Edit: Anyone coming from the SpongeBob meme, welcome. Yes feel free to clown on the video 💀, by clicking here you actually made me half a cent so thanksssssss 💛💛💛 Hey I’m gonna clear up some confusion with the creepy boss room audio segment of this video. I’ve seen many comments mentioning the noise has a train in the background and how the sounds are more closely related to Octo Expansion. And while that theory may be correct. Alterna Log 4’s instance does have quite a few points to back it up. - you can hear something similar to the bending of metallic sheets and it’s impact after falling to the ground but reverberated which I assume would be the sounds of alterna’s interior structure breaking, a blender wouldn’t produce a sound like that. - Some have mentioned how the screams are too slow to replicate human’s. Nintendo would not outright put the audio undistorted. That would change the entire game’s age rating lol. It’s up to the imagination of the player to decide what they hear. Being crushed by debris or being blended would make any one scream so both theories are possible. - The sounds make an appearance in undertow spillway so they aren’t exclusive to Octo canyon or Octo valley. Sorry If my explanation was really short/non existent for that part of the video, I’m not a pro theorists at all but I thought it was be neat if I could propose some newer theories to the community. Of course you don’t have to believe anything presented today but take it for what you will. Thanks for watching and understanding 💛
Yes but I’ve spent a good little bit inside the boss rooms in splatoon 3 and there’s none of the ominous noises you’d think since alterna was the last bastion for humanity there’d be those noises but there’s not any
Not sure if it disproves your theory or not, but when one of the lead developers was asked about the ominous boss room noises, they didn't know they existed. They were the lead for the team who worked on the boss battles, and in the last few weeks as they were finishing up, the devs were given some more freedom with adding some things. The lead is pretty sure that the ambience is just one of the devs sticking something in because why not. Sorry about the paragraph, and also tell me if I got anything wrong.
From a timeline standpoint, the Alterna humans dying off shortly before or even during the events of Splatoon 1 and 2 does not work. The aftermath of the extinction directly caused the inklings to be created over the course of several thousand years. The humans seemingly only survived a few generations in alterna. Even being generous, that’s like 200 years at most. Splatoon takes place 12,000 years after world war 5 and earth becoming uninhabitable. Alterna log 5 states that fresh life, the inklings and octolings, was born from the sea life in Alterna fusing with the liquid crystals and gaining the psychic desires of mankind, which was to return to the surface land. That means that the first inklings were created after Alterna’s catastrophic end. There’s just no way that the sounds heard in Splatoon 1 and 2 boss rooms are the Alterna catastrophe.
Personally I still think Octo expansion is a lot darker. Just the concept of test subjects going through extremely difficult tests, promised with a way to the surface, only to be literally blended apart and reformed into reprogrammed zombies to act as enemies in those tests. It’s pretty dark.
Splatoon 3 tried to copy and paste Octo Expansion's storyline and it failed in my opinion. A lot of the dark mystique surrounding Grizz Co and the purpose of the golden eggs were totally butchered because Mr. Grizz - who happened to be a literal cartoon bear - wanted to make the world fluffy. Any set up for a story relating to Salmon Run is completely gone or severely impaired now.
@@veronicatherabbit I mean the fact that you still play salmon run even after knowing the full extent of evil the corporation is. Is kind of a genius commentary on consumerist society that splatoon emulates. I'll at least give props to that. The purpose of the tests however... doesn't really have one. Its not like alterna was a place that trained military personnel or ran tests on subjects. It was a home for the last humanity. If anything it should play like octo canyon and valley where its the agent invading into home territory and the local military is deployed in defensive positions to defend the resources they stole from above. This just gives you no real reason to do the test besides giving you power eggs to feed your small fry. But thats not a good reason, since humanity didn't use that resource or traded in it. Its purely there because its the resource you need for a game mechanic to open up the map. And Grizz has no reason to help you. So clearly that facility was not him repurposing the place to defend against invasion. So the story is missing a huge chunk of context. If I were to fan fic. They should have replaced the crystals mentioned in the logs. And replaced it with power eggs. As every enemy in the game drops power eggs, and the humans heavily relied on this resource. you can make the logical leap that my theory is a correct interpretation but its not outrightly stated that power eggs are these crystals the humans used and subsequently created all sapient life as we know it. But it makes sense and nintendo should have made the connection.
