When you said oranges in a stocking it brought back memories of my great grandparents. And orange, a few walnuts , hardtack candy and a popcorn ball. And maybe a piece of chocolate.
well, I have to back track my last comment, I waited two days, in the jars it looked like water, I was going to reheat and put in more pectin, but when I opened the jar the contents inside were just amazing, firm and like jelly is suppose to be, what was fooling me was they way it would roll around in the jar pulling away from the sides like it was liquid, but I have to say very happy with my Mandarin orange jelly.
We have two very large Satsuma (a.k.a. Mandarin orange) trees and didn’t know what to do with them all. Found this video at the end of the season last year…made it…LOVED it! Just finished making my first batch for the season this year. Thank you for posting!😁
Yum ... my mouth is watering just looking at those jars. Can I get on your holiday gift list pretty please lol. And yeah, I remember oranges in the stocking, always in the toe lol. Believe that goes back to when oranges were a real luxury item, especially here in the UK where they didn't grow without a special hot house. Those and roasting chestnuts on an open fire ... sweet memories of christmases long past. Oh, and making toast with a toasting fork. Hell, i'm showing my age now lol.
My mother told me about the days where people only got oranges in hospital. And how she craved for vegetables. She would be so happy when the plants were harvested, that she would dance.
I remember that too. We also got toothbrushes Lol. When I was 12 we moved to the West Coast and I remember the fire department 🚒 rolling down the street with Santa in red bermuda shorts throwing orange's 🍊 off the truck to all the kids in the neighborhood. Ahh, such wonderful memories. Blessings to you all 🙏 Stay safe n healthy out there.
I have frozen cranberries in my freezer and a lot of oranges, now that's an idea and ill let you know how that turns out as well as orange and pineapple …...wow I bet that would be good too xx
It’s so beautiful and as you were describing using it to braise pork, I was like “Oh My, it’s Heaven in a Jar!” And then you said it, so JINX 😉 I don’t need an excuse to can, but I’m going to feed some duck poop around my citrus trees, ready for Winter fruit 🍊 Thanks Leisa.... oh they are so gorgeous (as you pull them from the canner)
Hi what a delicious Canuary video. Making jelly is one of my favorite things to make. Thank you for being part of Canuary! Love Suttons Daze, Leisa & ForJars
My daughters and I made this today :) It looked so pretty. We did not find any mandarin oranges so we used regular oranges and I peeled off almost all the white pith but ours still turned out a bit bitter. Bummed us out but we trudged ahead and got the lemons ready and they are currently in the cheese cloth strainer till morning then we will attempt the lemon drop jam/jelly . We have faith it will not be bitter... When peeling the outside we got absolutely no white on the peel and the inside i scrapped the lemon wedges even to help get even more pith off.
I just made this today. From one bag of the oranges I got 7 half pints. I did taste it and it was a bit sweet for me so I added one teaspoon of canning salt and it tasted wonderful. Thank you for the recipe it is yummy!! 🧡💛💚💙💜
Oh my I cannot keep enough jars of mandarin orange jam on the shelves. We love it. In CA we have a great season of mandarin oranges called 'Cuties'. I buy organic cuties mandarins. They are seedless! What a plus. I thin quarter slice them whole and make marmalade without any pectin added. So easy. Best marmalade I've ever eaten. Oh, we go through at least two pint jars a month.
Oh Leisa, that looks so pretty in the jar. You're turning me into a "jammer!!" This will be my 3rd recipe I've made from your videos, including my Festival Pepper Jam and Pineapple Jalapeno Jam......LOVING IT and Thank you!!!! BTW I only started canning in April, and it's so addictive. My canners are my best NEW friends??!!!
I love your videos. I need to search them because I just got a ton of blueberries. I hope you have some so I can figure out what to do with them! My work will be getting more soon, so I'll have even more!
Now that is beautiful....I wish I had thought to do that when I had too many on hand. I will do that up front the next time I get some. Thank you so very much for sharing this recipe. Have a Blessed day.
I stumbled across this video a couple months ago and this morning I used up the last of my mandarin oranges and let me say this is better than anything store bought!!! Thank you!!!
We are making 2 big batches of this right now😊 1st one is done. It's so delish😋 It has become my husband's fave❤ Thank you Leisa for all you do & share❤
Leisa a great favorite to make. That is ideal because everyone loves jam and this mandarin orange beats everything, like you said, on pork chops or loin. You did a fantastic job. ..
