ayeee I'm glad you're digging my delicate lead preset, dude
Sounds great bro!
hi :3
How Can I get That preset on my Quad Cortex? 😮
I wish i could have the chance to even jam with Josh.
I respect naturally he's got his own visions in how he approaches this art undoubtedly.
He really is his own ascended version of a guitarist, a frequency theorist with no limits when it comes to providing emotion to complexity.
I respect the technicalities of his gear as he articulates those intricacies.
What drives me to appreciate him as a musician is how he encapsulates the competency of his knowledgeable perspective with improv and waves for melodic communication.
As a primarily identified Drummer while being a keys player and somewhat a dabbling guitarist in micro-experiences, i got to say in drumming, i see the appeal in why Matt loves to assist in brushing the textures they solidify as a pair of musicians that appreciate each other melodical and, i suppose sonically.
I hope this comment ages well, cause i dont like to talk much.
Also.
Learning to pan right now with the NobixForce which feels weird isolating, but I'm starting to feel in real-time how it's an important factor towards recognizing the musicians you're working with.
Thanks for sharing your feels and knowledgeable perspectives, Josh.
What is NobixForce?
Thanks a lot for recording these longer format videos that go much more into detail about your composition and recording process!
One of the most inspiring things I've seen in a long time. Thanks, Josh!
Amazing video! I knew that the QC had the capability to be used as an audio interface, but I never thought that the signal could be sent back via the usb to the QC. That opens so much possibilities. even to use outboard gear in the QC loops.
Would be an interesting challenge to also mix with the QC as outboard gear.
It has an 1176, SSL bus comp, an opto, EQs etc
You might even be able to monitor the mix bus with the SSL bus comp while still working on individual tracks and bouncing those one after another.
Also now with CorOS 3 enabling sidechain compression, you could even use it as a de-esser.
it really is awesome getting to save all the processing in your computer by running everything through QC. such a sweet workflow, and the song is sick as well!!
Thanks!! I’m fortunate enough to not need to save processing power in my computer anymore, but it’s also just fun to try sounds I don’t have plug-ins for 😁
Watched the vid and here to say something nice! This workflow seems very promising for people like myself that doubt their decisions when making music. I most definitely have to try this!
Using QC as an interface is a game changer, such a slept on feature!!
and you can even use it as a mixer for a small act. Like a mic or two, a couple guitars, and record all four channels at the same time.
Great job, brotha! Love this so much!
Man!!!! That`s amazing!!!
Sounds super profound. Thanks for inspiring me during dark times.
have you used the Quad Cortex as audio interface for vocal recording? Not many presets for VOX on there and wonder if you found something or created a preset for vox that you liked. thanks for the vid!
A QC and a HiGole micro PC running Ableton is an awesome tiny live rig
wow. the music.
Great work 🙂
I loveee the idea of using it as outboard gear.
This is so sick! I just got a QC and this is exactly how I was hoping to apply it to my workflow. Do you ever record DIs and print the tone afterwards? I'm trying to think of the best way to get DIs while recording with it.
I usually record a di at the same time as a printed tone, that way I can change it if I want but the performance still has the tone
@@assassin1872 Yeah I figured the best way might just be the classic route. Get the printed tone on one track and the DI on another
@@nickbroomhallmusic Yes, you can directly record from the QC's input 1 (or 2) onto one track and from whatever USB out you set on the grid to another track.
So you don't have to route the DI inside the QC separately.
You only worry about the processed sound on the QC's grid and record the DI separately in the background by selecting "Input 1" on the DI track in Logic.
Very cool, though I guess I would be more interested in seeing something more crazy like using the quad cortex as a vst3 plugin instead. So, recording direct to any interface, add the non-existent plugin to the track, and now the track's audio is processed by the quad cortex
Sounds good 👍
this was so dope man!
when the goat uploads yk you're gonna be eating good. great vid as always
Take a shot for every time you say Quad Cortex! But seriously - always super inspiring to see your workflow and the results🤘
Hello Joshua, great video!
