or I can use a treeless saddle which completely bypasses all of these problems, there can certainly be other problems with them but with no tree you get less resistence and you get less weight in the saddle, it fits to any horses form

hi. A friends 15 year old male horse does not like to receive the saddle. She told me the saddle was made for this horse 10 years ago and used few. Can it be that its not fitting anymore because of physical changes in the horse?

Hi there. Yes, it is unlikely that the saddle still fits the horse. Saddles should be checked and adjusted at least twice a year and whenever there is a change in musculature, weight etc. We have a great online course that helps to guide you on the process if of interest:) www.equitopiacenter.com/online-courses/

What do I do if the saddle is shifting? Is it the girth not being tight enough?

How do I make sure I buy the right saddle without this mesuring and stuff?

You would contact a qualified saddle fitter. It is important to ask them the right questions - what qualifications they have, how long they have been in business, and address some of the points in this video or show some of the saddle fitting videos to them. Also, see how your horse reacts. Unfortunately, it can be quite difficult as there are a lot of poorly trained fitters who are not well versed in the biomechanics of horse movement.