I personally find the Octo Expansion more dark. The idea of going through soul-crushing tests, being promised to see “the promised land,” only to be blended into a substance used to turn anyone that gets near thoroughly put through the process into mindless zombies. Infected by blended bodies of your own people, possibly including family and friends, then the villain wanted to use that ooze to wipe out Inkling and Octarian races. Mr. Grizz, on the other hand, wanted golden eggs from the Salmonids to turn the whole world into fuzz, and eventually make everyone that became fuzz balls die off, while Tartar wanted wanted to destroy life instantaneously. I would call OE to be the most dark while 3 is the most ominous and only got darker at the ending or after… After Alterna
Tartar in the Japanese version wants to being humanity back while in the Western localization he wants to make new lifeforms. Grizz is similar but worse, he and Tartar are both made by humanity and have similar goals, but for Grizz his unnatural "mammals" would be under his control, a biomass monster. Grizz himself has an even "colder" personality compared to the passionate computer Tartar, Tartar rages at the characters and player while Grizz coldly looks at you, speaks in a monotone voice, and basically says "time to die" . Tartar and Grizz are very much similar to SHODAN and The Many
Exactly! Not to mention that majority of the enemies we face in OE were, at one point or another, real people... and the ink they happen to shoot at you is MADE of over 10,000 dead people! How swell! that being said, i feel like Mr. grizz was a more... sympathetic villain? honestly, i don't think he was all there mentally -- and i don't mean that in the insulting way. the vibes he gave off during the story mission accompanied with the alterna logs lead me to think that the loneliness (and possible grief?) simply drove grizzyboy insane.
Absolutely love the implication that a sentient AI is the one asking us "do you prefer McNuggets or Fries?". Perhaps ORCA just wants to know because they can't taste anything
I never made the connection that the AI may actually be the one sending the themes to the fax machine... almost makes too much sense, the fax machine implied to be a relic left behind by humans, obviously something has to be communicating with it.
Something I noticed while being bored and reconning maps is that inside Undertow Spillway, if you listen closely and try to pay attention to the wind sounds with max volume, you can hear similar machinery sounds to the creepy sounds from Splatoon 1 and faint screeches also reminescing of the 1 sounds. If y'all are interested I uploaded a short clip of it :)
i like to think the boss room screams come from the deep sea metro and the screams of octarians and octolings. i also think that the reason you can hear the boss room noises in the final boss of splatoon 2 is because that fight took place in the same area that splatoon 1's final boss did
Honestly, I *don't* think that the Boss Fight Screams are from humanity's downfall- they're too... slow? And not panicked enough. If the sky was literally falling, everyone would be screaming their hearts out, and the noises it would make would be completely different; much more sudden and close together.
@@serapheri Yeah, even though it’s mainly young adults and teens that play the game it still has a rating for kids meaning kids r gonna play, so if they put non distorted screams it might have changed the age rating
From an old interview with Nogami he talked about how the fax machine recieves splatfest prompts by recieving thousand year old questions from space that humans thought of and sent into space. I always wondered why they were sent into space in the first place, but I think ORCA being related to the fax machine creates a cool theory of how it recorded the prompts from humans and then sent them into space to try to communicate with other lifeforms in space but like the alterna rocket the prompts just came back to earth.
in octo expansion, when tar tar is building the blender, if you reverse the audio you can hear humans cheering followed by "HAPPY NEW YEAR" as well as a count UP to 10, then screams almost immediately after
The rocket ambience immediately gave me the same kind of fear that the laboratory from Kirby in the forgotten land. Both are more advanced than the rest of the world the games take place in and both feature unexpected human dialogue.
This is why I think I loved 3 the most, I'm a huge sucker for this dark stuff and exploring remnants of human civilization long after and uncovering what led up to it. The mystery of the big rocket, why there's a part of Alterna's sky messed up. If I could replay the story all over again I would just to have that feeling of mystery and semi unnerving realizations.
@@projectpitchfork860 I don't think the rocket launched during the launch test and if you mean the end game that wouldn't make sense either cuz the hole is there when you first end up in alterna
With Orca being in charge of splatfests, it makes sense since most of the splatfests come from topics discussed by humanity, and given that humanity was together in Alterna (which we will assume people from all over the world with different cultures) it would explain why certain regions have different splatfest themes as people have different topics they talk about depending on where they are.
I don't think that the noises occurring during the start of the boss fights are made by humans, but rather it's the levels that we beat before crumbling to the ground, with the screams being the octarians howling in agony as they are crushed in octo-mush.
