Don and Phil Everly and Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were the dynamic duos to America just as Chad Stewart and Jeremy Clyde and Peter Asher and Gordon Waller were to Britain.
Oh, this is exactly the day my father was born. August 20th, 1971. He was only 49 when he died last September. He used to sing Everly Brothers songs to me.
In 1971 i was a teenager only 16 yrs old then! And my oldest sister i just lost in September 2020. Sorry for both our lose!💐🥀 and now both the Everly Brothers are gone! May they all ( RIP) amen💒⛪⛪⛪🌈 😎🎸😎🎸
Hi Ma Victoria Vargas The passing of our parents is so very heartbreaking I hope and pray you are doing OK during this difficult. Stay safe, healthy and happy. God bless you
Hear those interviews? Those are good old American values. Both those boys stopped their careers too join the service to our country. God bless them. We miss you Phil, you were an excellent human being. Don, please stay healthy, we still love you.
They joined up to avoid being drafted and thus doing less time if they enlisted, the same as thousands of other people. They could have easily done what most famous people do and have an imaginary medical history made up and presented to the draft board
@@adrinathegreat3095 I don't think anyone but the 2 of them knew why the joined up. I wouldn't be so rude to pretend to. But I know they loved their country because I have heard them say so many times.
Yes, they loved their country. However, they joined the Marine Reserves because their enlistment would be three months rather than two years regular service. At least that what's Phil said. Don't know what about Dons opinion.
@@theresabollman8061 they've stated that was why they enlisted, that's a fact. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, they could have easily avoided the draft, most singers and actor's of the time did, that's why so few ever served. It was generally looked upon as something the working class did as they were expendable. So at least they did sign up
Holy crap!!!! I just discovered this channel due to enjoying the Everly Brothers music for most of my life. This concert titles Hippies with Money is absolutely incredible especially the new sound the brothers picked up and sounds great by todays standards. Ive always pictured the Everly Brothers with their 50’s and early 60’s look, but boy did they move with the times. Thanks for posting and excellent concert
I saw this show and the following morning I was working out at Sydney airport for TAA. I was located at one of the departure lounges, the morning rush had past and I was looking out at the tarmac singing a song from the previous night, sensed a passenger wanted to check in , turned around and Don and another man were at the counter. Phil was behind them. They looked at me , I mumbled "tickets please" and served them. Foolish boy ! Never mentioned that I was a great fan.

Ian I've seen them live countless times between 1963 until their penultimate final concert at Royal Albert Hall in 2005 held a day or two before Ipswich on their last (UK) tour.Their live singing was invariably brilliant as with this wonderful concert.
Wow!!!! Honkey tonk woman....Don was superb singing this. He could sing anything and just blow your mind, and Phil with that guitar phew! that man could move with that thing.
I loved this show, it felt almost like being there when I was watching. The title - Hippies with Money is interesting. I remember Don saying they had a hard time in the late sixties in America as they were seen older and as part of the establishment. Anyone over 30 was not to be trusted according to the hippies of the time. Don turned 30 in 1967 and Phil in 1969. Ridiculous as the Everly’s were so amazing during this time and sadly under appreciated by American audiences.
I quite agree. I also deplore US people's unjust treatments for them, knowing that EB's musical quality (n looks too!!) in this era seems so brilliant.

What can one say about the Everly's that hasn't already been said a million times previously? While grateful for the presentation of the above concert footage I really do wish that the entire TV Special "Hippies With Money" was available for viewing. Why only half of the show?. Where's the other half? In the missing segment Don and Phil do a beautiful, soulful rendition of Merle Haggard's Sing Me Back Home as well as several more of their own hits. Yes, I know that the missing segment is available in audio (which is at least something) but let's keep trying for the video, folks!
Don Everly just passed away of natural causes at 84. I just heard the news. Anyone notice how they didn't push their politics down anyone's throats on stage, like today's obnoxious, self-absorbed "look at me, I care" celebrities we have today. It was always about the music. The music. Not them. God, how refreshing to see how it once was.
