- Shipwrecked and far from home - Sailing SE Asia
Continued... We sailed our live aboard catamaran to Puteri harbour, Malaysia, to ensure good internet in order to watch our eldest son Finn, who gave up cruising in our sailboat, to continue time on the water but in a different boat, a rowing skiff. This year he qualified for the New Zealand rowing team. After winning a silver medal at the Under 23 world Championships he caught covid. Now six weeks later and competing once more, but this time in the Elite world championships, Finn is performing below par. After completing the quarter finals Finn experienced chest pain. Shipwrecked and far from home, e advised Finn to stop rowing.

BACK STORY
In 1997, after rowing at the Atlanta Olympics, Rob rowed a tiny 7m (22 foot) plywood boat 2,500 miles from Tenerife (Canary Islands) to Barbados (Caribbean). It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race.
Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of.
The plan? To sail around the world.
Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz

such a difficult situation. being a peak athlete & told to stand down. (& too young to know dth is real.)
not racing was the right call (but...im no peak athlete.) & racing was, too, likely in the ballpark of justifiable - tho, people are always pretty bold making decisions w other peoples' bodies.
like too much of medicine: you _could_ honestly argue either position. which is always the problem. but heart damage, or permanent lung scars (or dth) are long term outcomes. maybe im too cautious. but trust your body. i am riveted by this case 10:00 100%! id be so angry. yes, not examining the pt is not good. clearly. an athlete complaining of lethargy, chest pain & SoB immediately post covid (or the vaccine drug product) should - even today - be treated as serious until rule out & recovery period.
& likely precautionary no athletics for 6mths. again, maybe im too cautious. if it was someone i cared about . . .
thx for sharing this story. =)_JC
Thank you, Finn for listening to your parents, you don't need to ruin your health, just for the race, you are still young and there is another season. Awesome job Declan, You and Ivan did a good job. All 3 of you boys are so lucky to have your parents. Loved that ending, isn't it great when a surprise works like you want it to.
Thanks David, Finn has a habit of surprise visits.
I wonderful glimpse into the other side of competitive sport. When you see athletes winning medals It's easy to forget that they have complex lives behind the scenes. Good luck Finn as you go forward. Take the time to recover properly. You proved you have what it takes to win when you are well, so get well. Love the ending, surprising your grandmother. Beautiful ❤
Thank you. Finn has a big break now, long enough hopefully for things to settle down.
Your two are incredible parents! Common sense should always prevail. Good on you both! You two are a great example of what parents should be doing and a great support platform...
Thank you very much. We don't always get it right though 🙂
Wow, I am so glad that Finn made the right decision. He has youth on his side and can accomplish more in his future. It was great to see him take time to see his Gran. Peace and love to your family
Yes he's young but unfortunately this is the age group that seems to be getting heart problems from this virus. He gets a month off from training now, hopefully that's enough. Visiting his Granny will be very good for his heart.
Yeah, this issue with Finn has been hard to watch. You guys have put yourselves out there sharing your experiences with us, and I can say for myself, I feel like I have gotten to know you each a little bit, and I have a sincere interest in your well-being - (I hope that doesn't sound odd). I know how much the rowing means to Finn, but long term health is so much more important. I know these vids are likely a bit delayed from real time, so I can only hope that correct decisions were made and pray for the best going forward. I can only imagine how difficult that was dealing with it from a world away. Finn, you are so lucky to have folk who care so much for you.
It's always hard to know what to share and what to keep private. This took three edits before everyone was happy with what was being shared. It's real life not scripted.
Declan you did an awesome job at docking the boat! I know how nerve-racking that can be 1st hand, but you were so calm & in control! All 3 of you boys are very blessed to have parents that love you so much, and who are great role models! Love to all of you!❤
Thank you Tammy. He did indeed do a nice job parking. And with more practice better again.
Unfortunate Finn didn't get to race final heat, but most likely the right decision. Better safe than sorry. I understood both of your concerns and rightly so.Great surprise for Grandma Finn showing up how sweet was that. I'm sure we'll see Finn racing once again soon.