Honestly splatoon three hero mode got really dark at the end and the orca logs were really creepy at times. I forgot how dark this series gets sometimes
The world of Splatoon is so detailed and amazing. The devs really go all out adding in these lttle details with such huge implications. It really makes the game amazing because it can appeal to younger kids as a fun inky color game, but it can also appeal to older fans with such deep lore and so much to analyze. I don't know why more people don't play it, it's such an awesome series.
The Orchestral Mr Grizz theme is so beautiful, i wonder if mr grizz found it once he went to alterna and hired someone to make his industries theme based on it
the most unsettling audio to me is the announcements, the human speech is so out of place and the way it reverberates throughout Alterna puts you in the position of a resident, how they would hear announcements like that
Well, Side Order already has a much darker first impression than Octo Expansion, which has by far the darkest lore in the series. And the possibility of Tartar having something to do with it just makes it that much darker.
I hope it's even darker than the main story. C'mon, Nintendo, tell us a story that makes us put down the controller for a moment and go for a walk, like Bioshock's ending.
@@Sparkz1607octo expansion does not disappoint when it first came out and I’m gonna be honest the trailer of the new dlc looks kinda eerie so I think it will be good as well
if it was order, i think that instead of trying to bring mammalians back, mr grizz would instead try to make all of civilization his workers to prevent the downfall of humanity happening again or something like that idk
As much I love the idea of the boss sounds being the fall of alterna (pun not intended) i don't know if it's possible, alterna's demise happened before inklings were even close to being created, and if it's just a recording of it happening, why is it playing in the octarian domes?
I might be wrong on this but I heard from somewhere that the domes were made by humans before the Octarians took over. If the screens shown in the domes are the liquid crystal displays, it might explain how we hear those noises. The crystals absorb human emotions and thoughts so the sounds we hear come from the remaining crystals. It’s a bit of a stretchhhhh but I think it’s the closest explanation we have so far
@@Pufuu I was gonna comment the same thing the person above already did lol, but yeah crystals is probably the closest guess, if we're assuming it's Alterna. If I remember right, the logs said Inklings evolved long after humans died out, so I don't think any would've been alive around the time of Splatoon 1, especially considering barely any years pass between 1-3. Another theory I saw before Splatoon 3 even came out though was that the screaming was coming from the Octolings in Octo Expansion, before or after being sanitized. I forget the name of the location, or if it even has one, but I think you can guess what I'm referring to?
@@nautilume7114 yeah it's been a while since I played Octo Expansion lol so I forgot the name. But it could be, yeah. I just feel like it's more likely for it to be from the Deepsea Metro since that was created in the second game, it could be a stretch to say the developers intended for something in the third game to be the answer to a small mystery not many people know or think about from Splatoon 1. It's possible, of course, but I think the larger reason it's unlikely is due to the time gap between those events.
@@-mothman- I personally think those sounds helped inspire the lord for Octo expansion and Splatoon 3’s lore. In an interview, being asked about the sounds, the director claimed he had no idea they were in the game
I thought that the screams heard in the first two games were pretty much confirmed to be commander Tartar blending up his test subjects as those noises are not heard in the third game at all. And since the sounds of a subway train can be heard alongside them.
OOOO YOUR NARRATION IS SO GOOD IN THIS PUFUU! Your choice of music and visual style is so professional! Reading through the logs and realizing that the Octarians may have found what was left over from human society and the theory about the Splatfest fax machine have been on my mind ever since I finished story mode. I still need to find that last bonus but OMG.
