Those earily 2000's R6 / R1 bikes are bad ass. Yamaha had the looks dialed in. Back in the day I went from a 1987 honda VFR 700 to a R6 and I about shit my pants at just how different that inline 4 was.
Nice bike Ken! You definitely have shown what that first generation Yamaha R6 can do, holies all day on that thing lol! 🤣 I hope that whoever buys it takes the time to fix the slipping second gear, those years of the Yamaha R6, ( 1999 - 2002 ), are on my list of dream motorcycles, so to whoever may buy this bike, you got yourself a very good and capable machine for the street & the track, 👍👌😁😎👏💪💯🤙
@@markcdeyoung3118 True, I usually see sport Bikes riding around Cities. I probably would have road an R-6 all day with out it bothering me up until age 35 or40 . They do say your wrists get sore however. .. I recently saw an R-6 with handle bars like a dirt bike on it .
@@mikeskidmore6754 I Own a 2002, and I think You'd be surprised how tolerable it actually is. The 1st Gens are kinda known for "Comfort" lol. This is one of the best Road Bikes in the SS Class.
It’s no issue at all. I’m almost 60 and I have zero issues riding my 01 R6. Been to and from NY to MD (4 hours 1 way) multiple times and enjoyed every bit of those trips. The turnpike is my favorite stretch. I have only owned sport bikes over the last 40 years and always will. Gym workouts with back strengthening will work wonders. To each his own though..

FYI the second gear thing was a know issues and that work was done on my bike too. It wasn’t cheap, but took care of the issue.

have you ever had any first generation 98 or 99 yzf R1s in the shop ken?
28,000 miles is a lot of miles to ride in such an uncomfortable position .
Kinda depends on how many breaks you take on the journey to that 28,000 mile mark ...and how old your bod feel while you're duin' it 😅

@@jerodrobinson4040 I looked at used ones in the Classifieds they are asking about the same price for them as a new R-9 sells for .