Looking forward to next video
Thanks Jonathan, I just wish he had pulled out at least one race sooner.
@TheCruisingKiwis I agree, and you let that be known in the previous video
Grandma's reaction to Finn put a big smile on my face !!!! Safe travels good health and best wishes to all from NY 👍
I loved the "bits of me are alright " line
Thanks Joe, Finn has a habit of surprising people.
Lol
Covid is greatly under estimated by so many. Myocarditis is more common with covid than post vaccine. Returning to exercise too soon after covid predisposes to long covid. Keep up the good work Mum & Dad
Thank you.
i had my first cardiac episode at the age of 41 coming off a 110 mile bike ride. ever since then i can tell when my heart is acting up. Five years ago i felt shitty and went to the hospital, two days later i was undergoing open heart surgery. Finn...listen to your father.
OMG, that sounds terrible. We have a friend going through something similar, fit and healthy and then the heart starts playing up. You're health is your wealth as they say. Affairs of the heart are not to be trifled with.
Got to add that was gorgeous how he surprised his grandmother ❤❤
The look on nans face was priceless. Keep well Finn.
Yeah it was very special.
Sorry to see Finn get stuck down but so lovely lovely to see you all being there for him. Always hard to know what to share, thanks for sharing. We are thinking of Finn and sending positive vibes his way. Your mum is so lovely Rachel!
Thank you, yeah Rachel's mother is super mother, grand mother, and mother in law.
I'm so impressed how these parents tried so hard to advise Finn about competing with possible heart issues, the love is so real and deep!!
Thank you, yeah it's difficult to parent from a distance but he was available to talk, which was massive.
What’s great is you have wonderful boys, who love and value you their family. Great to see the surprise at the end. Regardless of the other circumstances, this is what truly blessed looks like!
Thank you for the lovely message Randal.
You know, I really am a stranger in your life but I really feel for you going through your Sons pain. Sincere Thoughts and prayers to my Kiwi Friends.
Thank you for your support Donald
Finn has already achieved so much more at his young age, than most people achieve in their entire lifetime! He can be so proud of himself, having dedicated his past few years to so much hard training! Guess it's time for a recovery break. I wish him only the very best for his health and life!
Thank you!
That last bit was great eh.? Surprising his grandmother. Back to his chest pain issues. He's what 21/22.? Something needed to be done. I mean I had what they termed "heart event." But heck I was nearly 69. All my working life, I was physical. Farming, shearing , mustering, and just before I retired, I was handling 25-30kg helicopter boxes of live crayfish, in my late 60's. Then wham I got hit. But for a young bloke like Finn, at his age...? Isn't that the body's way of saying I need attention.? Sorry guys, if I've stepped over the line, but this has been bluddy hard to watch. Thank you as a family for sharing. Take care and atb from down here in Aotearoa.
All good thanks Bryan. It's such a shame he got into training too soon, I reckon. Sorry to hear about your plight but you have it snot while you could huh
Groovy video. Super grandma surprise.
Yeah, it lovely to see.
Good on ya Fin! good call to look out for yourself, takes a lot to stand up for what you need sometimes, hats off to ya! Good on ya crew, another great ep.⛵Best of luck with the recovery Fin
Hey team, thank you very much!
PS hope the studies are coming along well.
Wonderfull GrandMa, great unlucky Finn...He needs rest for some times and get back to normal soon!
Correct
Let me guess ...had the jab ..All the best Finn prayers comming your way..
Finn took a sabbatical from rowing during the mandates.
Glad that Finn has pulled out and is safe.
Thank you Lyn
nothing gives us more pleasure than when our grandkids visit, oh yeah and great grandkid(only1at mo😊)
🤭love you babe😂
Hehe can't wait to have grand children.
And congratulations on all yours!!
The was a good result for Finn in the end stick it to those dinosaurs reps and glad Finn is coming home and great to see he popped into Nans on his way home. And Decs is becoming a great docker and undocker of a yacht, but that Ivan needs to keep the boat straight.