So colourful and one to try, I have brought 2x tubs of Ball pectin (in UK), I haven’t used this kind before. So a little apprehensive. I do make jams, curds, chutney and pickles and relish too. Just got to pluck up the courage and go for it. Thanks for sharing 👍😎
Love your videos and love this recipe however do you have the actual recipe listed somewhere. I watch your videos however when I am ready to make whatever, I have to rewatch the video. Maybe I am missing something. Most canning or cooking channels I watch have the recipe listed in the description. Thanks!
Stephanie Corporandy thank you Stephanie. I did end up rewatching the video to get it. And btw I don’t know if you’ve made it but it is delicious 😋. I’ve basted it on chicken several times and OMG!
The pith of the lemon is a multi vitamin. In the early 1800s, sailor's tried to starve off scurvy with a teaspoon of lemon juice. Yet it didn't work as well as they imagined. If only they ate the whole quarter of the lemon, skin and all.
Leisa, yay! You told me how to use it. Thank you. I'm originally from up north. I have always been taught to be prepared ... especially with winter coming on. Here we have to do that too...but differently... Here it's the heat and I know you understand humidity... didn't mean to ramble..just Thanks for including basic ideas on how to use this. I love citrus flavors. Basic = yummy.
I am Beverly and I just want you to know that I absolutely love following you. I am making your orange jelly as we speak!! Thank you!! I wish I could cook along beside you! I am new to jelly making but I love it!!
O my that looks so good thanks to you and your friend kneady homesteader I am going to be doing this what jam recipe do you have am going to have a lot of blue berries got a lot of flowers
You are a baaaad influence Leisa! My husband went on a week long trip and I made two batches of this it was so pretty. And we are Keto! My excuse? It's a good way to store vitamin C in my pepper pantry (and I saved so much money making orange zest out of the peals...) 🤣
Looks delicious and I will definitely be trying this one. I also make a DIY cleaner using orange peel and another with lemon peels. Do you know of any reason why the peels from the clementine wouldn't work with the DIY cleaner? Thanks :) Note: This is my first full season of canning. I made 2 jars of your carmel apple pie jar--loved it! Thanks so much for your canning vids they've helped so much--especially since we lost grandma and she was my go to canning questions. Grandma's just know so so much.
I wonder if this can be strained at some point so there will be clear jelly without any "chunks" floating in (clear like the Lemon jelly)? Does anyone know? Thank you
Hi, Mrs. Katie sent me over 😁 That mandarin jelly looks so yummy, where’s my biscuit. 😋 Girl, what is that dipper with the thing to hold it on the side of your pan, I need one of those!! 😜 Enjoyed your video, going to watch more of you! Stay safe and well! 🌸🌺🌸
When you said oranges in a stocking it brought back memories of my great grandparents. And orange, a few walnuts , hardtack candy and a popcorn ball. And maybe a piece of chocolate.
That's what they gave us at Christmas at Church in the 1960's
Back then getting oranges was a big deal. Only pineapple you saw was in a can. Oranges came from Florida special order. Not like now.
No live chat, oh well, nice to see something yummy to add to the list. Thanks as always.
Wasn't a live video :-) I hope you enjoy it :-)
Thanks. Love mandarin oranges. 🤗 I am 70 yrs. Young and I remember getting apples and oranges in my stocking. It was such a treat!🤗
Jars of sunshine ! Yum ! Gotta try it.
Gorgeous!! Wish Mandarin oranges were still in season & on sale around here. This is going on my "to can" list.
well, I have to back track my last comment, I waited two days, in the jars it looked like water, I was going to reheat and put in more pectin, but when I opened the jar the contents inside were just amazing, firm and like jelly is suppose to be, what was fooling me was they way it would roll around in the jar pulling away from the sides like it was liquid, but I have to say very happy with my Mandarin orange jelly.
I canned mandarin oranges and dried the skins and ground into powder.
Going to try this for sure and yes we got oranges in our stockings. It was a very special treat. We are not old, we just have more diverse memories. 😉
Dont forget the ribbon candy too. Those were good
We have two very large Satsuma (a.k.a. Mandarin orange) trees and didn’t know what to do with them all. Found this video at the end of the season last year…made it…LOVED it! Just finished making my first batch for the season this year. Thank you for posting!😁
Wonderful!
