Old one like hundreds years one. No modification at the bathroom so far just to put the wheelchair. By the toilet I have to stand up. I can't get in the shower. It's an old one, and it's my son uses it. And it's very filthy and dirty, so I had to go pick up a shower. Of a bed shower or pick one at the sink and wash my hair at the sink. I can't use the showerr, wash my hair and my legs. But my friends are very poor. I don't have a safety rail. I have to stand and sit on the toilet.

Hi Mason I just had to have a look at my shower chair to check what make it actually was! It is a Freeway T80 Tilt In Space Shower Commode Chair - Standard. I live in the UK and I’m not sure the country of origin. It is a good chair, but there are some improvements that could be made. For the first time, I fell out of it the other day by leaning forward to reach some for something. Fortunately, I have reasonable upper body strength and was able to fall in a way that prevented me from getting hurt. I would say that on reflection, this could’ve been prevented. I wasn’t sitting far enough back in the seat and therefore my centre of gravity had shifted forward, it’s easy to learn from mistakes, but if one person can be saved from falling by reading this and it is worth it. Thanks and I look forward to your future videos.

Yeah, I have yet to find a good shower wheelchair. however, I believe this Zum SP made by RAZ Design is the one. Wow, I'm glad you are oaky. I have not fallen pout of my shower wheelchair yet but have often thought of it. I have only fallen out of my wheelchair once in my nine years of being paralyzed. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Yes, the Invacare 'Mariner' was a huge disappointment and leaning forward wo the front casters oriented correctly, OUCH! ...put my neck to the test on that fall. I have a shower chair similar to your new shower chair that is about to be replaced by another just like it. Looking at the Sum SP by Raz Design - Thanks!

I'm not sure what the name of it is, but my shower seat at my mom's house is blue with a red lever that rotates the seat and a gray circle button that will slide it from side to side if pushed in with the help of my weight. As for the one at dad's house, it's just a regular tub transfer bench with a seat, back rest, and arm rest in a walk-in shower

I have never used a shower bench. Which do you like better, the one at your dad's or mom's? Thank you for watching and commenting!

How do you transfer? The wheelchair to the shower chair?

    • @masonx54

I haven't tried doing it independently yet, but I would use a transfer board. Once I figure out how to do it myself, I will make a video showing how. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I look forward to your review because I've had the same Invacare you used. Same issues with brakes, I'm on my second seat and second backrest from wear and tear. I'm using a gel pad on top of the hard seat that's been helping manage the harshness on the skin and I think the plug was pinching my skin.
Does the seat have a plug for the hole or a version with no hole? The slot for the footrest, is it closed tube or open through? (I'm the person who uses that homemade pipe bracket to secure my chair for transfers.)
I like that the brakes are lower out of the way when transferring.
I'd be interested on how the wheel placement compares to the Invacare as far as height and how far forward, also if this one pushes better.
Curious how it feels for stability and tipping, Invacare is hard to tip but feels like it wants to twist apart lol.

    • @masonx54
      @masonx54  5 месяцев назад +2

I'm on my second brakes and second seat cushion. I don't believe the seat has a whole, but I will look into it and see. I'm not sure what you mean by, " The slot for the footrest, is it closed tube or open through?" - can you elaborate? Yeah,. I didn't like the location of the brakes at first, but I have begun to like them now. I appreciate your questions and will be sure to include them in my review video., I will say that from my experience so far, this one pushes much easier and better. This one is much more stable than the Invacare shower chair. I am really impressed by the build quality of this shower wheelchair compared to Invacare's. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I am curious about your thoughts about this kind of shower chair vs. a $150 standard padded shower bench. What are the advantages of this over a standard shower bench for showers and commode over toilet for bowel program? I guess you can save a transfer if you go straight from bowel program to shower. I just see these as a huge expense, but have never actually tried one.

    • @masonx54

For me with my situation, a shower/commode wheelchair makes the most sense. I have never tried using a shower bench or transferring to a toilet. Thank you for watching and commenting!

  • @uberdriver8743

If you were to stay in that chair from the moment you wake up till the moment you go to sleep, I suppose you can skip a bowel program and wait for the time your body wants to go on its own. Maybe that's a bad idea, but I thought I'd throw that out there. From what I gather, quads generally don't like being on a bowel program

    • @rollwiththepunches5932

most people would get a pressure area sitting in that for ages

Yes, and that's one issue with having a colonoscopy when paralyzed. Therefore, it's recommended to stay in bed for that. Thank you for watching and commenting!
