My mother got diagnosed with melanoma when she was 47 and I was 17 the fall of 1980. It returned two more times in the next four years. The last time a month before my wedding in December of 1984. At that point she didn’t think she’d live to see any grandchildren. She died in 2016 of Parkinson’s related issues living to see a good number of her great grandchildren. It never did return but it did haunt her her whole life. She spent so much energy and time worrying about something that never ended up happening. None of us knows the number of our days.
Meredith I am going through exactly what you are, stage 4 metastatic melanoma, the scans are maddening and nerve wracking, I am thankful I am 75 and was diagnosed later in life, my first scan, the results after the immunotherapy were fantastic, liver was clear and lungs went down to a quarter of what they were, second scan was stable, now I have another scan on the 15th and I am a nervous wreck, we have to stay strong and positive, I love you and it’s nice watching someone going through the same thing, this disease sucks but I figure at least now they have treatments for it, so we have a chance, and have to run with it, can’t wait for your next post, stay strong and positive!🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry you’re going through all this. It is quite the rollercoaster, but I am so grateful I was able to reach someone going through the same situation. This is why I wanted to share my journey in the first place: to help others feel less alone in their journey, and in turn it’s helped me feel less alone in mine. Oh sweetie, don’t feel guilty! You’re a busy mom and that takes priority. Being stable isn’t a bad thing at all! I hear your frustration but maintain being where you are and know there are SO many advances coming out for melanoma. Girl, you’ve got this! I’m so proud of you.

As a cancer patient I totally understand the conflict of being grateful for stability and yet still disappointed that it isn’t shrinking and going into remission. It is hard to ever mentally relax when the cancer continues to hang over your head. It’s tough. Keep hanging in there and take each day as it comes. As a vlogger I can understand your desire to keep your audience informed. I tend to avoid letting my audience know when I’m doing a scan and inform them after the fact so I don’t feel the pressure to report back. But if I have let it drop, it’s hard because I too don’t want to worry people but you’ve done the right thing to prioritise your family. xxx

Of course you are happy for stable news, but it is perfectly normal to really want the all clear or regression. Nobody should ever tell you how to feel. I'm grateful for stable scans but also can totally see the anxiety and frustration of having to do the scan every 3 months, etc...I am continuing to pray every day for remission and eradication of the cancer in totality. Meredith I can’t even imagine the anxiety brought on by scans every 3 months. I’m fairly healthy but when it comes time for my mammogram and yearly check up I make myself sick with worry and anxiety for about a month. The anticipation alone of results of yearly appointments can’t compare to your journey. Please know I’m praying for strength and healing for you and your your sweet family. God bless 🙏🏼🙏🏼

It's always great to hear from you!!! I never have an issue when you vlog or not. Yes, I guess it's a bit of concern when it's been a bit of time between videos, but I pray constantly for you and your family. Thus, I trust in the Lord to get us all through the day to day of life. With a lung disease of my own to deal with, I realize that each day brings different challenges as well. As you very well know, mentally it can be very taxing on the way you approach each day. Ups, downs, ... With that said, you are looking really good, despite your ( daily) concerns. You do what you need/ want first, and everyone else will be ok. Now, if you ever do decide to stop your taping , then yes, it would be nice to know that perhaps. Otherwise, you have a husband, kids, and other priorities first. If there is anything I/ we can do for you, just ask. Thank you for the updates. l look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Meredith, you look amazing and love your hair! I totally understand with the scan results and I just got mine too which was mostly stable with a new spot growing. while it is not life threatening and could be worse, it really just sucks to have cancer and to be living your life scan to scan. If somehow we can just forget that we have it it would be nice, but unfortunately that's not going to happen. I often wonder how I would be if I were in remission because there are different worries with that as well. I can relate with the guilt you feel because I feel that I put that on my family as well and sometimes I wish I could just give my husband a normal life. My kids are too young to really understand, but I worry about them getting older as well. Sending you lots of love and a big hug.

Hi! I am 32 and pregnant with my 4th and just got diagnosed with melanoma too :( they did a wide local excision and lymph node biopsy and I’m still waiting on the results. Did you have to do treatment while you were still pregnant? Were you able to breastfeed (if you wanted to)? Any takeaways?
@@galinaz9033 I was at the end of my pregnancy when I was diagnosed so I was induced and had my wide local incision and lymph node biopsy a month postpartum. Biopsy was unfortunately positive and I began treatment shortly after. I did have to quit breastfeeding due to the medications. The new addition to our family has actually been a wonderfully timed gift. She brings us such joy and is a bright ray of sunshine during such a dark time. Personally as a Christian my relationship with Christ is what gives me hope. I have to daily hand over my fear and anxiety to Him and ask for His strength because there is no way I could do this on my own. I wish you well on your journey and congrats on the little one!
I totally understand where your coming from. Don’t feel bad, you’re just being honest about how you feel. I too am a cancer survivor! I can totally relate to how you feel. I’m still praying for that “you’re in full remission” statement myself!
The pre-scan anxiety is such a real and horrible thing to have to go through every three months. I too get the same way before each scan I have.