These sure are pretty. You know, as long as I've been canning, I think I put my rings on too tight. Thank you for sharing, Leisa. 💗💗💗

I’m going to try this. Looks heavenly
Can other citrus be used in place of Mandarins such as tangerines, oranges, or Ruby red grapefruits?
I love watching you jam up your kitchen!! I cant wait to try this. I can use on my orange chicken sauce too!! Yummy ty🍊
Leisa a great favorite to make. That is ideal because everyone loves jam and this mandarin orange beats everything, like you said, on pork chops or loin. You did a fantastic job. ..
Looks yummy!!!!
When it's in ba jam and a jelly, some commercial producers refer to it as a fruit spread.
I put up some yesterday in a simple syrup..lol I didn't think at the time to do jams or jelly.. BLESSINGS
Wow!
I love your video.
I subscribed. Thanks

Thanks!
I didn't see one either. But
Its
1/2c lemon juice
4 cups mandarin orange pulp
1 pkg pectin or 6T
4 1/2 cup sugar
Stephanie Corporandy thank you Stephanie. I did end up rewatching the video to get it. And btw I don’t know if you’ve made it but it is delicious 😋. I’ve basted it on chicken several times and OMG!
Have you posted the recipe for this lovely jelly? Is it available on your etsy site? This one and the lemon jelly look wonderful.
The pith of the lemon is a multi vitamin. In the early 1800s, sailor's tried to starve off scurvy with a teaspoon of lemon juice. Yet it didn't work as well as they imagined. If only they ate the whole quarter of the lemon, skin and all.
Bioflavonoid is in the pith of citrus fruit.
this is beautiful going to make this thanks
My kids and all my nieces and nephews get oranges in their stockings. 😉
I made this on February 19. It is fabulous. Thank you, Leisa
I saved the peels after I dried them in the oven.
You are so welcome!
I'm so going to be making this! I cant wait!
Leisa, yay! You told me how to use it. Thank you. I'm originally from up north. I have always been taught to be prepared ... especially with winter coming on. The first time I used my Orchard Road lids I thought a gun went off when the jars started sealing. I bet I jumped 3 feet high!!
This looks so yummy! I’m going to give it a try! Thank you!❤
OMG this is so much easier than orange marmalade. Going to the store tomorrow!!!
I got 1 orange and 1 apple and some nuts still in their shell in my stoking.
I am Beverly and I just want you to know that I absolutely love following you. I am making your orange jelly as we speak!! Thank you!! I wish I could cook along beside you! I am new to jelly making but I love it!!
❤Thank you thank you❤
Nice job I love you Video.

Going to try this. Great video!
Now I need to find oranges on sale!
Yummmy.
You are a baaaad influence Leisa! My husband went on a week long trip and I made two batches of this it was so pretty. And we are Keto! My excuse? It's a good way to store vitamin C in my pepper pantry (and I saved so much money making orange zest out of the peals...) 🤣
Its all my fault hahaha. And it makes great gifts too
Do an orange and onion soup mix baked chicken dish, but with orange and not apricot nectar.
Looks delicious and I will definitely be trying this one. I also make a DIY cleaner using orange peel and another with lemon peels. Do you know of any reason why the peels from the clementine wouldn't work with the DIY cleaner? Thanks :)

That mandarin jelly looks so yummy,
where’s my biscuit. 😋
Girl, what is that dipper with the thing to hold it on the side of your pan, I need one of those!! 😜
Enjoyed your video, going to watch more of you!
Stay safe and well! 🌸🌺🌸
Thanks for coming. That ladle is a life saver. amzn.to/3fTnfYJ
Suttons Daze Thank you much for the link, I’m excited to get one of those ladles! 😁
At what point could I add jalepenos? And would I have to adjust the other ingredients?
I love marmalade. Do you think some of the peel could be added in this recipie?
I peeled some oranges for extracting the peels. Can I make this using the peeled orange slices??
Hey Leisa, I was wondering if you could use this recipe, but strain out the chunks to make it more of a traditional jelly?
Absolutely
@@SuttonsDaze Tasty looking . Thank you. At what stage this can be strained? I just ask that question before :-)
Possible sugar substitute?
Oh, yum....jam #31 for my farmer's market booth.
Can it be water bath canned?
It was water bathed
Oops...sorry..thought you were using a pressure canner. I was driving and listening at same time.
Question. Can I make this with Sure Jell for less sugar recipes?
