Totally agree. There's a massive hole in the market for these. Those who have released helmets have tried charging WAY too much money. A Rokoko headrig (at the right price) would be extremely popular.
We also agree Fernando and Carder! It's crazy how there aren't any viable options for this - hopefully in the future we'll be able to offer some sort of hardware, but currently we don't have any offering other than our chest mount. I use a combination of the chest mount, and a very jury-rigged setup where I zip-tie a selfie stick to a bicycle helmet - works pretty good! Just remember to counterweight the phone!
Rokoko Vision will not capture your face, but you can use the body mount with our Facial Capture app. You can record with the hardware as separate scenes and merge them into another tool. However, stay tuned as we will continue to make improvements.
Thank you Sam for this tutorial! I hope this time my iPhone mount won't flop like how I had it set up before (I did a weird way of mounting). UPDATE: I now love the darn thing.
Doesn't it get in the way when you're trying to do motions like throwing punches, casting magic spells or walking on point with a gun? That's all standard video game/action movie stuff which you'd think mocap is most useful for. One's arm motion would be restricted but also your face would be blocked from being captured by the camera.
It does! But, it is also good at other things - it's really a question of what you need it. Some people love it, but some people just jury-rig a bike helmet with a selfie stick and that will work too!
Good rigging and shapekeys are key, try to copy the 52 shapekeys of apple, a bad model should be the only reason it does not look nice, I use an iPhone XR (minimum required), while the latest iPhone may provide some better performance, the results will NOT improve from a better phone.
What happens if you look sideways and don't turn your chest, or if your character is pointing a gun?
Am from Nigeria, where can i get this to buy??
Thanks Sam! Will you also be developing a facial capture helmet? Do that the arms and hands aren't blocked in their movement?

While we can't reveal too much just yet, we're looking into it! :)
It works with rokoko vision dual camera? Or the body mount can afflict the performance?

why your face mocap is so good?)
Using an iPhone X or above and good rigging on your 3d model
