I remember riding this train with my uncle in 1962 - and then again with my children in 1996. Both were thrilling rides and as this video so vividly shows - had just absolutely stunning scenery at every turn of the wheel.
I remember riding this train back in the 1970's. My grandpa Goff lived their in Silverton back then. He payed for my sisters and I to ride from Durango to Silverton. I really miss my Grandpa and visiting Silverton every Summer as a kid. Oh the memories, thank you.
I took that train ride years ago. The video captures a lot but I think that the awe inspiring beauty needs to be experienced first hand. My father and mother's families are from near there.
What a GREAT ride. I was there 2 years ago with a friend from NM. Loved every moment, bump, and jiggle of it!!! I hope it's still there when I get the chance to do it again.
I've ridden this several times. The first time was in the late 1960s when they still had tram and bus seats in some of the cars, and some cars still had potbelly stoves for heat. I was in about 1st or 2nd grade, and my folks made sure that i was wearing an elastic strap to hold my glasses on, since the frames were still of that glass-like substance that was heavy and kept trying to slide off of my face. Loved Silverton and the ride. Nice vid!!
Hats off to the crew that maintains that line, simply stunning

Great video. I admire all the workers who made that railroad.

This train ride was a real thrill. Thank you so much for sharing!
I am a South African and loved this "train ride" experience. Beautiful scenery and the towns of Louis LaMoore novels.
On my bucket list. Stunningly beautiful scenery and awesome historical train.
Thanks for sharing. My son and I enjoyed it and hope to be there in about seven weeks! We can't wait!!
Love this ! Was in Durango a few years ago, but the steam train was closed at that time.
