I work in warranty repairs for Lenovo and HP laptops and Desktops. I tell you, the amount of times I held my breath everything I ordered a new screen or motherboard. Sometimes you can wait up to a minute before seeing a display. And yes, I can confirm that broken screens can often cause backlight issues. Before you even suggested it, I had already predicted a backlighter filter near the LVDS connector. Good stuff man. Big fan from Fiji. 🇫🇯 I watch your repair videos while I work on repairs myself. I'm no where near your level of troubleshooting and repairs but I'm learning and working on my own stuff like repairing old headphones and gaming controllers.
Can you please advise which brand to go for i am really confused Should i go for Dell or HP or MSI. I have seen alot Asus laptop with issues especially on this channel therefore they are out. But i was a precision user in the past and man that thing was tank.
Notice as u try old screen it took longer than expectations to start. So I believe the new screen just wasn't given long enough time to post🤷🏼 Excellent job 👏
@@Hogwarts.Failure yes, the external monitor worked but it took sometime for the display to come out, same for the old defective lcd. with their first try, with the new lcd it is possible that there is a lose connection only or connector was not plugged properly that is why it has no display and there was a display on the external monitor.
I hold my breath watching your repair videos. They are really thrilling. I learn a lot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Stay blessed.
New laptops and desktops take a very long time when the Cmos is cleared, it wasn't the case before, it's like their post test is very slow especially when they load the bios with so many features
I'm watching your videos like a TV series. These videos are so addictive. Can you do a video about your troubleshooting steps. I'm a software eng but I like to repair items on my own.
In this check 1/ filter 2 fuse 18v 3/ signal power 3,3v 4/power on voltage 3.3v ... Dont disconnect screen it is power adapter its plag on pc or battery... Manu lines connect stait on GPU and IO .. if accident in time to colect or disconnect screen below up the GPU or IO ( gpu is grafics cart ) sorry for my English.... Notting Fix you have magic hands you are the only Chanel to see ol video's 2 and 3 time's and check fo not lost video's...you are the reason to i am stey on RUclips only yours videos i see
When i change my HP laptop screen take around about 5 minuts to show image and several restarts. I change from 720 to full HD screen and everything was ok. Great video.
People who don't know to disconnect a battery first yet feel confident they can replace laptop screens.. I have built many of my own desktop PC's and would not attempt a screen replacement myself, you just know something will break or you do something wrong that some youtube guide 'forgot' to mention.
Someone not knowing how to build a desktop PC could say the same. You need the (over)confidence to try new things otherwise you never learn anything. Maybe just be prepared to break a few things along the way :)
when you power on the laptop at the first time I was take to you on my mind :: stop saying that it's not enough time to judge on the new screen and when you put the old one I was saying : now you know that you have to be more patient 😅 you have the best channel on my youtube account since more than two years الله يوفقك ويرزقك ويياركلك
so its big boss episode.. :) big boss is so great to fix the laptop! :) more powers to our channel!! always watching your videos here from the philippines!

