I spent 4.5 months in Jamaica recently, and now I'm back in Florida USA (another MATRIX)... so I 100% understand! I work as a graphic designer and web designer/developer, and I've worked my ass off to change careers at a very late age... so that allowed me to work from Jamaica (from home), for a USA company. However, Jamaica's immigration rules are not easy so I can only stay in Jamaica for a total of six months per calendar year so that means I have to find another place to live for the rest of the six months of the year and everything is so expensive in the states so I am currently looking into South American or other Caribbean countries. I have a long history of visiting Jamaica. My first husband was Jamaican and my daughter is half Jamaican. This time when I went, I stayed with locals and fell in love with the countryside! I grew up in Kentucky in the USA, so it is very familiar. I think many of us going through this "awakening" are realizing we need to get back to nature and the beauty of this earth, and step out of the matrix! I've been miserable since I got back, crying for no reason other than I know 100% that I'm in the wrong place! Some say we're "Star Seeds" looking for where we once lived... I too have family and others asking why I can't just be normal. I'm now 56, I've never been normal... I was just trying to convince myself that I was, because everybody expected me to be! DON'T DO IT! Normal is NOT FUN! my only suggestion is make sure you have a good income source, no matter where you end up... but be creative with that income source and do what you love! You have to live your life! Once you do, and you succeed, "they" will understand.

What you are feeling is that rebel spirit and if you look back at Jamaica history rebels were taken to Jamaica so congratulation you are one of us. Rebels don't go quietly into the night we make an impact on the world around us. Jamaica might be little but we LARGE.

jess i travelled to jamaica solo in 2023 . i was only there for 3 1/2 months. I decided to build a holiday home there , so I can live there for half the year until i retire . i have jamaican roots but was brought up in the uk and living in the rat race. i'm only 32. i am now a single mother after marrying a jamaican which did not work.
yet my soul is telling me that i need to be on the island instead of doing a 9-5 for the next 30 years . slow pace of life , natural living suits me much better than being super productive and filled with anxiety every day in europe . follow your heart. do not let your family force you to give up on your dreams jamaica does come with some negatives high crime rate and not 1st class facilities but if your wise you can make things work for you .
1)make sure you have a means of earning money .remote work in usd . i know alot of people teach english online
2)ensure you live in a safe community near facilities such as hospital
3) be careful who you hang around with. as many people scam tourists as lifestyle

I totally understand the need to step back. You are one of the most honest traveler and blogger to come to Jamaica. Most of the others are Poverty Pimps Pushing Poverty Porn but not you, you are a real traveler and a true member of the Jamaican family. A real traveler immerses themselves into the society they visit. They become one with the people and understand the life of the people because they properly evaluate that life. They see and understand both the positives and the negatives and are not in it for the shock value. Jamaicans have created a bond with you and you with us. I totally understand. I am born in the UK and I want to live in Jamaica. It keeps calling my soul. Jamaica will do that to you. I would say just make sure you research and choose an area to live where you are safe. Jamaica is great to live but you need revenue. If I were you I would definitely live there, give yourself 1 year. After this you will know if it is something that is long term.

I know what to do Jess.. Go back home for couple months,get the trust fund money from dad,then after u get just go buy the land in jamaica you know that what u really want to do.
I have a mantra when I'm strsas, I repeat this " take your time you're doing fine " which unknowingly is what you are doing . Stay strong and DO listen to that inner voice . I myself have done just that we were supposed to move back to JA this year, something happened which told me to slow down , so we've taken another path at the moment .

Jess,i didn't get to watch all your videos, but from the ones i saw, you were in your element hanging with Jamaicans. I believe if you chose to return to Jamaica, you would thrive there. Open a modest Hostel for example, and immediately many of your followers and countrymen and women would visit and patronize you. You met Throp and he works in the tourist sector on his family hotel. He also left the US to move to Jamaica. Many people with a certain insight and who brings something unique to the table will thrive there. Vlogger Irina moved there from the UK, as a born Ukrainian, with no knowledge of Jamaica and she loves it there. I could see you getting roles in any of the major hotels as a kind destination coordinator. You woukd be sought after. Ultimately you are either from a wealthy background or you will have to work. Its better to do it in a country where you feel at peace and is getting nothing but love. Jamaica is boom town currently. Lots of major improvements and many who can are moving there, incesting there or both. Watch the youtube feature of Diplo an American musician who just completed his stunning mansion in the cool Portland hills. Iteas featured in Architectural Design/Digest. Jamaica is no backwater , youmay do even better there than in your native country. Andno wild animals,like the many you have in Australia. I just want uou to know whatever your decision its ok but if it includes living in Jamaica run wud it. I recall when you were kind enough to buy a young jamaican boy a drum set. Your kindness is awesome and it shows inall the things you do. Embrace Jamaica. If my yardies love you like i believe they do you will be living your gest life right there. That is it . I had a similar experience in Mexico earlier this year. I’ve always wanted to live abroad (I’m from the US). I stayed for 3 months and I was the happiest I have ever been. Needless to say I’m back in the states working on my plan to get back. Even when I tried plug myself back into the matrix here, my soul reminds me that I’m not suppose to be here. With you in Spirit Jess! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Living everyday being unhappy is a slow death...the tail should never wag the dog the dog should wag the tail. Your ego is always the tail, your soul is the dog (for lack of a better analogy lol). Fear to walk away from societies norms is what robs us of our natural existence. Family will be made to understand everything once you align yourself harmoniously with your destiny, with the your blueprint and everything else on the periphery will align too cause its always a complete fix when you align yourself with your soul's joy. It's chaotic when you choose the ego (from listening to you kno you kno this). So shed the fear, free up your soul and alow your heart to breathe and truly express itself.
