I am half Navajo. What I would have given to have grown up on a Rez, and learned the real way of life, the language and the entire culture that is genetically mine. I feel so ashamed not knowing much about it. It's so hard at 34 to learn the language..wish mom had told me when I was younger. This is absolutely divine.

That's amazing. You can feel the power in their dance and the music. Anyone who sees this and isn't spirituality lifted is made of stone.

This is all the ancestors could really ask for, for the young ones to keep the culture alive. And preserve the spirit of the great nation.

I just figured 'hoop dance' would be another kind of dance when I clicked the link. I was watching bear dances and stuff and saw this in the 'suggestions' bar on the right, so I just kinda expected this to be guys dancing in a circle or something. Hehe
These guys are absolutely amazing! :)

never of same tribe, many similarities and related through culture and language however an apache speaking apachean and a Navajo speaking Navajo would have a very difficult time carrying a conversation.

OK, now I have to admit I am impressed with that. When the Olympics roll around in August, you will see rhythmic gymnasts doing some of the same single-hoop moves. I can't help but wonder if this traditional Navajo dance might has inspired some moves, or if they were arrived at independently.
Of course, using so many hoops takes it to a whole different level.

    @ SailorBarsoom:
Do not judge about things you have not done, or gone through yourselve yet.
You would not be happy, if I would go such ignorant against your culture
    or live. Don't Quarrel....RESPECT.

@chaipasquoi How true your word s. Six million Jews were killed by Nazis, but how many tribal peoples died in this country due to European invasion thru the years? You mention uranium exploitation, just one terrible way to die slowly. The Native miners took radio-active uranium dust home on their work-clothes and exposed their families also. Is'nt the rez system a form of concentration camp without walls? My aunts and uncles were not proud of their Lakota blood, more's the pity.
