@@woksolid6885 it depends on the person. I've had acquaintances who can't shut up about their headcannons and their ships. But you are right for the most part. Most people don't go out of their way to tell you they want two characters from their favorite media source to bang. However I was exposed to a few people who did. And it got annoying fast. I just can't help but remember the tedium of having to listen to them constantly writing, and reciting, gross fanfiction. And I just struggle to find a point in it all.

Well I think someone could make a documentary about a 13 year old boy who has moved from overwatch to fortnite and now I really hate to say it... Valorant, and has now become the true bubble of toxin he is foretold to be.

SimplySam What annoys me about the comics is that they don't go into much depth of the characters besides their predictable character traits. There isn't substance being added to the characters besides being dark and edgy. In the TF2 comics we learn the ethics, motivations and just more to the cast. Spy pretends to be a professional when he gets emotionally attached while attempting to keep himself distant. (Like how Spy is basically the leader of the mercs, supportive to Miss Pauling and helped Scout for his date). The Roadhog comic. He has a jaded perception of the greater world and got in a bar fight...
I’ve seen this already when it came out, and it just appeared in my recommendations again, and when Scott mentioned League of Legends toxicity lowering I had a sudden flashback. My first time playing League was at a friends house who didn’t really teach me anything about it and I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Someone in chat said “what’s wukong doing down there?” And I was upfront and responded “first time player, no idea what the fuck” and my team started coaching me in the simplest of terms. “Follow me” “tag in when I turn around” “warp back and upgrade” and even though we lost horribly they still said “nice first attempt, had fun.” Like.... before that day, I was scared to even think about what a chat with randos would be. And they turned out to be super cool and understanding. And I know that’s not the entire community, but that’s how a community should behave.
The same happens every now and then in tf2 matches, I’ve found a lot of new players and when I’m able to, I try to teach them stuff. I’ve taught new players to rocket jump, to disguise and turn invisible, to taunt and join group taunts(aka the whole server is dancing), to aim for the floor when playing soldier for that juicy splash damage, and to prioritize healing over damaging when playing medic. It’s a wholesome experience, although there is always toxic people that are like “oH nEw PlAyErS hOw SuPiD hAhA tRaSh UnInStAlL” The first time I saw one of those was when I was still a new player, I couldn’t even talk in chat, I saw that and said to myself, that I would never let one of those guys make a new player quit, and it’s worked so far. I’ve also taught them some of the ever living memes like Hightower and 2Fort, and some other stuff like trolldier and hoovy, and pyroshark and gunspy, etc
Soldier_66 it makes me laugh when overwatch fans say, “get good”. As if overwatch takes any modicum of skill to play. I’ll tell you something, it’s a lot harder to get good at Halo or counter strike thank to get good at overwatch.

At least the game was done. Sure it had a long development but the game was clean and only patched pieces that actually needed patching, also the creators of chess never had to deal with crunch culture. Other game devs need to learn from chess

I'm not. I didn't really like Overwatch when it came out, but I didn't hate on anyone for playing it or doing videos on it. What I hated was how much it seemed to be getting to people. Every month, it made everyone a little more controversial, a little more salty about everything to do with it. I just didn't want Scott to be stuck in that pit forever.
Overwatch is quite possibly my favorite game but I can understand why someone would potentially not want to play that game due to issues like toxicity and hate. So props to you for being honest and doing what makes you happy and not what other people force you to do:)

Oh boy, this is a REAL side of salt. This was the type of content I was expecting when I first saw this series. Honestly I'm surprised some of these points you have developed later, for most longtime FPS players it was pretty obvious of OW's glaring gameplay issues. Even though I don't really play OW anymore, I can respect it for what it is and I feel some of your criticism is really just your frustration from being pressured by the fans giving you a lot of negativity. Totally fine with the choice of moving on to other content though as the saying goes "Do what makes you happy." I enjoy your animations and interesting opinions on the topics shared though a lot of the times I would disagree.

What’s sad is this is neither the first nor last time. A lot of “I mean this is good but...” media gets that “but” from its community. Undertale: Great game. Ruined by the community. Steven Universe: I personally think the show is good. Ruined by the community. I’m sure there’s others but I can’t think of them to save my life. People don’t know when to tone back the fanaticism. Me included but making a mistake allows you to see it better I guess. But getting so fanatical is what leads to rifts and eventually flaming. Unfortunately for Overwatch: there’s no way to enjoy it without partaking in what’s become of its community.
Because there's always a couple heroes that everyone plays because it's basically required to win, and then there's the heroes who's position in the meta is constantly changing because the devs can't balance for shit.