I appreciate your time. There's so much we all go through in life with the many obstacles and unplanned events from day to day. And with a lung disease of my own, I also realize how that can play on one's psyche one minute to the next. There is no timetable for you posting video's either. There are quite a few things that you need to deal with before worrying about any of us. And, even with that said, if you aren't up to sharing anything, that's perfectly fine. Take care of yourself, your kids and husband, etc ... You're an amazing lady, and I feel very privileged to be a small part of your life. I / we all take a back seat to what you face each day. Besides that, I am constantly praying for you and your family, that I trust in the Lord for answers to those prayers. I love hearing from you indeed! But keep you and your family first, we will all survive until you are ready to post another vlog. Listen, you are amazing beyond words!!! Glad to know things are still stable. In my soon-to-begin treatment, I intend to support it with a change in my diet. There are a lot of great resources and holistic oncologists out there to help as well. Just got the book Radical Remission by Kelly Turner to get me started. My prayers to you and your family.
Keep thinking forward. You never know what new treatments will be developed. Stable is good. My brother had aplasticanemia when he was 3 years old. He was the first recipient of an experimental/ trial drug and the treatment was successful! He’s now 33 with a toddler and another baby on the way. You got this girl! ❤️

For some reason this video popped up on my feed and I beieve it is the first one of yours I have watched. As someone who has been dealing with cancer since August 2020 I understand some of the things you have been going through. I just want you to know that I am praying for you. I had a good scan of one area this past January where I previously dealt with malignant cancer and now my next big scan is an MRI of my pancreas to make sure the pre-cancerous lesions discovered there about two years ago are still just pre! The heaviness I detected in your video is the same I feel hanging over my head. Even though I know cancer can come back at any time it sure would be nice to have an all clear but that has not happened yet and I have to face that it may never happen.
I understand what you’re going through as much as a close relative can feel. My sister is currently going through immunotherapy. During her last CT scan, she was also told her cancer was stable. You’re right that it’s good news, but the cancer is still there and it’s not remission. After her next treatment, she’ll get a PET scan, so in another 4 or 5 weeks. The anxiety she experiences, and our whole family experiences, ahead of scans is so much of a struggle. Take care of yourself, girl. You’re not alone.

Your priorities are with your family and your real life. We understand that you can’t always update as soon as you’d want. Take the time you need. Hi Meredith, your video came along my feed and jumped out at me. I am wide awake trying to occupy my mind because it's the night before scan day for my husband. We are about 9 months into his diagnosis of melanoma stage 4 that has gone to his lungs and his brain. He is doing very well right now but every 3 months, it's like waiting for the diagnosis all over again. I can't say I know exactly what you are going through but I do hope for the best for you and your family.

My husband had stage 4 NHL 12 years ago. In remission since first treatments. He wouldn't and still doesn't claim that cancer. Instead he says "God can-answer". 🙏

I was in the emergency room this weekend. As I called friends and family, all I did was apologize to everyone. I hear you.
I have no idea why your video popped up on me but i always take it as a sogn that i need to watch it and there is a lesson in it for me. I woke up this am in a very pitty me mindset. My body is in alot of pain and i have some things going on that is causing me alot of stress. I am a cancer survivor as is my husband. Your video is a reminder to me that life could be worse and i need to snap out of my mood. First of all. You take the time you need to process. Anyone who thinks badly of u for not updating us sooner is bot someone who understands these emotions. 2. Even though you have good news, it doesnt mean that you still cant be frustrated or sad. Cancer is thing that is processed differently by all of us and its HARD. There are absalutely no wrong feelings. You are right to sit in your feelings and process. Of course you wanted it to shrink! Of course you want remission! I’m so sorry you have to endure this. Cancer sucks so bad. My son was just diagnosed with a deadly cancer and I realistically can only hope for at least one good year, but I still secretly hope he will be one of the very few miracles. I am so angry at the unfairness. He’s such a brilliant person and so very loved by so many. You are right it affects others, but it’s part of the price we all pay for deeply loving other people. I wouldn’t want to live without experiencing this love I feel for my family even in spite of the pain and worry when they are sick or hurt.
I’m so sorry, you don’t owe us any explanation. Cancer is so crazy how no change is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.

Hi Merideth …I’m sorry that you are disappointed in your news. I only have 8 immunotherapy treatments left for my melanoma but I was just diagnosed with breast cancer too and starting chemo on top of my immunotherapy…..my heart sunk and faith is tested. I’m not even 50….the breast cancer treatments r so cruel….God Bless…love your hair cut

There is progress being made in melanoma with new drugs. You may not need scans that often in future. 🙏 prayers for your recovery.

