    Could you show some examples of someone on a horse with a good fitting saddle and someone on a horse with a poor fitting saddle?

    I tried a few saddles with the horses that we now have. Previously, I rode Argentinian flat seat saddles on Racking horses. I finally decided to try an inexpensive treeless saddle and bot my horses and I LOVE it. I feel that it is a good fit for them (OTTB & a Qtr Horse) as well as for me. I feel more balanced and yet more connected to my horse.

    I event so I have an xc style jump saddle and a dressage saddle. I also dabble in some ranch riding and reining so I have a reining style western saddle. And I have a western style endurance saddle for long trail rides. :D

    You hit the it right on the nail. I ride both English and western, although I prefer English. I've always wondered why my legs and groin would hurt after I ride. My family taught me to never ride in the winter time. So, my parents said you haven't used those muscles in a long time.

    Very helpful information. Thankyou. We use western saddles and trail ride. Also wondering if a a breast collar would help at all. My horse is very sensitive toward the back.

    We always had used saddles but I also agree with you, that maybe the saddles were of cheap construction. We weren't poor. My dad made good money. My mum was going to college and my dad was the only one working at the time

    English and trail saddle. I have noticed having a knee guard/roll ( not sure what the correct term is here) seems to make a saddle more comfortable if you ride downhill. Is this the purpose? Or to help keep you more to the back of your saddle?

    I ride in both dressage saddle and jumping saddle 😹 the dressage saddle I have support to lengthen my legs down and around the horse, but the jumping saddle I like the support from behind, as I have a very small bum so I could easily get to far behind on the sadle if it's too big.. I noticed this fist when I started jumping that my position got so bad beacuse of the seat being to big I would even bump in the saddle when jumping or standing in the saddle 🙀

    from Washington as I definitely think my saddle might be too small for me as one mice like I started posting and practicing in my and I was hitting my my like 3rd point area hen posting and Number two I do like my butt is really high up on you say so like I’m almost at the end of the back of the saddle area so I think it’s to small

    I ride dressage. I have tried a number of saddles in the two years since I bought my horse and bought two, one after riding in the demo model for 3 months.I had one custom made for my matesshark-fin withers. They did add a panel behind to balance it, but I CANNOT keep my stirrups, my legs shoot forward, and no matter how I try to adjust myself, I end up in a chair seat. I was told it would settle and that I'd have to get used to it. I'm wondering if that's a reasonable expectation?

    • @canelami1285

      You paid $$$$ for a custom saddle and their answer is you'll have to get used to it? Oh no, that's not ok, in my opinion.

      No way! Thats not right and they need to fixit. It’s not really customized when it doesn’t work for you!

      This is most likely a saddle that they did not fully consider fitting to you and your pelvis and anatomy of your legs and where the stirrup bars need to be connected to the tree. You should check out the research on the female rider and saddle fit. Schleese saddlery has so many videos on this. Get your money back or reach out to Schleese and see if they can help you with your saddle or give you advice.

    I ride at a lesson barn english and beginning dressage the saddle they have for the horse was fitted for him but I feel it may be to small for me
    How do you get the best fit for the rider and horse?

    • @kmiklaszewski
      @kmiklaszewski 2 года назад

      Callie has videos with SCHLEESE SADDLERY on horseClass and you can check out Schleese Saddlery and SaddleFitForLife RUclips channel for amazing info. It’s the barn and your instructors joe to make sure the students/ riders also fit well in every saddle they ride in. YOU are paying them money to learn to ride and train horses correctly and if the saddle is too small, then you can’t get or maintain a correct position of your pelvis and rest of your body in the saddle and you skeletal alignment and store balance will be effected. Talk to who you can to see if something can be done and if you have to, you can research some videos and info to show them if you need to so you can show them that you did research the topic. If they are not willing to change anything then you know that they are not educated in this area and or don’t care too much for the well being or comfort of the horse with a rider in a saddle that is too small and interfering with the ability to ride correctly.
      Good luck

    Getting a good saddle fit at the big riding school I go to seems like it would be impossible. I'm pretty much the only man riding the school horses and I'm 185cm (6'1"), sharing saddles with kids. My knees usually stick too far forward and I compensate by lengthening the stirrups but probably too much. I would love to hear some tips from anyone on how to deal with this situation! I don't expect the school to cater for me, I'm just wondering how to make the best of the situation.

    • @kmiklaszewski
      @kmiklaszewski 2 года назад

      This situation bothers me so badly. I feel for you because you are there to learn and enjoy your time with the horse in and out of the saddle. You are paying this school or instructor money for a service and their educational and professionalism. Part of that should be making sure that all students are fitting in the saddles they ride in. It’s eo important for the rider because a saddle that is too small will only cause position, alignment and balance issues every time and it also causes discomfort to the horse because it causes do many issues and the rider’s inability to correctly or effectively/ efficiently use their body and apply or coordinate aids. I feel like you should have s conversation with whoever is in charge and can make decisions because ultimately YOU are paying them money and they are not doing right by you or the horse’s you ride when in the saddles that don’t fit you correctly. Maybe talk about o them about finding a saddle that fits larger and taller riders that is adjustable that can fit a few horses and larger riders. I know SCHLEESE SADDLERY has come out with new technology for a fully adjustable saddle that does not always require a saddle fitter to come out to adjust it. It would be an investment but worth it if it fits multiple horses and larger/ taller riders.
      Best of luck and I hope they can remedy this huge problem for you. Just lengthening the stirrups also causes more issues with balance and effectiveness of aids.

      @@kmiklaszewski Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately I know that it is common at the schools here in Norway for them not to use much time on tack. I think they must teach the kids the basics at some point but for me coming in at over 40 as a relative beginner I’m really left on my own to figure things out. Fortunately there are so many great RUclips channels to learn from!
      I happened to get a different horse yesterday at my lesson and his saddle fit was way better. I finally felt properly balanced in the stirrups and everything improved. I’ll definitely talk to the instructor about at least keeping me on that horse as much as possible.

    It always hurts below my pubic bone when I ride, if I do more than walk the horse. I have a hard time going to the bathroom for a couple days after a long trot. Is it something with my saddle?

    • @kmiklaszewski
      @kmiklaszewski 2 года назад

      That could definitely be a saddle fit problem. Callie and Schleese saddlery RUclips’s channel have some videos on saddle fit for the female pelvis/ rider that talk about these exact issues.
