willing to take Trump’s word for it. Moreover, so many seem to be terribly threatened by the audacity of a foreigner to ask these legitimate questions in an interview that Trump himself agreed to. Tough interviews are part of the job, people, and if he can’t deal with them he doesn’t deserve the office.

      The American companies do not want to pay people what they're worth. That's why all the companies have gone out of the country. Good luck getting anyone to work in a loud, dusty factory standing on a concrete floor all day for minimum wage. It's not happening. Our society is more educated and informed than ever before and has realized that they don't have to do back breaking work to make a living like 20-30 years ago. The factories are gone and never coming back. The only thing the tariffs will do is raise the prices of everything or force companies to stop doing business with us and sell there goods in other countries.

    • @hawleygriffin1800
      @hawleygriffin1800 2 месяца назад

      @@realdj3bka40 That's not it. There's a famous youtube video of Trump giving David Letterman a Trump necktie. Letterman points out that "it's made in China." Trump just sits there shrugging and smirking. Turns out the $59.99 Trump Bible is also printed in China. Why? Because the average manufacturing wage in China is $12,000 per year and the average manufacturing wage in the U.S. is $34,000. Trump has his Bibles and neckties and everything else he sells made in China because he gets to make more money because he doesn't have to pay U.S. wages. Trump is railing against the very thing he's been doing for 20 years. So Trump's wrong when he says tariffs are going to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. because he can't fix the wage problem. Also, people don't realize that the tariffs are paid by Walmart and Costco and every other place that imports goods from outside the country. If you squeeze a balloon it squeezes out somewhere else. Your choices are to pay higher prices at Walmart and Costco because U.S. manufacturers have to pay higher wages to U.S. workers to have their stuff made here, or you can pay higher prices at Walmart and Costco because you have to pay for Trump's tariffs that U.S. companies have to pay to the government for the things that come from China and Mexico. Or . . . you can continue paying the cheap prices at Walmart and Costco because stuff is made where labor is the cheapest.

    Increasing tariff while it might protect producers in US it severely harms the mass consumers. If production is only in the US this means that these companies have less competition against foreign companies hence they will be able to set higher prices. And for the consumers since they dont have as many options as before they will be forced to buy at higher prices. And if tariffs set to bring jobs back to the US. I worked in a factory impacted by the Steel tariffs. Net result was that we had to buy American steel but the steel industry wasn’t ready for such a massive influx of customers so the supply was down and demand up netting way more expensive products for the customer.
    That’s how tariffs work for businesses. It forces a smaller company to rapidly expand which strains it and can force them to grow too fast meaning a shut down (like the rust belt in general). Slapping tariffs randomly on things isn’t smart and only ends up hurting everyone involved minus a small group of people.

    Here’s an ABC on tariffs folks. When we put tariffs on cars we import our trade partners also put counter tariffs on things we export overseas. So our products become also uncompetitive. If we can’t sell our products overseas then we have to make less. Making less means we don’t need to employ as many workers (job loses). Products we make and sell only here all of a sudden will be more expensive (due to higher labour and part cost plus low volumes). This makes these local companies less profitable. What happens to less profitable businesses? 😮

      USMCA is the agreement made by Trump which replaced NAFTA. Under Biden manufacturing is coming jobs are coming back to the US and unemployment is at the lowest level in decades. As far as tariffs go, it's consumers that ultimately pay the tariffs, not the country of origin as Trump claims. Tariffs are fine to discourage products that are artificially underpriced, but just slapping tariffs on everything is counterproductive. We add tariffs on their goods and they add tariffs on our goods.

    Two points; 1. The story is almost certainly, like pretty much everything else he says, a complete lie. 2. He hasn’t the first clue how tariffs work. He says he wants to place a tariff on all imports. That fee will be paid by the consumer (ie the American people, $2,000 iPhone anyone??) and will send inflation soaring, interest rates will rise to counter the inflation and the US will end up in multiple trade disputes with other countries with it’s export markets drying up ruining the jobs market. Everything trump says indicates that he thinks tariffs are somehow paid by the importing country as a fee for doing business in America. And remember pretty much everything else he is planning to do is being paid for by either borrowing or his tariffs so, if the tariff threat is just a negotiating position (as some of his supporters are claiming) how does he plan to pay for all the spending on the other stuff he’s promised?

