The Madame de Pompadour episode of Doctor Who back in the day is still one of my favorites. She was such an incredible woman and the show did her a compliment. I always hated that he didn’t go back and get her before her death.
Madame De Pompadour had more influence than many of the men in court! The fact she had something to do with the Treaty of Versailles is monumental on its own! So much life in such a short time! Nice reveal at the end! But get ready for marriage proposals haha!
@@sergejstankovic2709 well , i don't think you can glorify her with having caused such decisive calamities. Her goal was to seduce the King, she succeed at that. It's a woman's way of doing politics.

Nice to “see” the face behind the Voice! Great narrative this time, as usual, too. One wonders about that convenient death of Mme. Chaterrand (sp?) only a year after Louis meets Pompadour. Thanks again, Forgotten Lives. You’re so young to be so wise. (Almost rhymes, doesn’t it?)
Some French people will cling to anything from the past, including aristocracy, as they see it as the "purest" of times, when France was only populated by French, and not "polluted" by the eclectic population France has today . What's funny is, France stole African men and kids as young as 13 to fight front row in WW2, then she used some more as almost free laborers to reconstruct the country after the war, while still using the "ancient" colonies as her personal bank. Yet more than half of the French citizens hate the fact that Black, Brown and Muslim people live in their "republic" , when those people never asked to be there to begin with. It's like the racist americans who ask the decedents of stolen Africans to "go back home" whenever they express a desire to have a sub culture, keep some personal traditions, or simply denounce the injustices perpetuated against them. France has an enormous problem with her past and she makes the wrong people pay for it. France went to get cheap labor from Africa until..1998. Those people have kids now, and yet, they want them to leave when THEY made France what it is today by working for Reno, Citroen and other big corporations for almost one fifth of the salary of a white or french worker. Absolutely "loved" your video about, Madame de Pompadour, chief mistress to King Louis XV, of France. She was a very fascinating woman of which I didn't know who did alot of political, social, personal, responsibilities for the King and France. I believe her and her mother probably thought the fortune teller meant she would be the wife of a king not the mistress, as it turned out. I'm sorry, but "such a pretty boy" sounds like you're talking to a budgie. 😆 Not picking on what you said, it's just that I had budgies as a child and it's what we'd say.
So basically, she traded the love of a husband and a life of happiness and comfort for a life of greater wealth and moral decay as a royal side chick. Why people seem ok with settling for a piece of a partner rather than the whole thing is baffling to me. I hope I never understand how people can be Ok with cutting in on other people's relationships. It's extremely selfish not to mention tacky.(still is) P.S. You're a handsome looking guy. So glad to put a face to a voice. I wish you all the best.
@@virginiagobetz9084 It was different in the sense that women were LESS likely to have a husband who truly loved them, and yet she STILL gave it up for wealth and power. If I'm not mistaken, I think that was the point of the original post. In other ways, it's not a different world at all. Women still do the very same.
@@jesussaves6625 Men do it too! See JLo (1. Waiter. 2. Back-up dancer. 3. Amazing singer. 4. Yankee HOF). Not to mention Halle Berry who pays through the wah-zoo to her daughter’s baby-daddy! Don’t think she pays the son’s dad. Ironically, she has a thing for les mecs Francais.
Back then...much like now, it was a chance to raise your lot in life. The difference is if you were the kings mistress/concubine back then, even if (and they usually did) they showed you respect. You gained that along with a wealth you never had. Even if it was for a time. I could go on, but....it's still wrong. Oh well.

Oh! Hello! Nice to see ya! Lovely, handsome young man. You look about the age of my sons. Your parents must be really proud of you. xx
I hope so :)
You are a perfect mix of brains and beauty. Amazing channel; informative and a voice that hugs my brain
Excellent bio of a misunderstood and unappreciated intelligent woman. I'm a new subscriber because of this video.
Thank you for your video! Great to see the face to to voice. Have a Happy New Year!
Happy new year!!

Very interesting and well told, definitely subscribing to your channel!
Wow what a life. Thanks forgotten lives
Thank's F.L.of course i new Madame de Pompadour but i learn always something new at your channel ❤❤
Very good point and thanks :)
It was a very different world at that time.
Oh well.
Its nice to see you at last. I think it makes a big difference seeing the face behind all the hard work.
About the story , I cannot help feeling sorry for the French queen having to put up with all her husbands' girlfriends. I wonder if she was allowed lovers.
Happy New Year.
Beautifully done!!!
I loved the face reveal at the end! Such a handsome young man you are!😊
Well Done Sir!!! Thank You!!! 👍😎

After reading a section of Robert Greene’s, “Art of Seduction” I discovered her. This video was enjoyable to watch and even more curious.
A really interesting video. I didn't know much about her, but now I know a little more. Thank you.
I really appreciate the effort, correctness & brevity of your videos. Thank you. You're not French? I envy your annunciation! ✌️💙