Declan did a great job he needs to do that a few more times then he can teach me!
Great stuff guys! Well done Finn..
Thank you Trev
Finn - you showed much maturity at your age to decide your health is what is so important. Bravo for making the right choice and know you have many many people around the world praying for your full recovery. You still have the world at your feet, and you will make a comeback!
Thanks again Tammy, he did so right thing. Only wish he had made the call for the previous race. Or rather that management had done the right thing and stopped him racing rather than pushing him to race.
You’ve got a nice young man there! He’s learning what’s important in life!
Thank you Bill, he has a good level head on those shoulders.
A big get-well for Finn! Recovering from Covid is one thing but for such a high-intensity sport as rowing your body has to be fully recovered. Many athletes have struggled after a Covid infection and have had to take it easier for a while. Your health is the most important thing. Rowing will come second.
Thank you very much.
The ending was my most favorite. I'm so happy that Finn decided to do a surprise for his Gran. My eyes leaked with tears of joy 😍. 🩷🤠🩷
Yeah Finn seems to do surprises well.
🙏🙏 Hope Finn and everything ends up well!! Because yes, health its first above all!! Do take care, Finn!!
You prove everything already, so if you have to stop, no worries. You are a Champ already. ✌️
Well said, Rob, Rachel and Grandma! Yes, the coaches and company should be more proffesional and looking less for their on glory or interests.
😂❤ lovely sorprise at the end, well done Finn.
And last, but not least, congrats Declan for your first and good approaching maneuver (as well for Ivan, also hands on the steer wheel!).
Safe journey and winds!
Thank you very much. Agree health is number one. Declan did a nice job, next time without any assistance from me.
Wow, Finn is always surprising someone. Your Mom is so much like you! Hope Finn gets back into shape. Great job Declan on the docking manoeuvre.
Thank you!
You family are always relatives of mine...cheer up Finn...
Thank you Sissel
So, Finn is still in the habit of turning up unexpectedly and surprising family. Whoever was there with him sounded just like you Rachel! Goid decision to pull out if the race. I remember having covid and having no energy at all after. Like Finn said, feeling like you're not getting enough oxygen. Nice job docking the boat Declan. I reckon any berthing where you don't ram the dock or another boat 8s a good berthing!
The voice you heard driving Finn was my sister Hilary. She did pop up in a vlog a few years ago in Brisbane you might recall?
Ah Rachel your mum is beautiful (bits of me are all right lol) Hoping your all good Finn, like i already commented my nephew took 3 months to get over the fatigue of covid! but light headed and chest pains that's not good. all the best mate.
I have to admit I didn't give long covid much thought until now. My heart goes out to your nephew.
Another Hamill surprise visit! Well done. Good to see Finn in good spirits and health. Best regards.
We love our surprises
Good work there Decklan
Thanks 👍
I wish the best for Finn, and a speedy recovery! Thank you for the videos.
Thank you too!
Beautiful episode, Well done Declan, that was some nice parking! 🤣🤣 Surprising his grandma, I used to do that with mine when I was younger, oh what beautiful memories that brought back!😪😪😂😂
Nice that you're seeing the positives in this episode. Finn is good at surprise visits!
That reunion was so fun to watch, thank you for sharing.
Thanks Mark, we enjoyed watching it too.
Thank U, Finn, 4 listening 2 your parents. It doesn't seem as if your coaches had your best interests at heart. Have a rest and when you're better, back at it. Love 2 the whole family! Safe travels ❤
Thank you yes it does seem that way.
So many young people have been having heart issues since covid, they should definitely be taking it seriously. Reports have been released on the subject.
Indeed, this is why we were getting so worked up about it and couldn't understand why the officials weren't on the same page.
Yes, heart issues from the "jab" that has taken the lives of millions.
Always listen to your body! It always tell you something!
Indeed. Unfortunately when you are a member of a team it's harder to get them to listen.
wonderful you took time to see your grand mom
Thanks Keith, Finn is good at surprise visits.
