@MyGamingExperience one more thing, I'm still trying to work out the kinks cause its not really working. Its hard to tell if I'm looking at the same schematics as you because they have it laid out a little bit differently, but I think you got your long and short timers switched around.
I'm sorry for all the confusion, I just looked over it and in the video and I set the left timer to 180, which is incorrect. the left timer should be set to the water level you want in the planter, (i.e. 5000,) The right side timer should be set to 180. I'm really sorry for this mistake, I will be more diligent when using electricity in the future. You have a very good eye btw!
@@MyGamingExperience aha so it was the timers switched around! no biggie man the video overall was awesome, it was just that one bit where it was difficult to explain that threw us for a loop.
@@MyGamingExperience I think don't know how this circuit works. It maintains a level, not fills to a level. You need to calculate how much water you get after 1 min (60 seconds), if that amount is more than the plants consume, you need to find out the percentage difference, multiply that by like 3 minutes to get X, set left timer to that number and right timer to 180. So it will water X amount every 180 seconds. 2 sprinklers x 10 planters does not need this circuit. It distributes the perfect amount of water for berries & potatoes. Pull the 2 planters in the middle when you want to grow cloth or pumpkins. I would set 1 timer (by itself) to 7500 seconds to fill planters (no seeds) to around 5k water if that is your goal. You can wait 2 hours, or you can get jugs and do it in 1 min. All I do is farm and I really like the base design and content. I just want to make sure new farmers get the correct information. There is sprinkler math and it sucks.. TeaGuyTom & Sigbog made it simple. Happy farming!!!
Usually I fill it up first, and then use the circuit, it seems to keep the level I put in with this setup, with a little variation. Was I getting lucky with it working for me? You definitely know more about this stuff than me, so I pinned this conversation for people that will find this information valuable as well.
If you build 2 stories with grow rooms directly above each other, put the heaters against the ceiling on the first floor and the lights on the ceiling on the 2nd floor. The heaters cover both floors, and the lights will cover 2 floors. You will still need sprinklers for each floor, but you have power you can use elsewhere. I personally stick water barrels, sometimes I just get tired of listening to the pumps, water pumps (in a foundation triangle), fridges, and large batteries in the triangular honeycomb. I have also gambled and sealed a TC in a honeycomb if the offline raiding is particularly bad. With the updates to wiring and water catchers, you can literally build a farm anywhere on the map, and the only real give away is size and exposed water catchers. I have experimented with building full walls and leaving off the roof panels to disguise the catchers and solar panels, ymmv. Thank you for sharing, I'm already planning a variation for next wipe.
Is also possible to use some small water catchers on the roof if the base is not next to a river, you may have to do a trip to a river with many water jugs, let's say one for each planter, to start farming or hope for some rain or even log off for the night. Probably 6 small catchers, maybe even less, are enough for this base.
That's a good point. Usually I would pipe up water from the ocean or nearest water source, but sometimes it is not possible. The size of this farm is on the smaller side, so maybe it would be more efficient to use water catchers. Thanks
nice design, might try next wipe with a few tweaks. Also you can save power by placing your heaters higher. This way they actually work on the planters on that floor and the floor above. Also your water pump would be better in the base. Next wipe we have the ability to place pumps in a single triangle floor, should make it way easier to build into the base.
Thanks for watching! This heater trick is a great addition, thank you for letting me know about it, I can also use it in future designs! Are they making the pumps smaller hitboxes next wipe? I will say when I build farm bases, they are always in a compound, so I got used to putting them outside the base itself, in the future though I think I will try and build it into the base, its 100% a better approach. Thanks for all the feedback, hope to hear ya again soon!
@@MyGamingExperience thats for the reply. Aweosme it does save a lot of power with that little trick. Yes next wipe you will be able to place a water pump into a 1 triangle foundation whole.
