Fabricated Housing Blanks

- Like any good structure, a solid foundation is a pivotal component. Fabricated sheet metal rear end housings have been commonplace in the world of motorsports for decades. There are dozens of companies that churn out cheap housing blanks as a foundation for builders to construct their own housing, but the results are always limited by the initial construction, or lack thereof.
Tim McAmis and company have been producing premium housing blanks based off the Ford 9” platform for over 30 years. Over the decades, the process has been refined over and over. The result is a solid foundation for building a custom sheet metal housing. Strength, ease of construction, usability and overall engineering allow almost anyone to produce a quality housing with basic skills and tooling.
This video goes in depth on blank housings, how they are made, the benefits in using one and much more!

The Man is still alive!
I hope you read some of the comments posted here. When I was about 65 I went back to vo tec to get my certificate as a welder. I thought, there is no way I wanted to retire & had always dreamed of becoming a welder. When I was doing the TIG part of the course I would get half way thru the aluminum, perfect stacked dimes. I got so excited I was on the right track I screwed up the rest of the welding. At the end no one would hire an apprentice at that age. That was 10 years ago.
At the 1:57 mark the stacked dimes are a work of art! I know it would not be selling your product but please feature a few of your welders in action. Please tell them for me I hope they read this comment, darn!, they are good! What craftsmanship!
Thank you Tim! We have never been so presumptuous to dare ask to have such a "top shelf " option... Thanks again! Seth
counter bored stud threads to reduce swellign around the holes is a super nice touch
I miss your videos glad to see there coming back
Thank you Tim for all the work and tech videos you have present to the many of us in need.
Great to see you back on YT Tim 😎👍
You guys are awesome! Thanks for all your help. Love that you are getting more into LS stuff 💯
Nice Dillon picture!😅 Gonna need a funnel to get that head through the door!!
beautiful housing ! Thanks for the update. Most appreciated. I hope to see more on YT.
Thank you for your knowledge and videos USA 🇺🇸
Miss your content. Even just you shooting the shit about any topic you are passionate about.
We used to do those as a student project at Wyotech. I've overseen building hundreds of them. We even figured out geometry to make a round rear face and bells.
It's not as easy as you make it look!
Miss seeing your videos
thanks Tim
Just the best !!!
Very nice looking craftsmanship.
Expert description. Great products.
Good looking housing.
Quality work!
We need more
Beautiful welds
Very nice 👌
Has the NHRA Pro Mod Driver Starter Kit been updated ?
Hi Tim 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Nice.
Nice
What about using one of there on a leaf spring truck.
Do you relieve the 4130 after welding it? Not sure it matters, or whatever, just curious about the manufacturing process.
Hey Tim, what do you think of these guys running 3 to 5,000 horsepower cars with open transmission tunnels?
is there any straightening that has to be done after welding the Back Brace on?
We keep everything fixtured with an alignment tube as well. When doing a custom/complete fabricated housing, we also machine and resurface the faceplate after everything is welded.
I was having trouble with another brand of housing leaking. I took it apart and the front was warped over 20 thou. I had to lap it flat
Can't take shit for granted, gotta check all your clearances and tolerances when ya get it. "New" just means it's never worked before. Stay safe, go fast brother.
That sucks, but not unheard of. This is why when doing a custom/complete fabricated housing, we re-machine and resurface the faceplate after everything is welded.
@@Timmcamis that sounds like a good process

Tim, My firewall /AV won't let me go to your website - it is flagged as containing dangerous or potentially unwanted content. You're on a list of these websites apparently. Have you been hacked? better check things out!
Sounds like an issue with youir firewall, not his website. Just checked it is "Google Safebrowsing" certified.
Edit: I should add sites get added by mistake all the time. Let everyone know the firewall provider, and also notify them of the error.
Not sure how it got on there, but we have looked into it and everything is in spec. Thank you for looking out. Was it a firewall at a business?
Because it is dangerous.... to you spending money and having a sweet racecar!
Probably something your wife set up when she noticed you ran out of room on the shop fridge for Tim McAmis stickers.
@@Timmcamis Could it be the BBC 4 link bar video?
