I just visited a "GameStop Retro" in Attleboro MA and was pretty surprised at what they had. Of course they had shelves full of Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 jank but had some SNES, Genesis, and a good amount of NES behind a glass case. The top shelf of the glass case had a crap ton of GB, GBA, and NDS games. They also had few older consoles.
Definitely a better showing of retro stuff than what the close to me "Gamestop Retro" has.

I've been to two of the "Retro Gamestop" locations. Two observations came from my visits in the state of Arizona.
    1. The staff were still not kind to me. Idk what it is but every gamestop I've been to, the staff just don't feel like being kind.
    2. Their "retro" was a wall or few shelves of retro items. Some items were in cases.
My take away: I see some effort into providing "retro" items for their customers but I prefer the mom and pop shops that go the extra mile and make it a nostalgic experience for me when I enter and purchase from a retro gaming store.

They’re going to get a ton of fakes brought in so hopefully they train them well and test everything because there will definitely be people trying to rip them off. Even to the point where they get a fake cartridge and put the board from a cheap real game in it from a sports game or something.

Getting into retro games is definitely the right move for game stop but they need to go full send to make it work. New physical games are dying and I would not be surprised if Xbox is done with consoles. Frankly, I think they should get into selling gaming PCs and accessories too.

    • @BlakeBickerstaff

@@HoLeeFuk317 they have actually been selling gaming PC accessories there for awhile. I do agree with you that the move for game stop was the inevitable choice to move in the retro direction, as digital media seems to be the move for most console based companies. I think there is a conspiracy going against gamestop tbh, resellers hate gamestop because theyre competition, they criticize how much money they give you for your games as if a lot of resellers don't lowball people that don't know what they have, also gamestop sells games for below market value. Resellers hate gamestop unless theyre buying from them so they can flip games. They want the stigma against gamestop to remain so they can get all the good deals.

    • @p0ck3tp3ar

@@p0ck3tp3arso the customer getting a deal = workers getting ripped off
so we should pay top dollar to get the same game from a reseller who buys their stuff dirt cheap locally and also sometimes from eBay, GameStop, and other marketplaces because they make more money ripping off the customer????
      great logic
I'm sure people wouldn't work at GameStop if the pay wasn't good enough for them. Take it easy on the mental gymnastics there.

    • @p0ck3tp3ar
      @p0ck3tp3ar 2 месяца назад

@@putridabomination Mental Gymnastics aka someone far more educated than you on the topic. Let me dumb it down so you can understand.
Gamestop pays lower than many resellers and take advantage of people that don't know the value of what they have. That's the only way they can sell things below market.
Meanwhile resellers come in all shapes and sizes, many do what Gamestop does, others pay FAR more than them. It would be moronic to think that all resellers are the same. Resellers are often open to negotiation and sell things at around 80% market all the time. Many of these items are tested and actually authentic and tax free.
Also, nothing I said has anything to do with people working at Gamestop. Maybe try reading again with your eyes open.
Lastly, way to go supporting industry giants and contributing to the future enslavement of humanity where we will all be working for corporate bosses and all the little guys will be long gone.

If nothing else the brand notoriety will bring some non-collector casuals out of the woodwork who might have games stored on their property but aren't actually their games. I'd love a retro store near me. Do have a GameStop nearby that is on the retro list, but I've not been in a GameStop since 2012. Had a game paid off on pre-order, but the location closed. Pre-orders moved to another store nearby, but since I didn't keep my receipt as proof, they said I only had $5 on it. Apparently this is a very common issue when they move pre-orders. Was also not a fan when they closed my local store, but gave the employees a 5-day notice that they were out of jobs. I don't think GameStop can do anything to get me to shop from them again.