Thankfully Robert you knew what Finn was going though and how he should be feeling. And you knew they were pushing Finn to hard. And what is amazing is your son listening to you. That shows how much trust he has in you.
Thank you Jerry. We often give each other plenty of advice on all manner of subjects. Whether we listen or not is sometimes debatable. 😉😊
Awwww so awesome when Finn surprised your mum in the UK 💓
Yeah we loved it too
Well done Captain Declan. And well done captain Ivan, looks like we have 2 up and coming new Captains in the fleet. Way to go guys. Loved that suprise from Finn.
Thank you David, the boys all doing good stuff
And Rachel - I'm filing away your Mum's one-liner... just brilliant!
Lol 😆
It seemed it mainly affected older or vulnerable people. Interesting to hear it can also hit younger people hard, which is not something that is widely known. Absolutely health is more important than a medal or "taking part". Difficult to say no when you are pushed by team coaches etc. Good manoeuvrability practice for Declan and Ivan in the marina :)
Everyone from birth to elderly have long covid.
Speaking from experience any illness at that level can have a debilitating effect. It would not have become an issue if he didn't have to race a few weeks later.
FINN LOOKS LIKE HIS DAD AND IS A HANDSOME KIWI !
Sad about what happened to Finn, but great to sèe him look so much better when surprising his grandmother. I surprised mine over 40 years ago when I visited the states from my home in Australia.
Yeah it was rather special. He's good at surprising people like that.
Glad you stopped Finn that was a great decision. You have a long life ahead of you. Don't let rowing end your life early. Please get a full work up from the proper medical people, away from the rowing team. Your team doctors should know better. What your dad says is right. Hugs.
Thanks Mark
I am sorry I have not been commenting for a bit but I have been having some health problems myself. I feel for Finn and your whole family at this difficult time for you. One of my friends in his early thirties caught Covid Kraken at Christmas and took 2 months to recover. He had to have loads of Bloodtest's and ECG's to rule out damage to his Heart which can occur in young people. I feel disgusted with the New Zealand team leaders. Do they not care for their elite athletes who give so much for their country. I wish him all the best for the future.
Declan well done for parking that boat. I have difficulty parking a car. It was lovely to see your Mum again Rachel she is quite a character and she looked so pleased to see Finn.
Keep well and safe. James.
Thank you James, all the best for your recovery!!!
I know it was hard for Finn to pull out of the race but his health has top priority and he needs to find out what is going on. He has plenty of time to win what he wants if he can so more power to him in making the right decision. I am sure it was disappointing for every one but he did right That was wonderful he could see his Grandmother! Take care and have a safe trip!
Thank you JC
Wonderful reunion with his grandmother
Thanks Joe, yeah was lovely to see
Such a shame Finn!!! but glad you are doing ok ❤️
So nice to see Gangan featuring in this week’s episode
Haha you're one of the few that know her name!
Finn listen to parents n go get checked out at the doc brother. You young got ur hole life to race again. Thanks guys for sharing yourls life
Thank you very much!
Well said Rob. Totally with you.
Finn be proud stand tall. You worked your hardest. Then you made the right choice looking after your health
Thanks Leoni, his health is definitely number one.
Your editing skills are phenomenal. Making me tear up as you left the slip.
Thanks Meenho, it would seem its contagious. 😆
Wow this one had me a bit choked up. What a family ❤
Thank you Cole
Great family moment
Oh God. Your mum looks just like you!!!!
Good onya for relaying your unhappiness with what the NZ Row team where obviously putting pressure on Finn. Better to rest now and the road is long and winding. Cheap petrol there Rob, do you pre filter the fuel before you tank it? Declan did a great job with the Catamaran, what a great surprise for your mother seeing Finn. Take care and be safe 👍🇳🇿🏊♀️⚡️🎣🩴💪🚣
Yeah, I use a Mr Fuel filter to remove water. Seems to work.
I watched this weeks ago but am only now going back and hitting “Like” and leaving a comment - but I can’t really add to what others already said. But I really admire how Rob gets fired-up angry when his son’s best interest may be imperiled.
