And if you are going to have lights on your bow, following the regulations in regard to red and green could help prevent a power boat from mis interpreting your direction of travel.
A great way to hold your crate tight in the kayak is to run a strap up through the two skupper holes in the bottom and tighen it up inside the crate, works great!
You could make a DIY paddle that has removeable ends, leaving you with a pole that could receive other inserts, such as: spear, gaff hook, net etc. If you need it to become a paddle, fine. Otherwise it could serve in other ways that save you real estate where its very precious. Also, don't bury your boat horn. Mount it in a sheath to the outside of your crate for immediate access.

I have the Titan 10.5 "Yak, and did a modification with "Kite String" about 5 years ago - after the S/S Cable broke Twice in 3 months - on my rudder control. It's actually Kite Surfing String, with a breaking strength of nearly 700 pounds. After using it nearly a season, I called up Native Watercraft and told them about it. (I guess it's "Standard" now, on most of their kayaks.) Mine has held up for nearly 5 years, with only one time having to "adjust" it due to stretching. About the rudder extension - I made mine from 18 wheeler mud flap - and it hasn't "Broken"! Haha! I'm working on a Drop-Down Rudder now, made of aluminum - so I can drop it down or raise it, from the seat. (Let ya know how THAT works out for me, in the future!). Installing a Garmin 93 UHD SV on the 'Yak today. (Got tired of my buddies finding more fish than I could, with my old Lowrance Hook 7 SV!). Haha!
I love this post. Mud Wheeler Flap mod is awesome and great work on the "Kite String" I believe that is Polyethylene by Spectra (USA) or Dyneema (Europe) which is what you would want. I'm curious on how your drop down rudder turns out. Let me know... .and yeah.. going to be investing in an upgraded Fish Fisher this year as well. Thanks for the tips!
If you need a comprehensive 101 to get an idea of what kayak fishing involves, this is it. Just one small thing was niggling me about this setup which I thought was brilliant, is the unsecured battery. You could potentially short out your electronic equipment for the sake of securing the battery in some type of bracket which could as simple as the other bungee attachments you already use.
Alot of cool things in this video. I just purchased the garmin 4 for my Kayak. I have the switchblade already installed. I was using my helix but I think I'm going to just use it on my boat and on the ice
Guess that would depend on the length of your kayak. I have a 10ft native and it’s no problem. That’s why the design is adjustable so you are good to go.
Great question. I would imagine that would work. Anything to dull the light. I also know some of the LED strips come with a remote in which you can change colors as well as dimming settings. May be good to invest on the front end if you want this flexibility.

Not having a peddle drive yet, I love carbon fiber paddles. I have an old Aquabound Stingray, and a newer Bending Branches Angler. Man you have a nice setup. I like how you went through showing how you set it up. I also really like your DIY leashes that you made. I did the same thing using 550 cord & carabiners on both ends and I haven't had a problem since. I used it to tie to other boaters , kayaker , boat docks. I also like you're DIY pulling rope you have. I have 1 too that I made. When I told my buddy how I made the DIY leashes My buddy said tomorrow I'm going to make the same thing for my kayak. He realize how important they really was. I also like your Chaco sandals you are wearing. I have 2 question? I heard several people said they are having problems with the toe loop tightening down really tight on their big toe causing the big toe to hurt. Have you ever had this problem before & #2. Hey Mack, Thanks for stopping by and for your questions. When it comes to the big toe loop, when you first purchase them...this can be an issue but over time you dial in the fit. They also come without the toe loop if you are worried about it. Also, yes the toe loop is one continuous strap so every part of the sandal strap is adjustable. Hop that helps. These are great sandals and that last about 7-10 years. Keep the questions coming!
@@wendellfishing thank you buddy for replying back and you are welcome. Oh okay you just have to dial them in comfortably. Me & my buddy is looking for a pair & he just told me that they have some without the toe loop. My buddy doesn't have wide feet but his toes are spread out so the pair that I tried on might work for him. But the ones I tried on in the store I found out they was not wide & they only carry the toe loop Style. I think the one with out the toe Loop style in wide is what I need to try on to see if they fit cuz I even try to put the toe loop underneath my big toe but I still cannot even get my foot to fit in the sandal because the straps was not wide enough. I got to try to find a store that would sell the wide version of these sandals. That is awesome that these sandals last 7 - to 10 years man. I was buying flip flops every 6 months at first cuz I was wearing them out really fast to the point that underneath my big toe , the balls of my foot , & the heel of my foot would have a hole through the of footbed of the flip flops until I found a good pair & now I get about a year out of my flip flops. The only problem I have is that the footbed wears out really really fast. I have a nice wide worn-out footprint on the footbed of my flip flops. I really really do appreciate the information thank you so much. Hopefully I can find a pair by Springtime.