OH MY GOD it's Yume!!! Hi! How are you doing? And yes, the Splatfest theory really pulled me towards the game (I was between Splatoon 3 and another game, but now I'm fully devoted to S3). In fact, as I've laid eyes on the system ever since it was introduced in the RotM trailer, and now finding more about it in the actual game and its secrets, is something I can't describe with words. I felt so attracted to it, not even knowing what it was, and now discovering that it's most definitely the source of the most important event in all of Splatoon... ahhh~
So that's when I decided to make an AE (Alterna-tive Extension) of that character's story (something I do with every character I want to know more about of). I decided to place this AE a few years since humanity's final day, but not nearly enough to see the squids/octopi evolve. I did this AE because the O.R.C.A. System isn't something you can actually draw (and I love drawing characters based off games), so I needed to find another concept for it, completely separate of Splatoon's true lore. And it all starts with a simple question. (If you don't want to read the following, it's totally okay, but I had to write it down somewhere) What if... While everyone in Alterna was watching the rocket launch, a young girl named Arya volunteered for a mental experiment with some of the same liquid crystals that covered the very walls of the cavern. It consisted in slightly modifying the crystals and implementing them inside the fluids of her brain, so that she could connect thoughts with whatever inteligent being (no matter if it was a person, an animal, a plant, or even an AI) she made strong direct contact with, basically merging them into one in personality. During the experiment, however, she would need to be placed in a three-year sleep inside a small capsule, but Arya wasn't worried about anything happening in that period of time, so she agreed. Oh, how wrong she was. When the rocket's launch caused Alterna to collapse, somehow, the capsule in which Arya was in remained intact. A year passed, then two, then three. When she woke up, Alterna was in ruins, she was in shock of how her beloved home had changed, and not for the better. She went on to explore what had once been her neighboring sites, in search for any of her friends, family, or even a single human, but they were all long gone. Arya wasn't ready to give up yet, so with her science knowledge she had learned during her roughly 16 years of active life, she went to the control center of Alterna's rocket, but there was no one there. Instead, she found tons of static-filled screens and an empty command pad, which had an emerald-green glow that somehow attracted her, and that's when it happened. She went to touch it, but got electrocuted in the process, and thus accidentally using her only chance of connecting her mind to another intelligence for life. Arya and O.R.C.A. were now synced. Arya now didn't want to leave the Alterna Space Center and explore the rest of the sites, but instead stare at those same screens, which were now slowly gaining power, day after day. For more than 10.000 years, she, along with the system she was now controlling like her own mind, researched restlessly for information about what happened during the three years Arya was asleep and O.R.C.A. was unactive. Thanks to some bits and pieces of information they occasionally found within the Center, they were able to recreate some of the logs that had been damaged or deleted by the Great Collapse. After rewriting all the damaged Alterna Logs and tying together all info she could find, Arya was ready to move onto something else. As she and O.R.C.A. were finishing their daily revision to make sure there were no anomalies, a crystal-clear thought struck her head: the next intelligent species, if there even was one, must deserve to know some parts of human culture, so she ran as fast as a wi-fi signal through the outside of Alterna in search of something she could use to message the next lifeform, which ended up being Inklings and Octolings, and she ended up finding an old fax machine in the Happiness Research Lab, which she took back to the Alterna Space Center, and started editing. By the end of 2020, she had made and printed 141 fliers with themes based on human preferences that still remained unsolved. She then sent these out to the surface to see if this new lifeform would know the answer. The Inklings ended up finding these fliers, roughly one every month, and started a tradition of making a festival with these themes. They called this event... The Splatfest. Somehow, when the Splatfest Results were announced, O.R.C.A. picked up the faint signals that came from the surface and passed them to Arya, who was overjoyed seeing that, firstly, there actually WAS a new intelligent lifeform, and sencondly, they had actually ANSWERED her questions. Proud and satisfied of these results, Arya thought it was finally time for her to take a rest, like the peaceful one she had while the researchers were experimenting on her. But she was wrong. AGAIN. Two years passed, and specifically on Friday, September 9th of 2022, Arya woke up to the sound of her companion AI registering a new Alternan citizen, the Splatlandian youth dubbed New Agent 3. From there, she had to reactivate all the test fields and obstacle courses that she didn't feel the need to use, to see what New Agent 3 and their li'l buddy Smallfry were capable of. So... did you like the story? I might make a comic about Arya and O.R.C.A. someday for you to fandub. It's gonna be filled with quotes from after and before New Agent 3's discovery, sort of like a Behind The Scenes for Story Mode. I originally had this idea from the level "Amusing a Bemused Muse", in which I felt their realization about -Oh wait. That's literally my symbol-.
AND THEN THE SQUIDLING JUMPEDED OUT AND WAS HYPERTEALISTIC AND BLOOD-EYED AND THE SWITCH I GOT FROM MY DEAD FRIEND READ "SNIPPITY SNOPPITY YOU GAME IS A SPOOKY"
The pa system is a very neat feature to hear the launch sequence and error message of the launch's terrible failure, this was the last sound the humans heard before the crashing of the panels on top of their last civilization, at first it sounds hopeful in the prospects of finding a new future world to start a new leaf in, before going to utter horror that they mistakenly doomed their existence and are about to be wiped off the planet forever. Also Orca just asking the next evolved species questions that have bothered humanity by requiring them to duke out their answers in Splatfest battles is pretty funny, it basically just said who cares about debate or facts what does the general population say and how skillful in combat will they be to defend their answers.