So, as a new dawn begins for this channel, I hope you learn from this experience as a content creator, and remember to not lock yourself to one topic or idea; the only group you should pander towards is yourself. It really is. I don’t see the reason to be toxic. Like, screaming is normal because your into it and your having fun. Lane Tipton I stopped enjoying watching the "Overwatch Side of Salt" videos when I realized he stopped enjoying making them. As Jason Sudeikis in Always Sunny said "We're not having fun watching it cuz you're not having fun doing it, buddy" Scott put minimal effort into his Overwatch SoS videos and it really showed. Not out of any sort of "Are you even trying?" kinda of sentiment but as in a "This has become a chore and you're just trying to crank them out to feed your audience" kind of way. It's always disappointing to see an audience's viciousness evolve into a lack of enthusiasm for the creator. Why have toxic communities been so frequent these past few years? I've seen so many youtubers who had to stop doing work on games because of the fanbase barraging them. I understand that with ScottFalco it's more because he doesn't like it now, and he definitely has that right, but time and time again more communities turn on the creators, asking for more (like there isn't that much of it out there already). My only hope is that it doesn't get any worse next year.

Because comunities grew bigger , a lot of people is toxic , and toxic people .Also confirmation bias is a thing and people can't react properly to high amounts of people , so the bigger the amount of people , the smaller portion of that people has to be toxic for the community to feel toxic as a whole, since you get that felling by number of toxic comments you receive. Feelings are calibrated for dumbar number sized groups of people.
you know.. alot of youtubers THEMSELVES are toxic, especially streaming, probably to *make money* greedy people is everywhere, and toxic people.. I have zero clue why they're so toxic, games are called *_entertainment_* , instead it turned into the source of stress. which is why I enjoy games with friends or singleplayer games/non coop reliant games more than coop games with competitive modes..
Because most decent people don't see a reason for talking in videogames while toxic fucks don't know how to shut up. the more people you get the more toxic it will get, that simple.
Personally, I love the game (as you can see by my profile pic), but I can more than agree with all of your points. The game definitely isn't for everyone, and the community is pretty garbage most of the time. I'm glad you aren't continuing to do something you don't like just because people want you too, because that isn't how good content is made.

I'm trash, my aim is trash, my skill is trash, and the only good thing I've ever done as Junkrat was boosting a Mercy over a wall so she could get a quad res. And while I initially disagreed with your opinion, I realized that I had an opinion as well, and that we're both entitled to think what we want. as a bastion player that fell out of the scene months after it released i noticed that OverWatch gained a lot of people that had the mindset of that which is usually from after a DLC character release from a fighter of "HE/SHE TOO GOOD PLZ NERF" when all they needed was to learn the character in OW's deceptively flank-able maps. But no, charging straight in is gonna work this time. then i get the quad kill and get called dumb. As Bastion i knew he was easy and used him for both Attack and Defense and carried the team like 9 out of 10 times because i set up in places that was hard to either notice, get to, or to hit. ya know, like how a real turret should be setup. i learned his weaks and his strengths and got pretty good and then the complaints happen from being called unfair or camper or some other nomenclature BS it was pretty much the worst experience I had in a shooter. No body wants to get insulted because they learned how to effectively beat the game right? i do agree with your Bastion SOS in the fact that he's easy for big damage but he lacks so much mobility and is more squishy because of that. I love your new SOS's now because i can hear the love you put in them so you keep doing you and i will fully support that
yeah im having an issue with the same thing im a rein main and yes im messing up a bit but when you have to rely on pushing with the team and your team don't do their job then it forces a loss and it just feels crap. i still enjoy the game thought and i respect falcos stance on it but i do have to agree the community is increidbly annoying sometimes
People always complain about how tf2 sucks and Overwatch is better, but I find myself enjoying the characters, gameplay, and especially the community of tf2 a lot more. It's a shame, Overwatch had a lot going for it, yet it's downfall were due to it's fans.

SimplySam What annoys me about the comics is that they don't go into much depth of the characters besides their predictable character traits. There isn't substance being added to the characters besides being dark and edgy.
In the TF2 comics we learn the ethics, motivations and just more to the cast. Spy pretends to be a professional when he gets emotionally attached while attempting to keep himself distant. (Like how Spy is basically the leader of the mercs, supportive to Miss Pauling and helped Scout for his date).

