Nonna Giovanna thanking Siri is just so wholesome. Thank you to her, for the sauce recipe, and the stories!
It was the best part of the video
😂👍
I am also always kind to my Siri and always thank her ! :)
Stop saying wholesome.
@@longtallshorty5791 Ahhh, it must be your first time on the internet. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome. wholesome.
Hi Giovanna, I am a Grandmother from Finland and I absolutely adore Your skills,I think that I have seen all Your episodes. And the music sends me back to my youth when I was a young student in medicine and visited Cicily in 1979! You just can,t imagine how many levels of the life memories we can experience when seeing your shows,.I really hope that You just keep on cooking!🥰❤
It s my great pleasure to cook and to share the recipes with my RUclips Friends.
Bolognese Sauce holds a special place in my heart because when I was a child of about 7 or 8 (I'm 54 now) I happened to see a TV chef prepare it on a show on PBS. I don't recall who or which. It looked like the most delicious thing I'd ever seen and showed it to my grandmother. She was tickled by my enthusiasm so she got the ingredients and together we made a batch. It's one of my favorite childhood memories.
It might have been Marcella Hazan, whose books on Northern Italian Cooking were Master Classes!
@@GiovannaBelliaLaMarca I want to say it was Jeff Smith on The Frugal Gourmet but I really can't be certain. I just know I watched a lot of that show as a kid. It's too bad his career ended in disgrace. I liked many of his recipes.
Not only do I love your recipes, I love hearing your stories from Italy.
Thank you Jean, sharing stories is always a pleasure!
She has the prettiest kitchen and the prettiest hands. I love watching this show.
Thank you for rinsing your containers with water and adding it to sauce! My pet peeve, watching a chef add a mixture to a pot and leaving a goodly amount still in a blender, bowl or can.
I agree with you, I'm also irked when I see much of a cake batter is left in the bowl..... that's why rubber spatulas were invented! Waste not, want not!
Grazie mille Signora, perfetto! ❤
Grazie Tanto a Lei!
Ms. Giovanna, your stories are truly beautiful. I appreciate how you explain in simple understandable terms the why you use certain methods. Please do not take offense, when I state that you remind me of "Mrs. Julian Child, bc you handle your "oops" with such sweet, funny grace. Your ancient Grater is adorable too. Bless you, your Howard, Francesca & Nicoletta. Paz be with us all 🙏. "Isa"
Ugh, I just noticed my own Oops, lol. I meant "Mrs. Julia Child", not "Julian", lol, sorry. 😊 "Isa"
A real nonna! I love the little story times while she’s cooking!! 🤣🤣
Thank you very much!
Thank you, Giovanna. You are an amazing educator and person as well as a fascinating cook! You’re also great company! Many thanks, Eric
Thank you so much Eric!
Hello Giovanna, What a huge smile I had watching to use new kitchen tools & then you made me laugh a loud when you used your wristwatch to tell Siri to set the timer!! I laughed because I don’t like using new tool or gadgets when I’m fine with what I already have, but I do think there’s always a great new item that’s worth trying!! I like to watch you because you’re a very soothing presenter! I think anyone who needs to learn to cook will definitely put up many great recipes & tips from your show.
I have always loved cooking because I totally enjoyed being in the kitchen with my grandmother & mom - since I was young!
@@soniatriana9091 I've always loved cooking and sharing, because it has the power to feed body and soul!
Hello Giovanna, im a yorkshire nonna, and I have loved cooking since I was 15 years old. I is my therapy. I love your video. Stay well. ❤
Thank You Elaina, I also have always cooked and have always loved doing so!
Eine tolle sympathische Frau und ein wunderbares Rezept ❤
Oh.. My favorite sauce. My first girlfriend, my first love, introduced me to him. I'm here for dinner. She made Spaghetti with this sauce. This is love.. 😘😘😘
Bolognese sauce is definitely one of the best Italian Sauces!
Very refreshing to hear an Italian say to keep an open mind with cooking. Very different to most Italians.
Your Grandson is very fortunate to have you, the food looks delicious ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Brava, sei une vera nonna italiana!
Great approach with natuaral ingredients to make a healthy nourishing meal. I agree about adding extra vegetables sometimes, I like filling out my ragù with onion carrot and celery. It tastes good and it's healthy.
Your love for cooking is heartwarming! And your manicure is beautiful too. Thanks.
It's a passion that has its own special rewards!
Hi Giovanna from California!
Thank you so much for this recipe!
I’m 65 and I just used an immersion blender for the first time last week making cream of potato soup. The immersion blender almost got away from me! I almost prefer my old school way of mashing w/potato masher, all tho the blender was much faster.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours and thank you again.
Most times I also use my potato masher, but, I don't like to ignore good kitchen tools!
There is something so reassuring watching an experienced senior sharing her cooking skills and adding small vignettes of her life story as she cooks.
Enough with those Tik Toks who try to show you Bolognese sauce in 30 seconds.
This recipe is not something that can be rushed and Giovanna is such a delight to listen to.
