Springfield just made a Double Stacked 1911 chambered in 9mm.
I was born and raised in the south, and in the south, we call all soft drinks "COKE", all tissues Kleenex, and all bandages Band-AIDs.
Many people in the gun world tend to call any double stack 9mm 1911 a 2011.
    But that's not technically correct.
    That's because all 2011s are essentially double-stacked 1911s, but not all double-stack 1911s are 2011s.
There are two versions of the Prodigy:
A 4.25" Forged Stainless Steel, Match Grade, Bull Barrel
    and
A 5" Forged Stainless Steel, Match Grade, Bull Barrel.
Everything else is exactly the same.
Same grip and a grip length, same Forged Carbon Steel frame, the same Forged Carbon Steel Slide that is optics ready, same 2 Piece Full-Length Guide Rod, and they both come with one 17 Round and 20 Round Magazine.
Also, I am just launching 2 NEW Products.
First, my NEW Colion Noir Edition In-Ear Hearing Protection!
Once you wear these, you’ll immediately feel the difference with SUPERIOR comfort and enhanced situational awareness.
The comfort feels like custom-fit protection and is easily worn for hours without constantly falling out.
They feature 6x SOUND AMPLIFICATION, Fast Attack Time, & NRR 29 Rated

I'm still a firm believer that if Gaston Glock were alive in the early 1900's, nobody would know what a 1911 was. With that said, they ARE very well built, time and torture tested, and keep improving with age. Unfortunately, the $1500 price tag is a huge turn-off.

    • @PaulAmerican
      @PaulAmerican Год назад +5

@@nitrojunkie22 they have a 1500 price tag because they are for the decor now.
Most countries use hammer fire steel framed pistols still. Philippines still use 1911s. A couple years ago the US Marines re-adopted 1911s.
The US is spoiled with our logistics so getting new springs and cleaning kits arent a problem. When your glock striker tip breaks you can quickly get another. 1911 dont have coil springs they are all springed steel. 1911s dont need the maintance these other guns need.

In other words, you don't like the political stuff. Too bad. Guns ARE political; and to ignore that fact is a recipe for disaster. I've found that those who resent political commentary on gun channels are usually Left-leaning. Their cognitive dissonance kicks in when they are confronted with the reality that it is their side that it is hell-bent on violating the precious Civil Right, known as the Second Amendment. If the Right to keep and bear arms was not under CONSTANT attack, we would all prefer to simply be entertained by fully monetized, glossy gun porn.

Can't even front, I've been the guy saving his quarters and dimes up in the old water cooler jugs for the day I could pick up an STI at it's hefty $2100 price tag so seeing something that looks to be functionally identical from a solid manufacturer at a lower price brings tears to my eyes. At the same token I was also one of the people who ditched Springfield after they bent the knee in Illinois over licensing, in a way I still don't know if I'm comfortable coming back to them after that decision but that's a personal matter I know is on the mind of a lot of us who still haven't forgiven or forgotten. At the same token I have absolutely zero hate for those good folks making their gear, the people running the machines and keeping the lights on, the folks who designed this tasty treat - it's always management that needs to be held accountable for their actions not the frontline guys.

It's been a long time since SA has come up with something that made me excited. This makes me excited. I've owned a few Staccatos and I am sure side by the side the Staccato is absolutely a better gun, but for a long time Staccato has dominated the "mid tier" double stack 1911 market (I say mid in " because $2300-2400 is hardly mid tier for most people but when your competitors are $3k+....). It's good to see another option out there for people who want a double stack 1911 but can't shell out $2k+ for a handgun.

Both grip screws came out, the front trijicon fiber insert flew out, the rear sight bracket and the rear sight inside the bracket both moved 2mm left, it stopped ejecting, it stopped going into battery, the safety fell out when operated from the right side pedal which sent the little spring and rod into the stratosphere (found it), and… it shot 7” high at 30 yards… and the magazines reallly need to be driven home when topped off or they will not seat. Plus the rounds rattle in the magazines after the last one goes in. 5” model btw.

What ammo did you find the gun preferred? I may order some Atlas mags and change the spring to a Wilson combat. The tolerances are tight and my guess is that will help with reliability. I really enjoyed the interview in The Armory Life. This is a great review of this weapon. I want both but I have so many pistols already. I like it so much though. It really is everything I want in a 1911. Keep up the good work brother.

With modern machining this thing is probably a tac driver and reliable. I was recently issued a new rifle and I zeroed it in like 12 rounds for both the iron and optics. I fired a three round group, found it consistent, and then did single shots after that. Thing hits steel at 100 yards no problem and if I do my part it is an easy 100% on the qual course. I remember when I was in the army at the turn of the century we would spend at least half a day at the zero range getting zeros right. That is a thing of the past with modern machining. They picked an awesome time to make these pistols.

Thanks for a great video and more importantly a very unique use of adjectives to describe the Prodigy's feel, trigger pull, slide mechanics etc. I, like just about everyone who commented cannot wait to purchase. Amazing looking handgun, I love how it doesn’t have that oversized pistol grip look that I hated on all other 2011’s wish it came in 10mm though.

There's loads of 10mm 1911 manufacturers and designs and the 1911 litteraly comes in every caliber a glock dose near enough, double stack single stack there's even a 1911 in 357 magnum. The coonan 1911.

It's literally the same size grip as pretty much all 2011s. You may be thinking of an actual 1911 double stack.

I’ve been drooling for the last two weeks looking for one of these. I finally found one in stock and it’s 250 miles away 500 round trip. Right now the mountain passes are closed a much as open. But I’ve got to have one the 4” models. I already have a 5” 1911 Springfield loaded that I love that’s not going anywhere. so it will be a matter of time and I’ll get one.
