Easy free crochet shawl pattern - Oak of life shawl. Full crochet video tutorial, lace crochet shawl

- Free crochet shawl pattern video tutorial. Step by step instructions on how to make an easy crochet shawl with a textured look. A one size lace crochet triangle shawl made with a medium yarn (like aran yarn, 8 ply yarn, 10 ply yarn). I used Hobbii Metallico for this free crochet pattern that’s different and unique. It's a symmetrical lacy crochet shawl that works up really fast! And so much fun to make!

The Oak of life shawl is inspired by the stem and branches of an old oak tree, but it's also a bit like a medieval shawl or a viking shawl. It's Scandinavian design, Scandinavian crochet design to be exact. If you like patterns from Mijocrochet and The crochet crowd you might also like this one! I’ve put my heart into making this pattern for all of you crochet lovers and yarniacs in the world and I hope you enjoy this crochet time together with me.
I used 3,5 skeins for the main part (color rosaline, 05) and 1,5 skeins for the edge (sky blue metallic, 07) with a 5.00 millimeter hook (an H hook or 8 hook).

Thank you so much for sharing this! I used Ice Yarns Universe in pale silver and a 5.5mm hook. The tips on making the puffs long then a tight finish chain really helps add dimension to the puffs. Love it!

Juuuust finished this lovely. I used RH Shimmer in pewter and RH metallic in white. Love it! But my middle came out perfect. Like I have a full repeat so I had to fudge my center area a little.

This shawl is very beautiful but very hard to see in your tutorial because the yarns so dark....I do love the yarn but I'm not a big fan of wool...so I'm going to look for a substitute! Great shaw

Hi! Thank you! 💕 Yes, you can use other yarn weights if you want. If you go for lighter yarns I would add one (or maybe even two if super light yarn) yarn overs for each puff. Also, if you use lighter weight the shawl will be smaller -the lighter the yarn, the smaller the shawl. Same applies if you go for heavier yarn, but in the other way (it will get bigger). So it’s just about testing and experimenting to see what you like. ☺️ Happy crocheting 🧶🥰
