Absolute win!! So happy for your success dude, and thanks for showing us your diagnostic journey. Funny thing is, just last week my fz6 started throwing intermittent error 33 codes. (Ignition coil malfunction) its thanks to your videos that I know I can't fully rely on resistance testing the coils.

Thank you so much for going through the trouble of sorting the misfire and at the same time share it with us. This is by far the best videos of fz6 that I have come across. Will try swapping the coils and keep fingers crossed. FIY, I am having exactly the same issue as you.

Hi Cal. Been watching your vids for a while....awesome! So glad you fixed the misfire problem. You must be relieved and falling in love with this great bike even more now. I just clicked over 65,000km on my 2008 FZ6S S2 and still love her as much as the day I wheeled her our of the showroom! Glad you are showing us all how to keep the old girl running smoothly. Cheers from Australia.

Thank you for the video. My 06 sounds exactly like yours with the random misfire at idle. I’ve suspected electrical since it is worse in the heat, just haven’t spent more time than ordering some plugs for it. This will give me a good path to follow.

I am having same problem with my 2004 FZ6 , did all the coil test too. Well 2004 is 18 years old, the coils some do break down. So guess I will try coil replacement. Thanks for sharing your videos. Very helpful 👍

Awesome video! Just bought a 05 fz6 and it had the same exact problem. Coils were the solution for me too

I just checked my valves and after putting everything together the bike has a misfire. Pretty upset about it, thankfully its winter and Ive got months to figure it out. Triple checked all coil connections and cable order. All cyls have spark at wires, I'll go ahead and replace the plugs and see if that does it. Its got to be a damn coil or plug, because I looked at it wrong. Istg nothing ever goes smoothly, Im trying to be as thorough as possible doing work on the bike and its clowning on me. Doing the fork seals was a shit show too, the steel tube was stuck like crazy in the bottom tube, though I was going to break something. The stuck spacer was literally submerged in oil but still didnt budge without lethal gorilla warfare. The other fork went smoothly as intended by satan, first the stuck one to have me wondering if Im doing it wrong, then the easy one.

called it on the coils! very frustrating issue that happened exactly the same for me. Seems to be a fz6 specific thing

  • @MrAmorti

The misfire on my 2004 fz6 turned out to be a bad throttle position sensor. Yamaha had an outstanding recall for that, and the dealer replaced it free of charge!

I've replaced mine with used ignition coil from 2013 fz6r it falls within the original spec.

You're a true asset to the FZ6 community. Random question: Do you play D&D?

  • @ChenChen-ss6rn

I'm experiencing the same thing now, can anyone help me find the coil. because I'm in Cambodia and buying from eBay can't be sent to Cambodia😢
