I currently work on the UPWIND project at FEUP, Portugal and we are also developing this technology using a rtf glider. We are hoping to bring new developments near future. Nice video btw!

Great comparison 👍 I invested in EnerKite myself.

Thanks Rod. We have noted it and when we do any revision of the video we will include it. Quite an interesting concept.

If no wind a helium filled delta kite floats 100 ft high.
Wind above 4 mph causes top kite to rise and pull a train of kites up.
Hose connects all kites so air pressure runs a generator on the ground.
Weight pulls kite train back in when wind is too light.

Thanks for the summary. Does anyone know of any recent up-to-date videos of where AWES are going? They seem no brainers, but are there just too many hurdles? What would the equivalent of a 3MW turbine look like (considering a 3MW turbine over a year, produces 750Kw on average.)?

I also has a design for this kite energy project , hoping it will suffice our energy needs.

Interesting pronunciations in places especially ‘Makani’ whose first ‘a’ is actually stressed and the second is more ‘at’.
Some like KPS (Kitemill bought the rights) have stopped trading.

That's right Mike. We are at the very beginning of some technological developments, and many will fail, as it happen to other technological solutions. Countless failed in bringing wind or PV to the current situation but without them success wouldn't have been achieved. Similar may happen to the airborne wind systems. Let's give them some credits and recognition for trying. If some of them succeed, the impact may be huge!!!.
