- I had a dream. If I succeed to cycle six continents, I must go back South Korea by land. Sadly, the situation was still bad. I decided to give up my old dream to go back home. But at least I wanted to try one little thing. In China, I will cycle from Amrok River to Duman River. It is located between China and North Korea border.
I could get only 30 days Chinese Tourist Visa in Hong Kong, so I flew to Dalian international airport. But there was no ATM when I needed to call the taxi. So I just installed my bicycle without special tool.

You are such an inspiration, Jin. Even at 2 a.m., you have a smile on your face and can still find joy riding your bicycle. I loved the section of you assembling your bike in the airport. I've done it many times, and I've often wished someone would give me a bottle of water! It's hot work! Wow, The Chinese infrastructure/roadways looks like it has come a long way!
Were he alive, An Jeun geun may have been depressed about the divided Koreas and the war that raged in the 50's but I think he would have been impressed, maybe even a little proud about how South Korea has developed into such a modern, safe country and an economic world powerhouse and still proudly maintains it's beautiful mountainous landscape (I visited & cycled the x-country path). That 30 day visa thing is such a problem for bike tourers - China is so huge it’s hard to cross it in that time. It used to be so much easier.
Hope you are already somewhere in the south currently as winter is coming soon.
It would be convenient for you to have WeChat and Alibaba payments in China, as almost all payments are made electronically and rarely in RMB