We now know how humanity fell, but I now want to know why. Who was sick enough to start a war that would annihilate not only humanity, but most of the life on land? And could they, are at least their influence... somehow still be around? We got so much lore from Alterna, and yet I feel like we've just scratched the surface...
The fact you finally solved what those boss room screams is just terrifying. and this whole video creeped me out so much i had to turn the light on in my room
Version 5 of the rocket ambience has what sounds like screams of perhaps humans. I know it’s Mr Grizzes theme but maybe it’s meant to show the connection between the two events. And if we assume that Agent 3 has been reading the logs, maybe the realization applies to them realizing what’s going on, Agent 3 is connecting the story just like the player is. But that’s just a theory! Also maybe the crystals are reading agent 3s mind as they are thinking about the story and tragedy, so maybe the screams are a projection of what agent 3 is imagining it was like. Who knows.
@@Cryptorabbi69 because you just said that this video is just like that spongebob episode, so i’d assume that mass murder and kidnapping also happened in that spongebob episode!
I LOVE how Splatoon's story started having a much darker tone with the introduction of the Octo Expansion. It's not so dark that it's actually inappropriate for kids, but also dark enough to really stick with you and give you genuine chills. It also all makes sense within the Splatoon universe, nothing feels like it's out of place or doesn't belong in Splatoon. They really got so much better at writing the lore and stories.
I like to believe the devs had a plan for the story since the beginning, since we knew throughout S1, S2 and Octo Expansion that for some reason the humans had went extinct and that sea life replaced them. Altho the overhaul ambiance of the 2 first games camoflages the dark story behind them, as you progress in the three games, the story starts showing more and more and gets darker, to the point you understand Octo Expansion is trying to reveal something about the whole story of Splatoon. I just love how the evolution of the story-making is shown throughout the Splatoon series.
I love Splatoon 3 ever since Splatoon 1 we speculated what happened to humans besides the info we already had and alterna finally told us the truth not only that took it beyond my expectations for og splat fans I can say this is game of the year
i was impatiently waiting for a video of this type explaining what more dark details they added in splat 3's story and i got exactly what i wanted, great video!
Currently working through the transmission from the rocket launch! Ending off at the humming noise around 1:21 or so because woah this is a lot so far. Single alarm sound, static. "Current weather conditions." Static. "Please send transparticipants (?). Window." Distortion. "2.4 (?) per (?)." Alarm. "We are T-12." Distortion. "8 hours." Distortion. "19 seconds to-" Distortion. Three quicker, higher pitched alarms. "Error." Distortion. "With the transmi-" Distortion, static, alarm, static. "Security." Distortion. "Has been threatened. There was an anomaly. Recalculating." Distortion, some was in between the last few sentences. "Threat." Distorted alarm, 4 ping noises, regular alarm. "Navigation method started." Distortion. "Dynamics Stable." Distortion. "Minus c." Distortion. "1.33" Distortion, static, somewhere between that mess is the word all. Then, the hum begins. This is a personal interpretation, probably not 100% correct. But hey, I got halfway through.
When I finished all of the Hero/Story mode and I read the whole Alterna logs I had chills. I never expected ANYTHING like that to happen. And the fact that I never paid attention to the audio..
He used us. He used them. We killed them. We invaded their home. We took their eggs. They aren't happy little workers. We were blinded by the things we desired. The things they desired. A distraction. An illusion of innocence... Aren't ΓΗΞΥ the same as us? From a long lasting enemy who was once a friend to now being blinded by their own grudge and anger towards ΓΗΞΜ? That world has so many unforgettable mistakes... Just like ours. Splatoon™
The thing is, I would say Grizco is a lot like a gray area. If you remember in the sunken scrolls, towns and cites would often be invaded by salmonids and would be completly destoryed because there was no way to control these salmonids, Grizco was the way to control it. So its more like something that looked liek it was for a good cause, but haed alteriror motives.
Splatoon 2's sunken scrolls shows us GrizzCo Industries as a good thing, but if that was the case in those times, then why would the owner wanted golden eggs(you already know why) if he just wanted to help the inkling society?
The ominous clock sound of Vecna playing while Pufuu described the end of humanity on Alterna... 💀 Also, ORCA mentions in one log that humanity created an AI which would take all their knowledge and pass it to the next sentient beings (JUST WHAT TARTAR WAS FOR). Humanity then created ORCA to register all that information and when the time actually came, ORCA would have passed the information to Tartar. This is what I understood from that log
Btw the Golden Eggs did NOT power the rocket. The Rocket’s source of power was the Great Zapfish. Golden Eggs, on the other hand, were used to in the creation of Fuzzy Ooze.