Thanks Robin. It was difficult observing from afar while others are inept in dealing with our sons well being.
PRAYING FOR ALL OF YOU OUT OF MY LOVE FOR ALL OF YOU !
Thank you!
Rob, i got COVID back in 2018 (before it became popular). It is now 2023 and i still have chest pains as a result of cracked ribs (excessive coughing) sustained in 2018 as well as, what i call spikes, wherein i get a sharp pain across my chest from right to left. i even go to the gym 3-4 times a week but it is taking a long time to mend. Remember, i am 68, so Eric should be able to recover much more quickly but it could take 6 months depending on how severe he had it! Right with all of you, Jim
Wow thanks Jim, best wishes to you.
You go dad! ….and mum!
Thanks Mark
You are so so so, right Rob, a Father any Father or parent, but one who has been there done that, who knows what it takes to get as far as Finn has got, should step in. Sometimes these young sportsmen and women are run into the ground. It's shocking how they can be treated and for whose 'glory' at the end of the day. Sportspeople must recognise, 'you have a longer life to live after your sporting days are over'. We have done the same thing here in Australia.
So true thanks Gavin
Hey Rachel...your mom is looking pretty well after her surgery! Glad to see that her recovery has been going well. And how wonderful that Finn surprised her with a visit ♥️ Is he her oldest grandchild?
I've already told yas how I feel about all that bullsh1t from the rowing team leadership and medical team. Probably STILL moist and warm after all this time.
So very glad to see Declan stepping away from (all bout temporarily) his EMC duties and trying in the Second Officer's cap!
Rob, the call when the helmsman allows the ship to drift off the given course is "Mind your helm." Some young crewmembers needed the (cough-cough) "reminder" a lot during my time in service. And no, I had different duties..before anyone asks 😀👍
Tough, but honest, view this time around. Thanks for including all of us!
Thanks for the insight Chuck. Rachel's mother is a gemmie.
I agree with you totally. No one should push themselves at excessive pace at any sport following a severe cold or flu let alone covid. Knowing the risk of endocarditis following the vax and who knows how much covid effects our bodies, you all totally made the right decision, however hard that was for Finn. Sad but for the best. Elderly folks are precious and it is underestimated how much they miss and care for their grandies and their children. Yes well done Declan, I hate reversing a car let alone a broad beamed boat😅. I seriously thought fuel would have been way more exy. Thankyou for sharing your life, sad and happy moments
Thank you for the lovely comment Vicki. Lol backing a single scull might be easier.
I always tie of my helm in the midship position with a bungee and use only asymmetric thrust to manoeuvre when in tight quarters or below 5 knots.
Asymmetric thrust hmm can you define?
Wow Finn you made the right decision
You're bounce back when your 100 percent again.😊
Fantastic surprise for your grandmother 😊
Great parents produce great young men with amazing talents.
Congratulations Rob and Rachel for doing a fantastic job.
Thanks for sharing those special moments 😊
Be nice to have you all back together for Xmas together on your sailing adventures.
Safe sailing
Cheers from the Tron team 😊😊😊😊
Thanks Rob it was hard for him to pull out but definitely the right call.
We have put star link on our vessel , absolute game changer , phone calls and data absolutely amazing . And probably cheaper than running around finding local sims .
Thanks John, we are looking at that very possibility at the moment.
Aww lucky granny 😍💞
Thanks Sue
Lovely end to the episode but can't believe a NZ sporting organisation, so called elite!! would not have considered Myocarditis in Finn in his twenties post COVID. I thought in the last episode it could possibly have been Myocarditis.
Can't believe they did no ECG or blood test.
So their protocols are poor!! Such a shame, hoping and praying Finn recovers fully and can get to full training only when he is ready.
Take it easy Finn 💪
Rachel and Rob you are great parents 👍
Thank you Jonathan
I think after Finn has had Covid. He needs to pull out of the competition and take 12 months off and give his body a break and time to get his fitness back up. He maybe the eldest child but he needs his parents right now to there for him
Thank you Margaret. Difficult time for the little man.