I also use fridges as berry storage... old school. I place those fridges in the triangle honeycomb which you could put on the other side. This acts as additional walls and free's up a little room on the main side. Just a though
Only good thing about this base is TeaGuyTom's sprinkler setup, looking at this "automatic sprinkler" circuit i honestly want to throw up. Just so you know, if you toggle fluid switch not by "Toggle" input, but "Pump Power" for 2.7 seconds it's enough for a sprinkler to deliver water to planters, instead of normal 5 seconds. This is so much more efficient, since every sprinkler consumes 2 ml. of water at the start of every second, you have 6 ml. consumed each time sprinkler delivers, instead of normal 10
Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely be releasing more videos on the farm base designs, this layout can be expanded in multiple ways, and can become an absolute monster!
What's the chances your future videos have a print-screen list of all the items used for the build. ie: 1windmill 1large battery 2 this 4 that? Would really help with the 1 craft and build session, instead of multi trips and video pausing in between. (because I know we all forgot that 1 extra branch). Great content you provide.
I'm here for the farm setup, not so much the base, thanks very much, also that is a nice efficient base, not strong but efficient, I'm not sure it'd last long though if there was a raid attempt!, I'm going to design something later on when I have time, thank you.
Can you please explain why you have the second timer set to 5000? I know you said that's how much water you want in your planters, but doesn't that just make the sprinklers run for ~80 minutes straight? Other videos I have seen run their sprinklers in intervals of roughly 'on for 10 seconds, off for 5 seconds' 24/7. I was curious as to what makes this system stronger than the other ones on RUclips.
Hey man really good build like the layout and how it looks I’ll definitely give it a shot but I’ll have to make it a bit bigger we need 60 planter boxes at least I really think this could work
I'm happy you like the design! These can be built much much bigger, the size limiter in this video is using only 1 pump. There are other size limiters in the game that allow for much bigger farms, I hope to make a video on this soon! 60 planters is exactly 3 of these modules so it should be pretty efficient to use this planter box setup as well! Let me know how it works for ya!
You are right, the water pump outside is a serious defect, when I make the video on a bigger version of this base I will include a pump house to make sure it is inside. Thank you for the feedback!
I have to dissagree with the heater placement. The way you can achieve 100% temperature in snow with just 2 heaters would be: Place 1 low wall on either side of the middle square with planters in the middle (not connected to outer walls aka freestanding) from there place 1 heater on the inside side of the lowwall with about a 20% gap to the end of the wall. This will make all planters recieve 100% temperature.
I will test this out in my test server and if that works, It is an absolutely amazing change that I will use from here on out. I have trouble finding non symmetric solutions to such layouts, so this would have been hard for me to find on my own, thank you very much
Is that a smart switch you are using for the power to the auto circuit? If so is there any reason you need a smart switch can you just use a manual switch?
Damn, I thought I saw nice pun, but my eyes decieved me. At 00:33 I thought he wrote "moist effecient layout", because he was showing the sprinkler and stuff...
Thanks! The amount of water each sprinkler puts out and using those numbers in the timers gives you 5000 water in the planters. I don't have the exact equation that the game uses, but it does work out some how :)
Built this base 5 times. 4/5 times they went through the roof, making the turrets basically pointless. The 1 time they went straight to the TC in the one wall left for TC defense. This is an "efficient" berry base, but not secure at all. Too easy to raid and turret replacements probably need to be on the opposite side of the room to take care of the guys coming from the roof. I would not recommend anyone waste time building this to the exact specs. Move turrets, build some extra TC defense, and maybe even add 2 turrets to the roof and then it will be in better shape. So far, this has been an easy target for raiders.
There is some equation that makes it so putting 180 and X into the timers, results in X amount of water being in the planters. I haven't seen the exact equation, but I assume its something with how much water per minute the sprinklers put in 5 planters, and then the timers slow it down to half in this case
the fridges are just to hold clones and berries for overflow storage, the circuit is designed to maintain a certain water level given the amount of planters, but I am learning right now that this is much more complex than I originally knew. If you fill up the planters to half way, I have used this circuit and it maintains the 5000 water.
