മറുനാടൻ പറയുന്നത് ശരിയല്ല. ഞാൻ ചങ്ങനാശേരി അതിരൂപതയിലെ വടക്കേക്കര പള്ളിയിൽ കൈക്കാരനായി സേവനം ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള ആളാണ്. ഒരു വർഷത്തേക്ക് രണ്ടു കൈക്കാരൻമാരെ പാരിഷ് കൗൺസിൽ ആണ് തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നത്. കാലാവധി കഴിയുന്നതിനു മുൻപ് അടുത്ത രണ്ടു പേരെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കും. ഈ കൈക്കാരൻമാർക്ക് അതിരൂപത അംഗീകാരം നൽകണം. പുതിയ കൈക്കാരൻമാർ ചാർജ്ജെടുക്കുമ്പോൾ പഴയ കൈക്കാരൻമാരിൽ നിന്നും താക്കോലും കണക്കുകളും രേഖകളും കാഷ്/ ബാങ്ക് അക്കൗണ്ട്/ ചെക്ക് ബുക്ക് എല്ലാം ഇടവക വികാരിയുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിലാണ് കൈമാറുന്നത്. ഇനി, പള്ളിയിലെ നേർച്ചപ്പെട്ടിയുടെ താക്കോലും കൈക്കാരൻറ്റെ കയ്യിലാണ്. ഞായറാഴ്ച പിരിവ് എടുക്കുന്നതും നേർച്ച പെട്ടികളിലെ പണം എടുക്കുന്നതും എല്ലാം ഈ രണ്ടു കൈക്കാരൻമാരും കൂടിയാണ്. ഈ തുക എണ്ണി തിട്ടപ്പെടുത്താൻ കൈക്കാരൻമാരെ കൂടാതെ ഇടവകാംഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും വേറെ ഒന്നുരണ്ടു പേരെ കൂടി വിളിക്കാറുണ്ട്. പണം എണ്ണി തിട്ടപ്പെടുത്തിയാൽ അത് പള്ളിയുടെ രസീതു ബുക്കിൽ ഇനം തിരിച്ച് എഴുതുകയും ഒരു കോപ്പി കണക്കനെ ഏല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും. നിതൃനിദാന ചെലവുകൾ നടത്തുന്നത് കൈക്കാരൻമാരാണ്. ബാങ്ക് അക്കൗണ്ട് കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നത് നടത്തുകൈക്കാരനും അച്ഛനും കൂടി ജോയിന്റ് ആയിട്ടാണ്. അച്ഛനും കപ്യാർക്കും കണക്കുനുമൊക്കെ ശമ്പളം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു പോലും കൈക്കാരനാണ്. മരാമത്തു പണികൾ നടത്തിയാലും വരവു ചെലവുകൾ നടത്തുന്നത് കൈക്കാരൻ മുഖാന്തിരമാണ്. കൂടാതെ എല്ലാ മാസവും പാരിഷ് കൗൺസിൽ കൂടുകയും തലേ മാസത്തെ വരവു ചെലവുകൾ ( പൊതുയോഗം തെരഞ്ഞടുക്കുന്ന രണ്ടു ഓഡിറ്റർമാർ ഓഡിറ്റ് ചെയ്ത കണക്ക് ) കണക്കൻ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. പാരിഷ് കൗൺസിലിന് കണക്കുകളിൽ സംശയ നിവാരണം വരുത്താനും പാസ്സാക്കാനോ, പാസ്സാക്കാതിരിക്കാനോ അധികാരമുണ്ട്. വികാരിയുടെ കയ്യിൽ ആരെങ്കിലും തുകകളോ, സാജൻ പറയുന്നതുപോലെ സഽർണ്ണമോ ഏല്പിച്ചാൽ അത് കൈക്കാരൻമാരെ ഏല്പിക്കുകയാണ് പതിവ്. ഞാൻ ഈ പറഞ്ഞ കാരൃങ്ങൾ എനിക്ക് ഉത്തമ ബോധൃമുള്ളതാണ്. ഇപ്പോഴും ഇങ്ങിനെ തന്നെയാണ് ഞങ്ങളുടെ പള്ളിയിൽ നടക്കുന്നത്. ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോഴും പാരിഷ് കമ്മിറ്റി അംഗമാണ്.