My younger son got Covid early in 2020 when the strain was at its worst, and it has wrecked him for life. He was 12 at the time and a very healthy and active kid, but it ended up hitting him really hard. He developed pneumonia which has caused permanent damage to his lungs (and we suspect mild heart damage), but thankfully didn't need respirator. The shame of it is, when I caught it, i felt lethargic for a couple days and was over it, and don't seem to have any long term effects from it. It really is nothing to be messed around with. Take it seriously as it can have lasting effects.
I'm so sorry to hear about your sons plight. So very thankful he wasn't put on a respirator, which has since been shown to actually promote death, not survival. Best wishes to you all. ❤️
I had bad chest pains on 26th October knocked me down , but I had a heart attack a few days in hospital ,and I have new drugs i am ok . Your body tells you don't ignore the signs . Get well stay safe listen to your father
Crikey Chris!! Get well soon!!!
I will try to get well@@TheCruisingKiwis
I have had 3 Cardiac arrests and now a Heart attack,, but I am 79 .
Yeah stop and have IT checket I had heart attack in 2020 on Australia Day A week before covid hit it's not a joke take from me Finn your life is worth more then eny sport take care.
Thank you Martthew very true
30 years ago a cardiologist assessed me. He said chest pain in track sprints was nature telling me to slow down. He then said get back out there. The risk of myocarditis is too big to ignore.
Ha typical coach back then. And now it would seem.
I totally agree with your sports assessment!!! Great call to have Finn withdraw..as hard as it is. We still don't know the ramifications of this manufactured virus. Blessing sent to all!!!
It was unfortunate that he didn't have the support of the team officials. We didn't get into it here but it was Finn who withdrew himself from further competition. They allowed it but wouldn't go so far as to do it for him, which is really their job.
Manufactured? Cool, bet you think Long Covid or post viral syndrome isn't real? Bully.
YES, it's 🐂💩. The trainers only concern is staying (for themselves) on the team as a trainer💸 , & will grind whatever it takes.
👍🏼 to ALL competitors. Take care of yourself, you don't get a second chance.
Thanks Steve. Without our health we are severely compromised.
Definitely the right call to pull out of the competition, must've been a tough decision regardless.
Only now am I realising the tough environment athletes work under - never thought about the fact that unlike most of us who can just switch to a different employer if and when we're unhappy - athletes simply don't have the same option - which leaves them exposed to this happening.
I was gutted at the time watching his performance - and it was clear (even to me - who's a newbie to rowing) that something wasn't quite right.
That's so interesting to look at it with your eyes and perspective, thank you
Finn, the last part of this video""""""""" That is what all life is about; family and love. Now you will heal. God bless all of you and going 2 for 2 (lol) Decklin, (did i get it right this time) 😵💫🧐?
So so true
U made the right decision!
Much more value in surprising grandma than having her go to your funeral.
Sorry for being so gruesome, but athletes have been dropping all over the place due to this myocarditis shit.
Covid induced or fir OTHER reasons (which I won’t mention here😢)
The hero’s journey is not over yet for you Finn.
There will be other mountains to climb.
Trust me.
I’m a mother.
Absolutely right Stephanie.!
Very upsetting to see RNZ behaving the same way year after year. I had a similar situation when i was in the team and ultimately led to me quitting. We all have our story but this tugs on my heart strings because ive been there mate.
I wish i had a family member step in and give perspective to it all at the time as an advocate. Youre caught in a bubble and things that are far from normal are accepted practices
I'm sorry to hear that Axel. The sport has many folk who have similar variations on the theme. The thing that really gets me here is that it wasn't long ago everyone, including nz rowing, were running around with their hair on fire at the mention of covid but now it's OK to race a kid with chest pain post covid. I just don't get it.