Yes, I will be saving that sauce can next time as a spoon holder for sure 😊😊
So glad I stumbled upon your channel, Giovanna, and looking forward to more ! Belissima
Thank you so much! 🌹
good lord you are a precious lady, Giovanna. you just gained a new subscriber! That bolognese looks amazing, i make it pretty much the exact same (only i add garlic to it...)
Garlic is not traditional but it’ll be delicious as well!
I very much look forward to time spent with you on this channel. I feel like I’m right at home again ❤
I thank and I appreciate your comments!
Excited to see this!!!
Thank you very much!
It's wonderful to watch you cooking those delicious dishes. I love you immensely. You remind me of my lovely grandmothers. Hugs from Chile.
I love watching your videos and always look forward to the next. I’m the granddaughter of Sicilian immigrants but love the food from other regions of Italy. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe. You and I are of similar age and I love to share my family recipes with my grandchildren.
“Flat side down, it saves you fingers and accidents” ha true!
Thank you so much Giovanna, you’re a great chef and a great teacher. ❤
Thank you for sharing. And yes thanking Siri was a nice view into how proper manners are expressed!
my husband is first generation American his mother is Sicilian and his father is Italian. He is always saying can you try to make this or that his grandma always made lol No, Im southern born and bred want some biscuits and gravy/ Finding your channel is a great Christmas present to him!!!
I am thrilled! He will enjoy biscuits and gravy as much as I do, and you will enjoy Sicilian cooking as my half Irish husband does!
Thanks Giovanna for bringing back old memories of my grandmother making homemade pasta on Sunday, I'll make this recipe in her honor as it was her favourite!
I am equally honored! Thank you.
so sweet, even thanking her I-watch for keeping time.
I made some and canned it up., I just ate a bit. So delicious.
Thank you so much Giovanna
You are a fantastic cook.I Love watching you.
I enjoy cooking you give me great ideas.
Oh! I’ve been looking for a good recipe that teaches me well. My favourite restaurant in Melbourne (Australia) is owned and run by an Italian family and the first thing I ever learnt to cook was the Australian version of this…. And now, you’ve both entertained me, taught me and given me a beautiful recipe to emulate! Thankyou so so much!!
“The fat makes it taste good”❤❤❤ Massive smile on my face watching you cook with passion in your charming cucina. Love your new tool for separating the meat, will be making this for sure!!😊
nonna you are such a magnificent cook !!
My personal version is very similar. I use a bit less tomato, and even sometimes only a bit of concentrate (I try to keed the flavour of the meat front and centre). At the end I use milk instead of cream, and for spices, I use pepper instead of nutmeg.
Great recipe, I love it!
Your joy is a gift! Thank you for sharing your kitchen 😊
Dear Giovanna, thank you so much for this recipe, this was the first time I made this Bolognese sauce and it turned out lovely, i will surely make it again God bless you and your lovely family.
Hello and thank you from the UK Giovanna! I love watching your videos and I especially love seeing your much cherished and much used vintage kitchen wares. Much love : )
Hi Giovanna, I am so delighted to have just come across your videos .I have a passion for cooking especially Italian food , it is my very favorite food to cook and eat.. I love all of the important things that you point out. It brings me back to being in the kitchen with my mother- in- law. she was such a wonderful cook ,mother and grandmother. I learned amazing things from her, l miss her dearly. I will be watching you often!🤩
I love watching you cook. It reminds me of when I would watch and learn how to cook and bake from my full blooded Sicilian grandmother and mother.
Grandma was the youngest of 13 kids in a prominent Sicilian family in Dorchester (Boston) Mass. .
I enjoy the memories your videos invoke as well as seeing what small differences in ingredients and techniques you and my family's recipes have.
Thank You
Love your recipes, God bless you and your family, and so cute of you to thank Siri for setting your timer lol.
Thank you; I'm not used to the machines, so I treat them like real people!
Hello, Giovanna. I happened upon your channel a short while ago and have been somewhat binge watching all your videos! I enjoy the way you talk and teach as you go. Growing up, my dad always talked about a neighbor that lived in his small coal mining town in WV. A very nice Italian lady who made the most amazing food. I always wished I had an Italian neighbor who would let me hang out in her kitchen and learn how to make everything and who would tell me stories. Now I'm at retirement age and I still wish that!
BTW, I use my immersion blender and meat chopper all the time. I like my ground meat to not have chunks. If I want meat chunks, I make meatballs, LOL!
I especially love when you set the table and sit down with your husband.
Bless you.
Hello from a fellow West Virginian! I've always wanted to have an Italian neighbor, too, & I want to attend the Italian Festival one of these days. We have so many wonderful cooks from a variety of backgrounds in our State.
The highlight of my day! God bless you all ❤
It's so lovely to watch you prepare while explaining the important steps in order to make delicious meals, I feel a warm place in my heart for you, Giovanna! As a grandmother, daughter and grandaughter of italians living in Brazil, I feel connected with your cooking and thankful for your art! Salute e grazie mille!!!
Grazie tanto, it's a pleasure to have our connections! ❤
It is such a joy to watch you cook and hear your wisdom. Thank you and wishing you a very Merry Christmas.
Thank you so much, I appreciate your comments!
Using this in lasagna was a big hit for Christmas. Looking forward to learning more from you.