I very much like the kayak, but my question is why is there nothing inside the cargo holds to store belongings in? It's just a hole into the inside of the kayak. Am I missing something?

Imagine fishing without a phone to text, make calls, or post to instagram and not having a GoPro to film with. It might actually be peaceful and a huge part of the point…
On the flip side... Imagine fishing where people love connecting with the broader fishing community and sharing their knowledge with family and future generations. I guess we all get out there for different reasons. I completely respect that

Question. I’m wondering why and where a person goes that you need to carry 6 fishing rods. I been fishing 27 years and not once have I been on a trip where I needed more then 2 rods. Just wondering. And great video to thanks
Solid question BigD, I sometimes go with less, however I have different power/action rods with different line types and line weights for different lures and cover I'm fishing. I will oftentimes run through 3-4 of my setups in a matter of 5 minutes. I don't like changing out lures when I'm out on the water if its not necessary.

Man, I love these. I'm just not sure about putting this much money in a kayak. My boat drains me enough 😂
Don't ever fish out of one... the force is strong with fishing yaks
what don't you like about the transducer arm and did you ever put the transducer under your kayak?
It was just a bit clunky.... It's fine. I think if I would to go back in time I would try it in my hull in some putty. I heard it still works but never tried it. I recently upgraded kayaks and it has a transducer puck in the design.ruclips.net/video/HmLxie6s_Sk/видео.html
Are you still running your transducer over the side or have you permanently mounted somewhere?
Hey Yosdad.. long time no see! I upgraded to the Bonafide P127 which has a transducer mount under the kayak. The native slayer propel 10 doesn't have a fish finder now at all.
I very much like the kayak, but my question is why is there nothing inside the cargo holds to store belongings in? It's just a hole into the inside of the kayak. Am I missing something?
I keep my batteries, first aid kit, tow rope, and other misc in my cargo holds..
Fantastic video, thanks for the tips!! Can I ask what mount you use for the garmin unit itself please?
Right on Keith! Here's the mount you will need for the Garmin Striker4: geni.us/YakAttackGarminBase
@@wendellfishing Excellent, thanks so much for the reply I'll be looking into one of them now.
@@_Stormbringer_ NP brother!

Glad you like them!
Awesome detailed video, Thx!

