❤❤❤❤ I'm 100% behind you and every farmer Charlotte, it's a disgrace that the party of the working person is going to ruin the hardest working industry, in my opinion. NO FARMERS NO FOOD. Tax the companies making billions in profit at the end of the line. Not the people at the start of the line.

I am not a farmer but I am a Lancashire lass that grew up around farms and not just in uk .. I follow you and Tom, and a couple of farmers in Oz etc .. my mother’s family were market gardeners .. I used to grow my own and it’s hard work .. I hope you and all the other farmers know we are behind you 100% this government by far is the absolute worst we have had ever … and I hope you give them hell .. we all know the supermarkets make the money and I think farms should get the milk trucks out and deliver to street corners like they did years ago go .. and sell there produce direct to public .. and don’t forget to boycott deliveries to no 10 … Give them hell

When that food is not in the shops, people do not connect a farm with the supermarket.

Completely agree with you about informing the public. Absolutely agree. I just bought a Fed by Farmers hat (which I couldn't afford) to wear around London in the hope it starts some checkout or bus-stop conversations. The government has clearly stated this is their fox-hunting or mining-style issue. My worry is food security, and big companies buying up land won't help with that.

100% on the money Charlotte. Farmers are at the mercy of commodity buyers. The further farmers can get to the end product/ sale to consumers, the better price they will get. For instance if a sheep has a lamb, that lamb can be sold at any point, but if the lamb is kept and fed right through to direct sale to consumer the price can be set by the producers. The quality can be better also. This is why small farms are so important to the country and to the wellbeing of all involved, including the general public but especially the farming families. But for this to happen the gulf of miss education or lack of needs to be overcome.

Great video Charlotte. The message needs to be shouted loud, the price of cereals and a lot of other things are going up because of short supply but the farmers will not see a penny of it. The cereal buyers are paying the farmers the same but selling at higher prices simply because apart from milk demand is greater than supply and when was the last time the dairy farmers got a per litre increase? The food manufacturers e.g. Breakfast cereals, Baked goods, meat & dairy then charge more and the shops pass that cost on to the customer. I'm lucky that I have several "Farm shops" near to where I live (Including Tom Pemberton's) and though they can be more expensive than the budget supermarkets you are always assured of traceability and quality. Like the old saying goes "You get what you pay for" 👍.

Hey thirty five years ago my wife and I had to convince a neighbour’s child that pigs were turned into sausages! They lived in the country! I doubt it is much different today.
Regrettably we cannot always gain by looking back. Yes the Labour government post war pushed farming because the was no money for purchase of foreign food. My introduction to NHS was a teaspoonful of orange juice daily from a 20oz bottle. That was it! My Father paid £200 for my Mother’s laying in in 1946 for my birth.
Now contained food prices functioned because there were no wage rises and everything was nationalised. One problem nothing worked not even the workforce. Socialism is wonderful in front of the fire but falls flat on its face in the street. This is in process of happening again now. Capitalism creates and we hang on the edges for a living socialism spends until there is nothing. Is there a middle way? Apparently not and society around the world wobbles between the two. Today we have the internet a societies everywhere are realising there are very rich and the poor. It is just a matter of how poor you are. Remember you are poorer than a government minister so they don’t care.

The public by in large don’t care where food comes from as long as it is cheap. Farmers are seen as those who dirty the roads, hold up traffic and cause a smell. Farmers will always be on the back foot as long as the government are against them and are hand in hand with the food processors. Also many people think farmers are minted when they see the big machinery. The family farm barely makes enough to keep a family even after 100’s of hours work per week. The time has come for the supermarkets to pass on substantial profits to farmers.

I just want to add, take a look back to the days of BSE. Farmers lost thousands upon thousands of pounds at that time ( per farm) , because they fed offal as a protein to their animals. Well I don’t know of any farmer who requested or knowingly fed this protein. They ordered a ration from the Feed suppliers not knowing what was in it. The feed suppliers kept very quiet and didn’t loose a penny and weren’t held to account, yet values of farm animals plummeted. The government or any other body did nothing to help and just let the feed suppliers off the hook leaving the farmer to burden horrendous losses. Seems the farmer gets kicked in the guts every time.

The disconnect with the food and farmers is down to the supermarkets perfect example being meat instead of seeing the butchers shop with the lambs and sides of pork hanging in the window people see a sterile plastic tub or vacpac of meat. Also the supermarkets with the various offers hide the true cost of items.

I think that the tax thing in the uk has grown legs mainly because it is the straw that broke the camels back, rules and regulations ( many of which are totally nonsensical) have been imposed on agriculture for decades and the justification was that we were getting the cheque in the post to compensate us, now the cheque in the post is a pittance and we are still being forced to abide with all the red tape. The truth is that Europe starved after the last war and food prices went through the roof, government adopted the cheap food policy to make food affordable and plentiful, that has been totally abandoned of late and huge food conglomerates are in total control of the whole food supply and distribution, they pay as little as possible to the farmer because they know that farmers have no option but to take what they are given and charge the consumer whatever they like. Just look at the billions in profits that Tesco announced lately, they claim to be looking after the consumer, yet they make billions in profits? We need to explain to people that they have to become interested in where their food comes from because if they don’t and allow governments to make farming completely unviable, forcing farmers to sell up to for the most part to non agricultural entities who want the land for non agricultural uses ( carbon sinks, trees, rewilding, even re wetting and for energy production, solar panels and crops for bio digesters) they will have to pay the same huge conglomerates vastly more for their food, by vastly more, I mean something like it was in the early part of the last century when food accounted for 50 percent of the average household spend. If the people allow governments to eliminate farmers especially family farms, they will never get them back. Protest and protest and fight against the unfair treatment of farmers but the truth is that will never influence any government Unless you can get the general public to agree with you because the farming community is so small that they can’t influence any election on their own so you need the backing of the public to get any government to stop victimising farmers. Sorry for the long rant but this isn’t just a uk issue it’s a problem all over the world and if farmers ( internationally) don’t halt this insane nonsense that is being championed by many governments we will see widespread famine across the world within a decade or two . Regards from Ireland.

I’m one of those who likes the variety in your videos on farm and off farm, sheep, cows shit scraping the lot 😂. Can you not lift the grill and put the hose into the drain? Be careful when you’re using rods with nothing on the end as you can punch a hole in the bottom of the pipe and it won’t be easy to fix. You’re right a lot of people don’t make the connection between farm and food. There needs to be more education. They need to support you farmers or they will be paying higher prices for poor grade imported food.

But still I'm quite important in my way
The job I have to do may not sound much to you
But all the same, I'm very proud to say