You are absolutely right. We need transparency in the church especially if money is involved, just like in any other institution. Why not? Rules are made for a reason. If the rules are not in place, eventually that institution will die off. So it is time for the church authorities to take action .

I do not speak for all churches.I was an office bearer for a church .we have systematic accounting system and strict auditing.There is not even a discrepancy of a penny in our accounts.But treasurer makes mistakes which are detected and corrected. You cannot generalize based on some isolated incidents.There are some bad apples everywhere
Yes, this is the plain truth....One more point: Those who generously donate to their Parish have no complaints. But, those who don't donate a single coin are complaining about the church... This happens in my church also...

Hello, today only l saw this, this issue came up in veroor church,,, it was checked very well by different committee,, it was an issue made by 2 people who were against the priest & his works, everyone knows,,, ( one person died already) St Joseph's church, veroor has made many houses(karunya project) we were(parishioners) money used, we are happy & proud of it, our priest we are proud of him too,,, you are simply taking any subject,, very sad,, so much charity plamparambil does , helping the poor, recently l met a poor family, came asking for help for her daughter's cancer treatment,, husband sick, only one son died, no house, she said, when plamparambil achen was there, he used to help,, , very much they were praising achen, you are hearing something, it is false, sure
It's very difficult to analyse the accounts as the church receives money and assets from different people. 1They don't give a pauka receipt 2 Sometimes they give receipt but duplicate 3 Entries in the stock register will have very few entries 4 stocks may not agree with registers/receipt book Sometimes there is an entry followed by another entry stating that it's fully utilised People may not insist on receipt There won't be any account in receving money/property/hundi collection etc. Easy to manipulate in this area .It will happen to any organization where the top-notch people collide with fraudulent people

You are wrong Shajan on one thing you mentioned here, church can make a proper account of Nercha/offering given into the designated box ( Nercha petty) by counting the same every weekend by a team of 4 ( different members every week) from Finance committee, men & women from all other committees as well. Avoid family members at any one counting. I do not know why our people are giving gold ornaments to the Church every year like now U have pointed out. They are under the wrong notion to go to heaven on this basis. I have my own doubts here. First up all I do not know whether such gold given yearly is hard earned by him or her by hard work. Again why should they give that much gold to a rich Church like Veroor Church, near Changanacherry when so many poor families are starving here. There are so many poor girls. They can give that gold to some poor girls waiting for marriage. Or to different poor families in rotation. We are in one way encouraging corruption. I know Veroor Church. My one relative is a member of that Parish. A rich Church as U said. If some Senior & well educated nuns like Sr. Lucy, Kalapura are promoted as Catholica Priests I think we can reduce corruption to certain level. You are absolutely right. We need transparency in the church especially if money is involved, just like in any other institution. Why not? Rules are made for a reason. If the rules are not in place, eventually that institution will die off. So it is time for the church authorities to take action .

There is external audit in my church. All transactions through bank account. The pan card of our major Arch bishop is used in KYC.

I do not speak for all churches.I was an office bearer for a church .we have systematic accounting system and strict auditing.There is not even a discrepancy of a penny in our accounts.But treasurer makes mistakes which are detected and corrected. People may not insist on receipt

You are wrong Shajan on one thing you mentioned here, church can make a proper account of Nercha/offering given into the designated box ( Nercha petty) by counting the same every weekend by a team of 4 ( different members every week) from Finance committee, men & women from all other committees as well. Avoid family members at any one counting.

I do not know why our people are giving gold ornaments to the Church every year like now U have pointed out. They are under the wrong notion to go to heaven on this basis. I have my own doubts here. First up all I do not know whether such gold given yearly is hard earned by him or her by hard work. Again why should they give that much gold to a rich Church like Veroor Church, near Changanacherry when so many poor families are starving here. There are so many poor girls. They can give that gold to some poor girls waiting for marriage. Or to different poor families in rotation. We are in one way encouraging corruption. I know Veroor Church. My one relative is a member of that Parish. A rich Church as U said. If some Senior & well educated nuns like Sr. Lucy, Kalapura are promoted as Catholica Priests I think we can reduce corruption to certain level.