Oah! Thank You 🙏
Thank you Giovanna, enjoyed your video. God bless you.
I recently discovered your channel and I loved your confidence and serenity when transmitting your knowledge. Congratulations. Greetings from Santiago de Chile.
Thank you, Elizabeth, and I send you warm Greetings from the USA all the way to Santiago de Chile!
I love your videos. I especially like the comments about your willingness to learn. "Every day is a school day"
Hello Giovanna, how I simply adore everything Italian. It takes me 2 days to make my lasagna, and the bolognese sauce I make is similar to yours, except I grate the carrot, and also add a diced capsicum. I use red wine. Have never added cream. I’ll try it😀my freshly grated nutmeg goes into my bechmel sauce. However I understand also cooking with meat. It enhances the flavor. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and love of cooking. Much love and hugs. ❤️🇮🇹 ❤From Australia.
Wow, very nicely done❤fantastic outstanding performance, really amazing. Excellent work👍 well done👍💯 enjoyed very much, my friend❤
Just want to say I love watching you. I never met my grandmother from Palermo but I can imagine she might have been like you.
Hi Giovanna, I just wanted to say I recently found your channel and I wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Your teaching breaks everything down in such a lovely way. My great grandparents originated from Itri, and sadly when they came to the United States we lost a lot of our traditions. It's so nice to find a piece of ourselves again. I tried your olive bruschetta recipe last night, and it was amazing! You're so lovely and sweet! 😊
HiGiovanna greetings from the south coast of Ireland and it’s wonderful to meet you. The algorithm decide I needed to watch you channel. I’m already looking forward to trying you sauce. Thank you 🙏 Philip
Dear Philip, I feel connected to your beautiful Country; I was born in Sicily, and I see so many similarities between Ireland and Sicily. Both are islands, the people of both countries are great storytellers, lovers of music, and I noticed with pleasure the landscapes in Ireland with the fields enclosed by beautiful stone walls like the ones in Sicily. Both Sicily and Ireland have produced great writers , out of proportion to their populations, in Italian and in English with Nobel Prize laureates among them. My Husband Howard's Mother was Irish, so, our daughter has genes from both Islands!
First time viewer... I love that she's teaching us how to make a timeless traditional dish and uses new tools, some for the first time. This is a master...
Italy is so beautiful, the food is so incredibly good. The people i met were so friendly and generous. The scenery is very breath taking. I sure miss Gaeta. I met many wonderful people there. I tried my first real pizza. So much tastier than American pizza. My friend who is from Italy said its in the preparation and the way the veggies are grown. He imports his tomatoes from Italy for his dishes. His brother will say manger! Manger! I tell him i cannot i am enjoying the flavors, and my imaginary journey back to Italy. I did have my eyes closed, and i will say, they found this amusing and thought i was asleep 😂
I can only share and thank you for your enthusiasm for Italy and things Italian!
Such a wonderful, succint and delicious recipe! Thank you so much!
I always look forward to your videos. I love making all the recipes that you put out. Thank you so much
Love that you adopt new tech. I do the same! I love traditional recipes…but does not mean that we do use the newest technologies to make preparation easier.
Everything is beautiful grandma ❤
Really love watching your cooking shows beautiful. God bless🇬🇧
Love your channel Giovanna. I make my bolognese a little different. I add whole milk first before the wine and let it absorb then I add red wine then the tomato sauce. I love that meat separator tool, does the job.
Home cooks personalize their recipes!
Thank you so much and may God continue to bless you abundantly this Christmas!
Brings me right back to cooking with my grandma
I’m delighted to bring back memories of your beloved Nonna!
Hi Giovanna. I have recently found you by chance and subscribed right away. I love Italian food .being Maltese our food is very similar and we as Maltese have adopted and copied a lot of Italian cooking. Watching Italian television since I was a child have made me very familiar to italian food and costumes which I really like. Unfortunatly Although we are very close to Italy I have only visited Sicilia a couple of times and naples once but one day I wish to go further up north. Keep giving us nice recipes and Thank-you. ❤from Malta 🇲🇹
I only recently discovered you have your own channel. So glad, I love your cooking style, the things you make and your lovely kitchen and house!

I do like it as much as you do!
Fancy nona! Mille grazie!
Thank you so much! I really want to make this. I have one of those mashers and if you press down and turn it a pinch it works like a dream! ❤
Fixed this for the family tonight over some fettuccini, my 10 year old ate it like he was feral, he loved it! Thank you for sharing!
Hiding the vegetables inside the Bolognese something never changes ... thank you. Stumbled over this channel and will soak everything in.

I sub all your great recipes with plant based meat, etc, thank you. My grandma was from Naples and I lost her in ‘87. I miss her everyday. She owned 2 restaurants in California.

I am happy to report that my empty San Marzano can is securely placed by my cook top with at least 1 wooden spoon it it at all times. The bolognese sauce was delicious! Thank you for the video.
Thank you for this video, it's perfect to follow along to. I usually make my sauce with red wine but will try this with white wine and cream. Wishing you all the best.
The cream makes the sauce a lovely pink which distinguishes it from other sauces.