I still believe that the creepy noises from the first 2 splat games are noises that the trains make in the deep-sea metro/the screams of octarians in the deep-sea metro
i love the broadcasting sounds in alterna, ive never found it creepy, just very aesthetic and oddly relaxing.. or.. something, cant really find the right words for it.
Before I finished the story mode I made it all the way to professional 2+, before I knew the truth of what Grizz did to those eggs I thought he ate them. 😅
Splatoon's story takes place years apart. To say the noises are the sounds of Alterna collapsing around the humans implies the humans are STILL being crushed by falling debris since the sounds still persist.
The metal clinking and clanking + the screams of somewhat pain and agony is probably caused by the agents before "agent 8" (a.k.a 10,008) being blended in a blender because of tartar or it's because of the rocket malfunction but we mostly lean towards the blender theory because the deep sea metro is underground just like octo valley and octo canyon and the deep sea metro might be near octo canyon and octo valley that's why we here the screams in Splatoon 1 and 2 (this is just my opinion/theory if you have your own feel free to share!!!)
now that you kinda mentioned the picture in the splatfests reveals, i’ve always wondered the meaning to it but theres mostly no videos about it.. also this sounded much like a horror story the way you told it and i liked it
I just thought does agent 3(new) and the rest want to return to the surface and thats why we still see the sky in there?because in the logs it said that it sees peoples dreams and mimics them,so thats my theory.

That probably also explains the Squids vs Octos splatfest since I am pretty sure that no one in Inkopolis would ever want another race war

Those sounds most likely come from Deepsea Metro and Tartar’s crazy experiments
i like to think the boss room screams come from the deep sea metro and the screams of octarians and octolings. i also think that the reason you can hear the boss room noises in the final boss of splatoon 2 is because that fight took place in the same area that splatoon 1's final boss did

I’m pretty sure the part of the sky that’s missing was caused by the ground breaking after beating Octavio in the beginning
@@Not_so_Klever Or by the rocket.
Could this imply that the idols have something to do with ‘something deeper’
I don't think that the noises occurring during the start of the boss fights are made by humans, but rather it's the levels that we beat before crumbling to the ground, with the screams being the octarians howling in agony as they are crushed in octo-mush.
and the fact that alterna is in a different location from octo valley and canyon.
The Orchestral Mr Grizz theme is so beautiful, i wonder if mr grizz found it once he went to alterna and hired someone to make his industries theme based on it
This video single handedly set the splatoon public look back by like 10 years
What is that supposed to mean???
@@Sqwivig LOL true, that got me too
And the series isn’t even 10 years old yet.
the most unsettling audio to me is the announcements, the human speech is so out of place and the way it reverberates throughout Alterna puts you in the position of a resident, how they would hear announcements like that
If the main story mode was that dark I have a feeling when the dlc comes it gonna get a lot worse/more nightmare fuel.
Yeah I'll remember your comment cause it's very creepy to see that we don't even have the dlc so the lore can be even more scary. Can't wait!
Well, Side Order already has a much darker first impression than Octo Expansion, which has by far the darkest lore in the series. And the possibility of Tartar having something to do with it just makes it that much darker.
Unfortunately not
Can’t wait for whatever splatoon lore the DLC is gonna drop on us!

Exactly o wonder what it would be like if they won
@@-mothman- Deepsea metro? Also it could be the combined agony of all 3 events
(If you don't want to read the following, it's totally okay, but I had to write it down somewhere)
What if...

The perfect thing to sum up this video would that time spongebob and patrick went over the tiny bump in the theme park

Who knows.

I like to believe the devs had a plan for the story since the beginning, since we knew throughout S1, S2 and Octo Expansion that for some reason the humans had went extinct and that sea life replaced them. Altho the overhaul ambiance of the 2 first games camoflages the dark story behind them, as you progress in the three games, the story starts showing more and more and gets darker, to the point you understand Octo Expansion is trying to reveal something about the whole story of Splatoon.

now that you kinda mentioned the picture in the splatfests reveals, i’ve always wondered the meaning to it but theres mostly no videos about it.. also this sounded much like a horror story the way you told it and i liked it
I just thought does agent 3(new) and the rest want to return to the surface and thats why we still see the sky in there?because in the logs it said that it sees peoples dreams and mimics them,so thats my theory.
Shouldn’t we be talking about how orca is running on a Wii U?