I’ve seen this already when it came out, and it just appeared in my recommendations again, and when Scott mentioned League of Legends toxicity lowering I had a sudden flashback. My first time playing League was at a friends house who didn’t really teach me anything about it and I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Someone in chat said “what’s wukong doing down there?” And I was upfront and responded “first time player, no idea what the fuck” and my team started coaching me in the simplest of terms. “Follow me” “tag in when I turn around” “warp back and upgrade” and even though we lost horribly they still said “nice first attempt, had fun.” Like.... before that day, I was scared to even think about what a chat with randos would be. And they turned out to be super cool and understanding. And I know that’s not the entire community, but that’s how a community should behave.
The same happens every now and then in tf2 matches, I’ve found a lot of new players and when I’m able to, I try to teach them stuff. I’ve taught new players to rocket jump, to disguise and turn invisible, to taunt and join group taunts(aka the whole server is dancing), to aim for the floor when playing soldier for that juicy splash damage, and to prioritize healing over damaging when playing medic. It’s a wholesome experience, although there is always toxic people that are like “oH nEw PlAyErS hOw SuPiD hAhA tRaSh UnInStAlL”
The first time I saw one of those was when I was still a new player, I couldn’t even talk in chat, I saw that and said to myself, that I would never let one of those guys make a new player quit, and it’s worked so far. I’ve also taught them some of the ever living memes like Hightower and 2Fort, and some other stuff like trolldier and hoovy, and pyroshark and gunspy, etc
yeah, people like to forget that they were once newbies too.

Why have toxic communities been so frequent these past few years? I've seen so many youtubers who had to stop doing work on games because of the fanbase barraging them. I understand that with ScottFalco it's more because he doesn't like it now, and he definitely has that right, but time and time again more communities turn on the creators, asking for more (like there isn't that much of it out there already). My only hope is that it doesn't get any worse next year.

Because comunities grew bigger , a lot of people is toxic , and toxic people .Also confirmation bias is a thing and people can't react properly to high amounts of people , so the bigger the amount of people , the smaller portion of that people has to be toxic for the community to feel toxic as a whole, since you get that felling by number of toxic comments you receive. Personally, I love the game (as you can see by my profile pic), but I can more than agree with all of your points. The game definitely isn't for everyone, and the community is pretty garbage most of the time. I'm glad you aren't continuing to do something you don't like just because people want you too, because that isn't how good content is made.

I have quite a few weeks played as Junkrat, and let me tell you: You're absolutely right. I'm trash, my aim is trash, my skill is trash, and the only good thing I've ever done as Junkrat was boosting a Mercy over a wall so she could get a quad res. And while I initially disagreed with your opinion, I realized that I had an opinion as well, and that we're both entitled to think what we want. All in all, I'm sad to see Overwatch w/ a Side of Salt go, because it truly made me laugh. Good luck, happy trails, and have fun, you magnificent bastard.

Jeez bro, you don't have to put yourself down just because he said that Junkrat takes no skill. I'll admit, he is one of the easier characters to play (not saying that the other heroes are very hard either) but doesn't mean you can't get better

as a bastion player that fell out of the scene months after it released i noticed that OverWatch gained a lot of people that had the mindset of that which is usually from after a DLC character release from a fighter of "HE/SHE TOO GOOD PLZ NERF" when all they needed was to learn the character in OW's deceptively flank-able maps. But no, charging straight in is gonna work this time. then i get the quad kill and get called dumb.
As Bastion i knew he was easy and used him for both Attack and Defense and carried the team like 9 out of 10 times because i set up in places that was hard to either notice, get to, or to hit. ya know, like how a real turret should be setup. i learned his weaks and his strengths and got pretty good and then the complaints happen from being called unfair or camper or some other nomenclature BS
it was pretty much the worst experience I had in a shooter. No body wants to get insulted because they learned how to effectively beat the game right?
i do agree with your Bastion SOS in the fact that he's easy for big damage but he lacks so much mobility and is more squishy because of that.

yeah im having an issue with the same thing im a rein main and yes im messing up a bit but when you have to rely on pushing with the team and your team don't do their job then it forces a loss and it just feels crap. i still enjoy the game thought and i respect falcos stance on it but i do have to agree the community is increidbly annoying sometimes
People always complain about how tf2 sucks and Overwatch is better, but I find myself enjoying the characters, gameplay, and especially the community of tf2 a lot more. It's a shame, Overwatch had a lot going for it, yet it's downfall were due to it's fans.

Not to mention, yes, tf2 is also lgbtq friendly, as we have no idea what the fuck the pyros gender is.
