Thank You guys so much. In my 50s and until tonight had never flown RC. Flew control line some when I was a kid. You all's videos convinced me I could handle the 1.2 SUS as a trainer. Had it set up and ready to fly for a week or so just building the nerve to fly it. AS3X, SAFE, and ya'lls "Everybody Crashes Part 1" video was all it took. She flies like a dream. Endlessly ran the bases at the local T-ball field in as high alpha as SAFE would let me. Practiced a few touch and goes and a bunch of take offs and landings. Only mishaps were nose overs in the grass when I'd run out of infield and one cartwheel from not looking ahead enough during a failed go around. Still flies great...barely a scratch. Thank you E-Flite/Horizon/BrianPhillipsRC!!!
THIS SUS is a DREAM to FLY!!! Highly recommend by a newbie like myself. I have 20 flights w/out crash and now enter the "safe-off" mode where I am doing loops, flips, upside down flight, spins, and a quick flip of a switch back to safe and this plane near-instantly levels itself. So MUCH FUN!
I applied some reward points from HH and brought my SUS home for just under $150. LEDs would be AWESOME on this one! Great flying and filming. Team work makes the dream work. 👍
I'm a newbie and crashed mine in 16 seconds. I destroyed the fuselage and prop. Not too expensive to repair. Seems like a solid plane in capable hands.
16 seconds is REALLY GOOD for a beginner ;) Keep at it. There are WAY easier planes for beginners, fyi, and we are here to help, if you want it - www.brianphillipsrc.com/beginnerplanes
5:00am!! Brian Phillips on RUclips!! 😆 🤣!! 👋 got to love the RC world.... Thanks for all you and "Camera crew" do for this Hobby! Your vids are always on!!
Thank you Brian for explaining the electronics. It is very overwhelming for me when you get into the receiver - transmitter ect. but you explain things great! I'm getting a little more brave about starting this hobby. Nd Kudos to Camera Crew!!! Alex
Another Awesome video ! Thanks Brian and Megan . One of my first Rc planes was a big ugly stick this plane reminds me of it. I love how this plane flew for you Brian. Yeah I'm surly gona have to get me one now ! By the way I went back and watched your video on the Opterra 2m Wing and bought it from your link Brian. Thanks for all you do for us and the hobby, truly you and Megan are THE NUMBER ONE BEST !!!!!
Brian, you and camera crew have been doing the best work out there. Well I need something to figure out you’re the channel I go to. Thanks you guys very very much. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I decided to pull the trigger on a habu bnf, cirrus bnf and 4 batteries a few minutes ago. Got all the way to the screen where i had to get my credit card out and realized that i wasn't buying through Brian's links. Nope. Starting over now so my favorite RC reviewer can get some cred
Thanks to Eflite for bringing this out. It looks like a fun flyer. The ailerons are a great addition. I have a GWS Slow Stick and a UMX Ember that I have always enjoyed flying. I am looking forward to getting one of these.
My first plane was a GWS Slow Stik. I'm sad to see that those aren't made anymore. After I flew it for a while, I replaced the wing with a Stevens Aeromodel Soar Stik wing, which gave me ailerons and a longer wingspan. That was a lot of fun, but those aren't made anymore either! Millennium RC makes something similar, but more aerobatic, so it loses a little bit of the relaxed flier aspect. I'm glad to see E-Flite has come out with something very similar to the old Slow Stik.
Brian. A second Great video on this bird would be to install that second servo, and demonstrate the Flaperon settings on the transmitter. Put Timber wheels on it and make it Kick A$$ little Bush Plane. If and when I get this one, that’s what I’m going to do with it. No flying field necessary. A fun, inexpensive, dirt lot landing bush plane.
Very cool, not much on looks but it flys great 👍🏻 Nice flying Brian. The trampoline challenge was fun to watch 😁 I'd love to see a second thoughts trampoline challenge vid hehe!!!
Hey Brian, I am not well versed yet in matching a prop to a motor. You mentioned you would like to try a slow prop on this plane. What prop size would you try. Thanks for the videos and help with everything.
This is going to become a top seller. Get a second wing, chop it and use that wing for High Wind days. Also has a Flaperon option. Way more versatile than the AeroScout.
I have a couple of old Slow Sticks and I get 15 minutes on 1300 mAh and once did 35 minutes on 2600 mAh. Wonder why flight time is so short with the Ultra,
Not sure, but I guess it's probably a flying style thing. Hard to compare without some side by side flights. I could stretch out the flight quite a bit if I didn't mind less aerobatics.
What's up Brian!! I just received mine yesterday. Have not flown it yet cause it been windy and rainy here in Ft. Lauderdale. my question is have you setup any expo for it? The manual just calls for rates with no expo. I was wondering what your thoughts were on that.
Are there advantages between Gen 1 and 2 Batteries. I know one has an additional pigtail but both have the same connector and the Gen 2 is about $10 more, is that the only real difference? Any help would be appreciated, setting up my first plane elects...
I have wondered, how the auto discharge works on Spektrum smart batteries? Does it ionize the air, generate a magnetic field or heat? Where the electrons go?
I suspect the embedded microcontroller generates heat by dumping current slowly through one or more resistors on the small circuit board inside each smart battery. Some posts on rcgroups indicate that the auto discharge rate is quite low, likely due to having relatively little ability to transfer heat away from the battery (no fan or heatsink like in a charger).
@@toolbaggers Many chargers can only discharge at 5 to 10 watts, but that will still be *far* faster than the auto discharge of the smart batteries. And that is because chargers have fans and/or heat sinks for their resistor arrays or mosfets (acting as variable resistors). Clearly this implies a different load. The small sealed volume for the pcb in the smart batteries imposes a very limited thermal transfer capacity and likewise a slow discharge. There might be a thin metal plate to help spread the heat, but it is still inside the outer heat-shrink sleeve. An incandescent bulb does indeed have a heat sink, but it's not the primary thermal transfer route. They have argon gas inside the bulb and transfer a portion of the filament's heat through convection and conduction. I saw figures of 10% to 12%, and this heats the glass and surrounding air. The rest of the waste heat is radiant, but that doesn't apply in our case where the temperatures are much lower.
Brain thanks for the intro on the New Slow Ultra Stick ! It's my third plane the Carbon cub being my first ! My question is your feelings on the 1300 Ma battery Vs the 2200 3 cell ! I have both ! Thanks in advance and BTW Camera is doing a fantastic job :)
Thanks for another comprehensive review, Brian. I've got to get one of these. They look so versatile and good fun. Have you got an affiliate link for your UK viewers? You deserve the commission.
