Hoya is a flower of the family Apocynaceae. This plant is also known by other names such as star orchid, cherry orchid, lover's heart, badminton orchid... It is undeniable that orchids are one of the most diverse flower lines in the world. And so are Hoya orchids, they have hundreds of different types. Each type has its own beauty, shape and color. The most popular is the white Hoya orchid.
Hoya is a flexible, perennial vine with an average height of 4-7m. The plant has a soft stem, with roots on the nodes. Leaves are opposite, oval with slightly tapered tips. Currently, there is a very popular type of Hoya with heart-shaped leaves.
Hoya has flowers growing in the axils of leaves, so it is very wrong, the flowers are spherical, so it is called a globe. There are white types, light red pistils, canopy-shaped corolla, arranged like cherry blossoms, fragrant, so called cherry orchids.
Hoya flower blooms in the form of a cluster, a beautiful 5-pointed star-shaped flower with many colors of red, pink, white ..., outstanding pistils of different colors. From a single flower, flowers bloom many times, from a few flowers to hundreds of flowers. Hoya has a pleasant fragrance, flowers last for a long time, reaching an average of 7-10 days.

Without a node they will always stay just leaves with roots. If you take a cutting make sure there's a node or you plant will never grow,it will stay like that forever
Nope Hoyas and some other like succulwnts can grow an entire plant from just a leaf

As folhas não vão produzir brotação, só enraizamento. Para produzir brotos tem que haver as gemas germinativas que estão do encontro da folha com o ramo. Cultivo Hoyas a muitos anos.

This video was suggested to me by RUclips. I'm not a botanical expert, but maybe you should mention in the video that this process will not generate new plants. Just to avoid people damage their plants ... The leaves can established a great root system, but they will remain leaves (for example a lot of Hoya Kerrii with one single leaf in the pot will never grow, because there is no node there!). And just because somebody call them orchid (I've never heard it before) it doesn't mean that they really is. There are both epiphytes plants but that's all
I agree. The leave is rooting, but does not grow the other leave. I have done that sine 2 years, but still one leave.

I love Hoyas and you definitely can grow roots on leaves but it will not grow a vine if you do not have enough stems. Even if you have some it will take a really long time to regrow a vine.

Fiz isso a mais de um ano, realmente as raizes aparecem rapidamente mas fica só nisso não vai pra frente fiz várias folhas maus nenhuma virou planta estão lá verdinhas mas nada de folha ou broto Novo, agora se vc pegar aquele galhinho onde tem aquelas pontinhas e colocar na terra aí sim nasce uma nova planta e

Si es verdad puse unas hojitas hace cerca de un año y estas enraizaron perfectamente pero quedaron ahí nomas no hechan guias x lo tanto no se forma ninguna planta de esas hojas,triste pero verdad se necesitan esquejes de unos 10 cm aproximadamente para que se forme una planta

Вырастить хойю из листа, кроме сорта Керри, невозможно. У некоторых получается, но это должно быть природное растение, взятое из среды. В домашних условиях должен быть лист с кусочком плети - пяточной, который содержит гормон роста.
Чтобы зацвести хойю, требуется хорошее освещение, также подходящий грунт, удобрение. Помогает теплый продолжительный душ или замачивание в теплой воде на 40 минут.

Great video, but Hoyas are not in the orchid family. The leaves rooted nicely but did they send up vegetative growth?
I know there are places that call them orchids. the leaves can grow into sprouts but the percentage of it is really not high
No the rooted leafs are not viable, they need a node for growth.
@@5T1Ideas The leafs may have sprouted roots but they will not grow any limbs as they need 2-3 nodes, 1/2 inch below the first node and 1/2 inch above 2nd node with at least 1 leaf to photosynthesize.
Best place to take your cuttings from is the off cluster at an other node, or take off the newer nodes minimum of 1/2 inch that has at least one leaf and place in water, making sure the lower node is submerged in water.
Sorry but you damaged your plant, however the trim will promote more growth and help it flourish.
Most hoya are harty plants and can thrive on neglect, be sure not to move it so much as they need to climatise for 6 to 8 weeks before growing again.