    • @richardhall4830
      @richardhall4830 2 месяца назад

      You don't have the first clue. First it's rhetoric to gain votes in the rust belt. Second he spouted the same stuff before 2016 then his tariff program was both limited and in most cases short lived. In fact weren't interest rates low in his first term? Third your belly aching about a few tariffs but fine with the state planning 40% of the economy and colossally high taxes on individuals which are far worse for the economy in totality than Trump show boating about tariffs.

The US economy and interest rates in particular tracked the global economy and interest rates and trumps economy was nothing special compared to most other developed countries in the period 2016-20. What happened under Biden, post Covid, happened globally and is generally accepted as being a result of global supply chain disruption followed by the largest land war in Europe since WW2. The difference is the Biden economy has recovered faster than any other country in the world. Plus it’s easy to forget that in 2020 pretty much all the economic experts were predicting a recession and that didn’t happen in the US under Biden. He’s made some mistakes but the economy isn’t one of them.

What about silly cheap stuff that China is still sending, Mexico.. and so on. High tariffs will increase price as no one will be willing to produce spoons in the us as a margin is too low.. clothes, and so on.. products will keep coming but it will cost more. That’s it. The British journalist was awesome with pushback and correcting Trump. Trump got agitated and attacked the journalist. He doesn’t like to be critiqued or criticize and hates journalists.
    What’s up with the crowd clapping and laughing at Trumps insults. 🤦🏻‍♂️😱🤡😝
    Trump forgot he had wars. So when MAGA says we were at war remind them of Trump’s wars.
    -Trump bom&ed Syria.
    -Trump also bom&ed Yemen
    -Trump also bom&ed Somalia
    -Trump dropped the "mother of all bom&s" on Afghanistan and bragged about it.
    -Trump assassinated a foreign military leader.
    -He deserted the Kurds.
    -In Iraq and Syria alone, Trump drone strikes killed an estimated 13,400 civilians, per Airwars
    -Trump INCREASED troop levels in Afghanistan by 25% -Trump bragged about relaxing "rules of engagement" in Afghanistan, which nearly doubled civilian casualties
    -Trump pulled out of the INF Treaty -Trump pulled out of the Open Skies Treaty
    -Trump LOVES Putin's slaughter of Ukraine civilians, calling it "genius" and "savvy"
    Trump pulled out of the Iran nuke treaty, even though our military insisted Iran was complying. So any future Iranian nukes will be 100% on Trump, thanks to Trump.
    Iran strike caused troops brain injury. Trump ignored the severity called it headaches.
    And Trump lied to everyone you love that it was safe to "fill the pews on Easter" in 2020; he's on tape telling Bob Woodward it's a "deadly" "airborne killer" the exact same week. He had the vaccine told his base not to.
    Trump had an open border babies ripped from mothers made them orphans & trafficked. He ordered GOP to reject the bipartisan border deal so he had chaos for his campaign rhetoric. Trump lies.

It's ridiculous to think that someone who fumbles her way through every interaction looks like she's losing her mind, spends endless extra time talking around herself to get to her own point, which she usually ends up making a great argument against btw would even be considered for president. The choice to put her forward disenfranchised many voters like myself, and I would much rather have seen a different Democrat in her place. The DNC panicked after Joe did poorly in a single debate. Other countries don’t pay on tariffs the US puts on imported goods.
      It’s the importer who pays (the US), and in the end the consumer because the importer increases the price.
      This is fine IF the imported goods are also produced in the US. Forcing importers to choose US made stuff instead.
      However, majority of things ARENT produced in the US. And when there’s no alternative then you just raised prices for no reason.
      MAYBE it’ll incentivize US companies to start producing said goods. And that’s a good thing.