Hey there, your scan results are great and I am happy for you. I am adage 3b halfway through my Keytruda treatments and my latest scan showed slight decrease in size. I am Vegan and I do special green juices and supplements and everything I eat is whole food. I know you were plant based when I first started watching you. Have you considered doing that and being solely plant based whole foods? I was just wondering...I am praying for you always and thank you for updating us❤
Good luck on the rest of your treatments! Prayers for good results from here on out! 🩷🙏🏻 and I’m not against going plant-based again in the future. But for now, I will stick to an omnivore diet because it feels like the right choice in this moment. But I am so grateful that the plant-based diet helped with my digestion during my treatments! That was such a blessing 🙌🏻

I had life threatening Asthma that every doctor said that saw me they never seen someone so bad. In 2008 I almost died twice in one week with 2 hospital visits, severely low white blood cell count... I was crawling to get to bathroom 20 ft from my bedroom, it took nearly month and half before I could go back to work and nearly month til I was strong enough to drive. Had numerous people have to rush me to ER cause I was having such a severe attack I couldn't breathe... I still have never met anyone that was as severe as I was. After 15 years I was so desperate I didn't want to live anymore cause It literally affected everything in my life including my relationships. People think it's simply you can't breathe... ha if only thats all it was... I went to leaders in the church on day I was very ill and they prayed over me and I walked out of there like I've never had asthma!!! Praising God!!! I had 4 decent years and then had to resign at my job 2022 in November from daily internal bleeding, Anemia, edema, extreme bloody viral rashes even as I'm typing this with deep wounds all over, and months of doctors saying I'm fine when I felt like I was in shock and dying every meal to find celiac disease, and celiac Artery Stenosis Disease that I'm waiting on surgery for because it's a crushed Artery over my aorta which explains knife like stomach cramping and full body spasms and extreme fatigue that I keep nodding off trying to type this...in God's timing I'll resurrect!!! I met someone while buying an item and guy sailing he's selling his house, cars and everything to go our of state and take care of his dying brother from tumor (think it was a brain tumor)
...I explained how God healed me suddenly of severe life threatening asthma and told him I'd be praying for his brother, as I jumped in my car I felt compelled to tell him let me know when God heals his brother and he said he would but was obviously he thought his brother wouldn't make it. Month later got a message stating doctors couldn't find any tumors and he thanked me for praying and said must of been the prayers!!!! Praising God!!!
So I heard your story on this video and want to encourage you to NEVER give up... believe God for full healing but surrender your health to God either way and like you already are doing seek to help others through the challenges and experience!!! Take Care.... im praying for you... you must feel alone... but don't let that slow you down! People know you are suffering I'm unique ways... God also sees it and you seeking Him will move mountains!!! Imagine if God does heal you suddenly how it'll impact your doctors and you RUclips channel!!!❤
Dear Meredith; following your healing story does not mean we have to be informed about every step. You don't have to worry about us waiting and you having the "duty" to make a video. It is still your private life and entirely your decision whether, when and how much you want to reveal to the public. We look forward to hearing from you and are glad that everything has remained stable. It may still go away or there may be new treatments you can get soon. Research is in full swing. Do not worry! Everything is fine as it is right now. You'll get old and gray - for sure! 👵🥰🧡

I know exactly what you mean about scans every 3 months, I had my scan today and oncologist appt. tomorrow!!I am a nervous wreck! I am 73 and 1 year agothis Memorial day I found out I have a Thymic neuroendocrine tumor, after trying to surgically remove it! When they opened me up they found the tumor had grown into the sack of my lungs my Vegas nerve and my aorta he shaved off as much as he could, that is why I have stage 3, my surgery was 7 hours!! 3 months ago I had my pet scan, My cancer is stable, I never heard that term before!! Now I had a CT scan will find out tomorrow, at least I am old!! God bless you!!!

I get scans every 3 months too for stage 4 ovarian cancer. There's always going to be anxiety when it's scan time. Someone said in one of my support groups that scans are just a way to decide on our treatment path, whether you're in remission or undergoing treatment. I now look forward to my scans because the sooner I know of an issue, the better I'll be. I was diagnosed in July 2016.
Yes, as scary and stressful as scans can be, they are 100% necessary in this journey. And I am grateful in some ways that I get to check on things so regularly. Prayers for you on this journey 🩷🙏🏻
Oh Meredith I love you so much!! Yes I have been thinking of you alot. As a cancer "survivor" myself I totally understand how you feel. "Remission" means No Evidence of Disease". In your case "stable" means its still there. How scary and frustrating for you. You probably feel like there is a time bomb lurking inside waiting to go off!! Here is an opposite perspective regarding scans. I carry the breast cancer gene which I was told means your chances of recurrence are HIGHER than the average population. Ok so that means I probably need more frequent scans! My oncologist looks at me and says "oh you worry too much" and refused to do any more scans after 5 years!!! (Yes I did find a different doctor who treats high risk patients and she totally agrees with me and monitors me yearly). But you know the fear never goes away ever!! So let's look at your situation from a different perspective: tell yourself "okay I know it could start growing again at any time but thank God they WANT to scan me often"! The fear will never go away. Another perspective: people die in car crashes daily but we have to put that fear out of our mind but we drive with more awareness, take all safety precautions and take Jesus with us!! Sending my love and hugs!