What drums are you using on this video?
I was using my Line 6 as an interface before diving down the Neural rabbit hole and getting 3 plugins. I liked their sound and streamlined nature more than building line 6 presets. Plus, the option of recording a DI that you can tinker with made it a no brainer to go solely plugins. I ended up selling my line 6 and got a cheap behringer interface with fits my space with its smaller form factor. I also sold my suhr and got one of the Emi 8's when they dropped. Bringing an 8 to church gigs and blues jams feels out of place so that killed my need for a live audio setup.
When I do financially recover from getting into photograph (fuji xs10 with 18-55 kit) I'll probably save my way to a custom build 6 string and the QC. Until then I'm perfectly content with plugins.
Great vid! Love the detail!
great video!! helpful as! can you show the setup of the QC to the computer? thanks again for sharing!
I have another video on my channel showing my desk set up! It’s just connected to my computer with a usb cable
Are you able to save all those outboard settings in your DAW project for easy recall? If so, that's a real bonus.
Sounds so good Josh!
always great to hear
I really enjoy these behind the scenes songwriting videos. Also the lead guitar has some nods to Forgetting by Portraits if I'm not mistaken?
My guy! Fantastic video. Excellent song. When is the album dropping?
great video! love it. question for ya, which plugin do you think is great as a first plugin?
Awesome!
love your work
Clever and creative!
I had the same idea too using the quad cortex as outboard gear for sound designing other instruments. not sure how to do it yet. Can you do a tutorial please?
Nice video! Where’d you get that stand for the QC?
This is amazing!!
I've been having a grand ol time experimenting with mixing/matching plugin elements just in the FX chain of my guitar channel in the DAW. Asato Amps into Rebea cabs back into Asato Tape Delay into Rabea Delay and Reverb. It would be fantastic if Neural developed an interface/system for doing this like you're describing and doing with the Cortex system.
Very cool! Another reason to buy QC, which I still don't have :D
amazing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Soooo new Victoria dropping soon?
Something nice !
Great song Josh! I really liked it!
I think the only drawback of this workflow for me would be forgetting which preset I used for which instrument (see 19:06), especially if I'm returning to a project after several months :)
Congrats!
I don’t know about other DAWs but Logic has a notepad feature to save info about your sessions within your project. It’s super helpful for the point you bring up
rad
I do the same, i only use the modeler as interface
This is hot
tutorial on writing midi proficiently, pleease?
awesome!! did you make any processing on the master bus?
it's a decent interface but it SHOULD be supporting 96kHz
This is absolutely something I wanted to try with my modeler! Did you have to mess with the QC input gain when reamping/effecting the bass DI or drum cymbals for it to sound good?
I didn’t have to adjust anything for the bass. For the cymbals, I added a gain block to boost the volume 👍
Ignorant question - how are you getting the MIDI instruments to then record onto the audio tracks? (Eg: the cymbals that you end up reversing). Would LOVE to understand this completely. I've always used my QC as my main interface but it's clear I could be using it much more in depth than how I am haha
amazing walkthrough! Curius question how are you recording the video of this? is it just straight into the camera and then edited after or are you doing it like a stream style where its a source being recorded while you screen record? Keep up the awesome videos!
Thanks! So I’m recording from my camera, mic, and computer screen all separately at the same time. Then I sync everything in post. This allows me to have the highest quality I can. The problem with recording "stream style" is that you lose so much quality
@@JoshuaDeLaVictoriaraw hdmi out on some cameras is actually better quality than the sd compressed files
@@clarenegraceyI’ve noticed the opposite where hdmi out ruined the quality so bad. But since you’re saying that, it probably depends on what cable or capture card you’re using.
@@iszlu mostly the camera mate
@@clarenegracey you would expect that even from a canon DSLR?
Hell yeah
How do you get your crunch tone man😭
It’s just the default Plini x preset with the gain on the amp turned up a bit more!