@TheCruisingKiwis oh yea mate the lack of consistency to overreact during the COVID pandemonium but now that it's not in vouge to talk about it the whole protocol around dealing with it goes out the window. Finn lost a season due to unlawful mandates suggesting if he wasnt vaccinated he was risking public health but they'll happily send him out there to risk his health when he's showing he hasn't recovered from COVID yet. It's absolute madness and an embarrassment for what is suppose to be our top Olympic sport. We should expect and receive better than that
Even thoroughbred horses can't race if unwell.
True
having had fatigue before and finding out i had leukemia then i agree finn should get checked out and not harden up
Oh lordy I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you're doing OK.
yep ok at moment@@TheCruisingKiwis
Sorry to hear that. 😢 If he took the vax, it is very likely it is really miocarditis. Wishing you and Finn the best and hope for his full recovery.
Thank you for your honesty. I agree 100% with your opinion. Facts are facts. People were lied to and unfortunately fell for the narrative that is ultimately harmful to humanity.
I agree with you 1000%
Thank you
9:09 Again, Robert, the mic is ON THE OTHE END of the phone.
@@Maloy7800 through trial and error we’ve found people can hear us better, when on speaker phone, if the phone is held the wrong way up. It may be a Samsung thing.
Viruses attacks muscle. The heart is one. He doesn't want to strain his heart. His body is saying it can't do it.
Thanks Mary, very true
Damn tht fuel cheap, its $3.50 on Waiheke
Yeah crazy the discrepancy huh.
Shipwrecked, hmmm not really. I love you guys but do not like the click bait, I have been watching you guys for years but when I saw that title I really started to worry.
I can see where you are coming from EvlMagus.however, if you watched Sundays vlog you will have seen the wheels coming off Finn's European rowing campaign. This competition was a shipwreck for him and he was very far from home and in need of someone in his corner to advocate for him. I stand by the title.
@EvlMagus They've had a few click-baity titles but always ironic and sardonic, the usual Hamill strength. Best regards.
@@TheCruisingKiwis True, I saw it. I feel terrible that he had to leave but it is better to stay healthy.
This one is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I do wish you Kiwi's all the best though. Cheers.
Hi family, just buy taking one look at Finn, u can see straight away he is extremely fatigued, mentally traumatised and covid dosnt go away in just 3 weeks, it's a lung disease and YES heart attract is very possible. He needs complete rest, medication and recovery. The racing committee medical team, would not be qualified to make that call that he is medically fit. Finn needs to stand his ground and simply get another Drs diagnosis. I'm sorry ur all going through this B.S.. 🇳🇿🇦🇺💖
Thank you very much, it certainly seemed like bs at the time.
Dad, mom...email the committee which oversees the event so documentation exists. Include "malpractice" and "lawsuit". Request a reply after they have reached out to Finn, the coaches and medical personnel.🤔
Thanks for the suggestion Edward. Much as it is a legitimate action to take its not on the menu at this stage. Finn still has to row with the team and its well documented already.
@@TheCruisingKiwis Thank you for the reply. Cover all aspects and people needing to know. As a parent I understand the concern you two have for Finn. Best wishes to your family and enlightenment to those needing such for everyone's benefit. -Ed
My apologies.... Finn, not Eric.... hey it is 6AM and and and Lol...
🙂
FFS Rowing NZ is as bad as Cycling NZ when it comes to athlete welfare, yet once again here we are. The nature of an Elite athlete is to always compete and do the best and you sure don't go out just for the sake of it to get a crap result. The is plenty of data about post covid and effects on the heart for high performance athletes. Remco Evenepoel didn't ride for 4 weeks when he caught covid during the Giro. But if you want to push away talent RNZ just keep going the way you are. Not good enough. Great support R&R.
Thank you for your comment.
You tell him dad. Our babies are our everything.. i dont know if he got the vax or not. But i swear that is wear the problems happen when your a young ,fit and healthy child... ask them if they will sign something saying that if anything happened they would take responsibility for it, if they wanted race that bad.
I feel so bad. Hes trained so hard.. awe man what a shame. Thats heartbreaking
Thanks Leanne, it's been a difficult time for him and hoping it all comes good. He took an 18 month sabbatical from rowing during the mandates.