Don't you will damage your plant, this way is not viable.
Your plant has nodes which are small notches that sprouts out leafs, cut 1/2 an inch below a set of 2-3 nodes with at least 1 leaf, then place in water near sunlight with the lower node submerged.
check the water ever few days and either top up or replace, it will take time for your clipping to root but it will happen. Just be patient and make sure to pot you clipping once the roots get long and there is plenty of them.
Placing a cutting in pot of dirt or seed raising mix and in a glass container with a sprits of water every so often will also work as some like it more hot.
Another way is placing the cutting on a bed of damp moss, in a glass container (covered with cling wrap) and placed in a sunny place will also work. (I suggest sphagnum Moss: it's extra absorbent and promotes growth but I have no done this one myself yet, I've only heard good things)

Oi Cida.a minha ficou anos sem florescer.dps q comecei a regar ela c água de casca de bananas.ja floresceu duas vezes este ano.e deu muitas .vc pega umas 5 cascas de bananas coloca um litro de água., e põe p ferver,deixa esfriar, coloca mais um copo de água, e regue ela,as minhas estão lindas!!boa sorte p vc.

Я тоже читала, что появление корней не говорит о том, что у растения есть будущее без живой почки. У меня листок хойи уже больше полгода, как дал корни, но рост не сдвинулся ни на миллиметр. Каким посадила, таким и сидит, только теперь с корнями.
У меня та же история,дальше корней дело не пошло.

And also a curly leaf hoya. Both have bloomed, but it took years !
Just don't follow the methods of propagation they share it's a waste of time. Why? Because it will not grow unless it has a node .
@@iamrenantepuyo maybe it depends on variety ? One leaf, I accidently pulled off while watering, rooted after I just placed it in the same pot, it got pulled from. No nodes no nothing. After close to year it grew into a "branch" of 6 leaves. So, who knows? 🙂
@@incanada83 you maybe might not notice it, that it has a node. Hoya are not the same with begonia,peperomia that can be propagated by leaves without any nodes in it.

All hoya leaves can root but it doesnt mean propagation, propagation means to got stem if there is no stem there would be only one leaf stays for years this is not an effective method to propagate hoyas sorry

The leaves can grow roots but the vine or new leaves will never grow. So, there is no point if a new plant will grow from the leave planted. I have tried this my self and it did not work.
To make a seedling from a leaf you have to create a sufficiently moist field, avoid direct sunlight, and wait for them to grow for 4 months.

Mi mamá hacía montones de estas plantas a partir de hojas cuando yo era chica. En casa estaban por todos lados. Es cuestión de paciencia y encontrarle la mano. A mí tampoco me salió las veces que intenté pero evidentemente no es el método soy yo que no tengo tan buena mano de jardinera ;)

잎꽂이 뿌리는 잘 내리는데 생장점이 없어서 새순은 거의 안나오더라구요.
저는 실패
저도 잎꽂이하여 뿌리는 내려 죽지않고 2년을 새로운 줄기없이 살고있어요

Usamos arena de construcción para enraizar las hojas. Debido a que la arena está construida, no retiene agua, pero aún retiene la humedad para ayudar a que las hojas echen raíces.

Eu também conheço como flor de cera.tive uma já a alguns anos. Cresceu tanto que virou um carramanchao.
Я бы не назвала это потрясающим результатом, либо необходимо уточнение- потрясающий результат укоренения!! Потому как процент того что пойдут новые росты очень мал!!! Либо ждать придётся ни один год!!! Куда проще срезать черенок и через год получить уже вовсю растущую и даже возможно и цветущую лиана!!!

У этого цветка есть место, которое называется восковым цветком.
Вы правы , я посадила листики, у них очень много корней, но почти 8 месяцев побегов нет .
