    I's a C6 C7 complete but hands are more T1. I have been in Ti Sport Chairs for 21 years. I'm in a ZRA the a is for adjustable. I like the 1.5" wide front wheels, if I run over a drain my will will not get caught in the slots. The ZR frames do not have the cross bar and easier to transfer when taking apart to get into a car. In the beginning I had reverse scissor breaks but switch to your style breaks when they were invented. The back you have is sweat resistant but I do not sweat and the traditional nylon is better for cleaning (if you have an accident). The ZRA has an adjustable pole the once you settle of a dump, you can put off the extra pole (easier to transfer). Over 21 years, I have been in 4 Ti Sports, I cracked one and bent one.

    Mason a couple things to consider. I'm a c5-c7 incomplete and a primarily manual chair user. I was a c6/c7 but was actually reinjured this last August and made worse 1 level higher. I highly recommend considering getting a rigid, contoured wheelchair back. I have had a few and love the ride designs Java back. Having the contoured back improves your posture, sitting balance and push efficiency tremendously. It was a game changer for me. Now or in the future when you buy a new chair or new axles look into quad axles. Instead of having to push the button on while you pull on the wheel there is a lever that you flip up to unlock it while you pull the wheel on or off and then flip it down once it's on or off. The only important thing is to flip it down when the wheels are off so the axle doesn't fall out of the wheel. I'm glad you like the aeroT. The reason I like the aeroZ frame with the single bar on the frame is because it fits over the steering wheel loading in and out of the car. Finally, you were smart to go with a black frame and accented wheels. I have the black frame with orange axle and castors. The matte black gets easily scratched. For small scratches a black sharpie actually covers it nicely. Thanks for all of your videos.

      Yeah, I found out about firmer contoured backs after I got my TiLite Aero T. Also, I wanted the quad-friendly axels when I ordered my chair, and thought that’s what I was getting, but apparently not. I still haven’t figured out how to take off the wheels on my own yet with the setup that I have. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    • @OffTheLineFox

      Mason Ellis You can purchase the quad axles for $150 from TiLite. Not sure how much you use them but I disassemble mine every day, multiple times a day. Also your chair can be retro fitted with a contoured back really easily and with your level injury could make a huge difference in your independence in the manual chair I've had a few brands and love the Ride Designs Java back, deep contour. Super easy to take on and off with one hand and limited hand function. I'm an incomplete c5-c7. BTW I'll be joining you guys at Camp Possibilities this summer. Super pumped!

    Nice chair. If you haven't used gloves to push, I would recommend it. I use the Sammons Preston wheelchair pushing cuff with dycem. 68 bucks. I push on the tires and use my palm area under the thumb. To slow down, I place that inner palm between the push rim and tire and push down.

    • @masonx54
      @masonx54  7 лет назад

      +mikesjunk00 I have Hatch wheelchair gloves. They're a bit too small. They work great though. I don't hardly use them unless I plan on pushing a lot throughout the day.

    My last manual chair before I moved into a power chair in 1984 was before the era of the ultralight wheelchairs. They pretty much all looked like what we call hospital chairs today. They were shiny metal steel framed hulks. My last chair was a bit lighter than the standard 64lb tank as it was an active duty lightweight at 46lbs. Pretty heavy in comparison to what is out there today huh? My nylon mag wheels were fairly light and I think the only model E&J put them on as mag wheels where heavy magnesium after that. The only thing that was adjustable other than the height of the foot plates was the height of the desk arms. With no adjustability many of us did not have a choice as to whether or not to keep the arms on the chair. My handrims were the first ones that had the projections built in as one piece with the rubber coating over all of the hand rim and projection - aka quad knobs. Before that the projections stuck on the hand rims looked like brake handles with the gray cover on them like brake handles did. Sounds pretty primitive in comparison.
    Keep working on your strength and endurance because the way insurance is going they will only cover one chair so come time for your next chair it will be either power or manual not both again. I am glad you have the option to get a good manual chair - a top of the line chair. Keep up the good work.

    • @masonx54
      @masonx54  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, that is the kind of chair I used at therapy. I would much rather have a power chair than one of those. My insurance did not cover two chairs. I was on different insurance when I purchased each.

    I just got an Aero T a few months ago; it came with those side release brakes, and I had to ask to replace them with standard lever brakes because I kept either pinching my fingers and/or knocking them into the frame of my chair. Other than that, my new Aero T is the most comfortable wheelchair I've used in my thirty-four years with Spina Bifida.

    • @masonx54
      @masonx54  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, it's easy to get your skin pinched with the scissor brakes. I'm glad you like your new chair!

  • @billbayh5179

    Love your pick of rigid manual chairs! I recommend some leather open-finger gloves through Harley-Davidson for nice traction between your rubber-coated push rims and hands...the callus' will be there though your wearing gloves. Once broke-in, you'll get 'em on in a snap. Thousands of miles rowing in the country daily; as weather permitted. Lots of water carry along and low volume music. I hope you come to love even the windy days as going against builds your strength and returning, with arms spread wide, you'll feel like your sailing... Warning, a power chair can be a bad temptation even when you get those 'Guns' in sync! Enjoyed!

    • @masonx54

    • @masonx54
      @masonx54  6 лет назад +1

      I’m not sure how much my manual wheelchair was because insurance paid for it, but they usually cost around a few thousand dollars. Before you transition into a manual wheelchair, watch this video. ruclips.net/video/dTi-upXm8XM/видео.html

    For financial reasons, I was stuck getting the Karma S ERGO ATX...which is a horrible chair in every way...but it does have really good brakes. The side guards are also ok; that's a wheelchair accessory I would never do without since my first chair was in the winter with mud and snow and no side guards at all. By the way, you would hugely benefit from quad knobs.
    Hmmm...I'm pretty sure it was you I was speaking with about tricep function and I do have trouble putting the brakes on (2:51)...so that is a tricep motion?

    • @masonx54
      @masonx54  4 года назад +2

      No, not as much tricep function as it is shoulder movement, moving my whole arm back.