Dang! Great Video!
Thanks brother! Glad it was helpful!
Ohio boat, nice. Ever been to Kiser Lake. Is a non electic paddle lake
I’ve never been but likely because it 3.5 hours away :)
Yup, I'm above Chillicothe so it's a drive for me. Went south to Lake Vesuvius off Rt 93 , nailed a 5 lbs bass in the lilly pads patch over their.
It's a nice lake to paddle.
@@wendellfishing Kiser Lake has big hybrid striper bass feeding off the bottom. Plus alot more different species
@@lowlifeangler nice
@@wendellfishing Kiser Lake Update: went over there today with my Tamarack Pro. tried different lures and setups. Used a shad natural color medium sized swimbait with a micro rod and reel.
Nailed a 2ft+ striper bass. Trying to getting in the boat, forgot the net , snapped 8lb braid. It pulled me around in circles.
Awesome stuff man love your videos!! Would be awesome to see you at AEP June 24-27😂👍🏻
Dixie, thanks boss, I really appreciate it. I'm not planning on being there in late June as I will be there in Early June. I want to apologize in advance for catching all of the fish.
@@wendellfishing you'll just have to tell me the best baits and I'll try to pick up the stragglers!🤙🏻
I completely respect that
@@wendellfishing 🤣 I had video after video running and everyone mentioned their phone and I snapped :)
I get it of course. But I do also believe we’re too constantly connected. I’ve got a few years on you…I used to document and upload my every move. I’ve found much more peace when I stopped.
Anyway, fish-on!
I don’t even fish 🤣
Be well.
🤜🏼🤛🏽
I do from time to time turn it all off and fish disconnected. So I get get it for sure. @@pbosche Be well for sure
Thanks 🙏
How much is the price for a fishink kayak like this? Thanks.🐟🐟🐟👍👍👍 for the nice clip.
Hey Mike... this is a Native Slayer Propel 10. New.. . you are looking at $2,300.... I never buy new and got this one for $1,300 off FB Marketplace. Same with my recent Bonafide P127
thanks good ideal!!! nice bro
Thanks Jason!
Your neighborhood looks like lake waynoka
Pickleball and needlework every evening
where do you keep the fish you catch?
catch and release
Is there an install video for the lights?
Sorry Nathan.. never did a video on the lights. Sorry boss. Maybe in the future.
No worries. I'll figure it out. It's going to be a must have in the summer for night time catfish or crappie.
@@nathanieleasonbign81970 Right on!
Where do you store your catches?
When I do keep them, I just run a stringer off the right side of the yak. Just not long enough to get caught in the propeller.
@@wendellfishing Gotcha. Been working out storage for ocean rockfishing, I was going to do a bag over the side but don’t really want to chum the water
@@garyweyel7366 Send me a link to the type of kayak you have.
Полезное видео, спасибо
New yak fisher here. Subbed!
Awesome thank you!
That's a "TON" of stuff on that tiny kayak!
You said "TON" at least 10 times. Amazing how this tiny kayak can hold 10 tons of gear!
TIP: GET A COUPLE MARKER BOUYS!
Set them loose at each end of your kayak so when it rolls over... AND IT WILL!... You'll know where all your gear went.
Lol.. you are ton... I did say ton a little too much. That's what brutal about RUclips.. you have to edit yourself when you are done shooting! Thanks for the tip!
Do you take a cooler or container to put your fish in?
I rarely keep fish.. maybe once or twice a year on multiday trips where I will just string them off the side of my yak
@@wendellfishing I'm moving to Jacksonville, Florida this summer. I'm not too familiar with salt water kayaking or the area. But I fear stringing fish along the side would be problematic regarding predators. I was just wondering if you had a 'keeper' solution. Great channel, very informative!
@@130flyboy65 No keeper solution right now other than strapping a cooler behind your seat. I know some guys put DIY live wells behind their seat. Good luck!
Love the videos but every time you posted something new, my bank account takes a hit! I am running a 2019 Jackson BigRig and all my fishing is coastal (Oregon), primarily rock fish within 100 meters of the shore.
Right on Daniel... If it makes you feel any better, whenever I watch other videos... my bank account takes a hit too. It's the secondary reason I started the channel. To offset the cost of fishing! Those Jackson Big Rigs are great kayaks.
I'd run a nice piece of aluminum. Definitely a lot cheaper to make it, than that boondocks one
What would you run aluminum for?
@@wendellfishing instead of plexiglass, weight is just about the same but aluminumunmiimmmm won't shatter. A peice of 1/8 thick aluminum. There's a place near me called metal supermarkets. I can go get a 6-in x 10 piece of 8 in aluminum and then cut out the design I want.. and that piece of aluminum is probably only a couple bucks
@@wendellfishing and the aluminumunmiimmmm gives me peace of mind that it won't shatter if it was to hit a rock. Plexiglass I would worry about. But that's just my .02. I'd rather have the extra protection and not need it ,bthen need it and not have it
Ahhh. I see! Good point
why not use a outrigger since your center of gravity is higher were your seat is
I have no need for an outrigger on this rig. I can stand up with no issue but I've seen guys who need them and it makes sense to me.
As far as the wheels and bracket, wont matter where its installed. it will eventually crack the kayak.
Cant agree with you on that one.. going strong for years
What CNC machine do you have for making parts
I don't have a CNC machine.. that would be awesome though. What part were you referencing Mike?
@@wendellfishing Sorry. I could have sworn you showed one in your garage/shop. Must have been someone else.
Love your hacks.
@@mikehutton8623 Thanks boss.. I have quite a bit of stuff in my garage so who knows. :)
Use red lights in your cockpit , they don’t hinder your night vision , fact !
Where did you get the seat?
Hey Kitty, that seat came stock with the native slayer propel 10
Hey cool vid just fyi red and green lights are meant to mark the right and left of your boat, as it's a kayak may not be a big deal but could confuse boaters seeing all green
Right on.. thanks Ed!
My guy that first aid kit is useless if it's not on you! Please carry it on you or get one for the car and one for the kayak!

I got a native kayak and I would not buy another one it cracked by the seat and they went back it up paid a lot of money for it so I wouldn't buy another one
My native slayer cracked as well.. had to repair it. Granted it was a 2018 model.
supposed to have green on one side and red on the other on the bow I thought.?????
Hey Mike..... I put those on to be fish attraction lights for some of the small lakes and ponds I fish.
Native Slayer? Wth.
What was the story of why you went from the inflation life vest to the new one and only using that when it's 100 degrees.... you sounded like a ferm believer in the one now a sudden swich?
I don't think I have fished a 80+ degree day here in NE Ohio yet this year
Jesus couldn't you fit any more gear on board? You're going to need a bigger boat😂