Hey, Alex whats the name of the chair you are using I m looking to buy a new chair and I know you bought something that does not give you backpain after such long session of repairs. Thanks in advance.
great video Alex ..........great to see big boss.... i wish you/he could make a video of dismantling things ..I know maybe its boring for some but for me its interesting ...Maybe a shop flow one day ????? also your dad make video ....
EDP display when you change the panel with another part number or manufacturer. try to power on for just 2-5 minutes and force shutdown and turn it on again I'm solving this in my Lenovo x260 FHD IPS panel upgrade
Hello, working on a laptop (MSI GS75 9SG-242US) and after replacing the screen and forgetting to disconnect battery prior I have no indications of power anywhere. It was working perfectly fine prior to the screen removal and replacement. Checked the motherboard PCB near the LCD conectors and didn't really see any indications of damaged surface mounted components but haven't looked under a microscope yet. Battery light isn't turning on when plugged in and pressing the button does absolutely nothing regardless of being on battery power of AC adapter power. Voltage at power adapter is around 20V as expected, battery doesn't seem to have any voltage after taking my voltmeter to it, so possibly the battery could've have just coincidentally die but I'm unsure at the moment without a replacement laying around. Also likely I can't read the battery voltage properly given the control circuitry usually involved with these things. I've tried disconnecting everything (including CMOS) and removing the motherboard PCB before reassembling after a few hours to give the system time to reset but that hasn't accomplished anything. Anything I should specifically looking for that I might have missed at this point? I'm finding it hard to believe MSI really manufactures their screens in such a way that they will damage other components if you leave the battery connected while replacing it. I was pretty careful with the removal of the connector and installing into the new screen. Like it shouldn't even have power provided to any of the pins until the machine is turn on anyways right?
its possible there is a problem with the lvds cable or some sort of protection circuits was having issues but wow 3 fans my gaming laptop has only 2 fans
When big boss was removing new screen to old screen, I didn't see him disconnecting and reconnecting battery? Is that part in video was clipped? Or battery was disconnected all this time and testing was done on AC adapter only?
Late display. as once you disconnect the battery it restarts 2 time on first power ON. you didn't wait enough when first time new screen was connected.
Hello, I have a MSI Raider GE76 12UH I recently got the LCD replaced after the hinge snapped and screen went black along with the LCD the motherboard also got replaced, but sents then the laptop will not power on, charge, or show no signs of receiving power at all. All the normal troubleshooting has been done and still nothing. Do you have any ideas? MSI is giving me the runaround and I desperately need the laptop for college.
My msi gf63 thin 9sc doesnt turn on immediately and take multiple tries to turn on. When i turn it on, it will go off and i have to wait like 10 minutes for me to try and turn it on. How can i fix it
My laptop is dead after i plugged 30pin edp cable instead of 40pin edp cable. The battery charges but no power. laptop is Xiaomi Mi gaming laptop 15 who has a unfindable 40 edp cable monitor. i tried the 30 pin version.
about the screen... what happened is impossible so i checked the video again the broken screen is the donor one because it has no sticker on it there is no way that an obviously broken screen would work magically :D
I had customer asus laptop with no backlight. After i check all the component with multimeter nothing is wrong. I assemble it again then the laptop is working. I don't know what happened but it's fixed itself
People should not try to fix things themselves because equipment is delicate and requires expertise. Leave the work for the professional s. You might cause more damage trying to fix it yourself.

i've noticed that too with some newer machines, they turn on and display nothing for a minute, sometimes they restart before actually displaying.
Can you please advise which brand to go for i am really confused Should i go for Dell or HP or MSI. I have seen alot Asus laptop with issues especially on this channel therefore they are out. But i was a precision user in the past and man that thing was tank.

Excellent job 👏
Big Boss did a good job. 😎
Another successful repair.
Everytime you remove the battery and reinstall it, it will take time to boot because there is no separate bios battery.
I agree with
U need to wait for some time
👍
agreed. my msi laptop also do the same

Nice work from both of you. And without the problems of the screenconnector, it was really a quick fix.
Thank you for the video, greets
That's the reason why it is necessary to pull out all major energy sources such as batteries and charging adapters before replacing the screen.
I'm not even understand what you're saying, but I love watching your videos
Congrats on the new record for fixing a gaming laptop ;)
so its big boss episode.. :) big boss is so great to fix the laptop! :) more powers to our channel!! always watching your videos here from the philippines!

Is a filter and a capacitor the same thing ?.
a filter acts like a fuse, it's continuous when it is good
but i don't know the differences between a filter and a fuse
MSI: I don't wanna display..

Sometimes the LVDS connector seems properly seated, and you have no imagem, you remove it and reinsert and it works, go figure.
People should not try to fix things themselves because equipment is delicate and requires expertise. Leave the work for the professional s. You might cause more damage trying to fix it yourself.
