5:09 "Shin Kikōhō" This is actually the upgraded version of the Kikōhō. The Kikōhō uses up internal energy reserves/life energy and can potentially kill the user (like when he used it against Nappa, and the original DB also established that fact), making it inherently more powerful than the Kamehameha, and this version is even more powerful than that. That's why he was able to hold Cell back for as long as he was. Also, Tien's constant training has probably put him further ahead than people realize.
I think he only blasted Cell two or three times with it total in the real series.

Fun Fact: The Time Chamber does actually take time out of your life when you stay in there. We just don't see much affect happen to the Sayians because once they reach adulthood, they don't show any aging until they reach their 70s or 80s in which old age will hit them HARD!
And the only other person we ever really see use it at all is Piccolo. And if Kami and Guru are anything to go on, Namekians can live for hundreds of years.

Regardless of that though, I don't think he's yet even 20 in the Cell Saga, and Namekians can live for hundreds of years. So regardless of a wish, or lack thereof, he's got plenty of life left in him to visit the Hyperbolic Time Chamber unfazed.

Honestly, DBZA gave him the respect he deserved. This was such a hype moment.
It's funny that Tien is considered human, when he had three eyes.
I've met people with one eye before but never three.
I mean you're not wrong but I think a lot of people forget Tien kicks Super Buu in half later. It's not as dramatic and it was a sneak attack but hey, more than most people managed. It will always irritate me that Krillin gets the strongest human title. Krillin never measured up while Tien only fell behind because he got stiffed on teachers.

@@frankficcle7081Goku was considered a human with a monkey tail. And I believe tha humanoid animals in Dragonball are considered humans as well. So Three eyes is far from being a criteria that makes you not be a human in the Dragonball world^^
In the original, Semi-Perfect Cell almost had 18 fooled by using 17's voice. But Cell made the mistake of saying that they can fulfill Gero's ambitions, which 18 knew was a lie because they hated Gero for what he did to them.
I love how after Vegeta's monologue, Goku is just happy for (someone he considers) his friend and that pisses Vegeta off even more

In the show, he actually holds Cell down for like a whole couple episodes. In the manga, I might be wrong here but he holds Cell down for HOURS, literally draining his life force.

Tien was amazing in this episode. He's just so done with the power scaling, so he'll just fight and irritate whoever he doesn't like.
The bit of Vegeta being stronger than Goku is great 😂 he literally surpasses Goku in this part and Goku's response is just "Neat" 😂😂

If I remember correctly the hyperbolic Time chamber was created using the Dragon balls, the further away you get from the main hub door, the more intense the fluctuations become.
Training in there basically takes a year off of your life because you live out the year inside there in one day outside.
Sayings are able to take full advantage of it since they have a longer youth cycle in their lifespans. Allowing them to keep in physical form well into their sixties or seventies I can't remember exactly. Goku at the end of super is I think in his fifties and still looks like he's in his late 20s/early 30s.
When Goku became a Super Saiyan God, his body changed to look like he was younger.
And remember in the broly movie, paragus was older. But his body looked like he could still still throw down without breaking a hip.
sayains stay in there prime until reaching 80 which once the reach 80 old age hits them hard

This is my favorite episode until 60, all because of Tenshinhan's last epic moment in the entire franchise. To this day, I have that going through my head.

ITS TIME! Tien’s so cool in this episode, the absolute will to get things done even if he can’t do much. Absolute respect for the man. Last cool thing he does but damn is it cool! Favourite episode by far
05:36 I watched this scene many times but I finally remember what it reminds me of. In Budokai Tenkaichi, when you have to fight Great Ape Vegeta as Goku and survive for a certain amount of time, I could never do it as a kid. Until I realized that the battle starts you off with enough energy to do a Kamehameha.
So I did one as soon as the battle started which knocked him down, then I immediately began charging ki, and got just enough by the time Vegeta got back up and I sent off another Kamehameha immediately. I did that over and over until the time ran down and I won.
LETS GO SHIN KINKOHO this is such a good episode tien is so awesome like I said before

There's a fan comic that has Tien have his own transformation on par with Super Saiyan and makes him like some Buddist Diety with extra pairs of arms and I think heads, pretty sure it's heads and it was that he and other fighters like Krillin don't need to be Saiyans to get to their level of power, it's a really amazing way to respect our potential as humans especially for them.
I believe 6:00 'Nettled' comes from stinging nettle... A common weed that is like poison ivy, but makes a good tea if you boil it.
Anyway... you'd be nettled too if it was your job to dig through itchy thorny weeds.

I have been waiting for this episode for a long ass time, I just wanna see both of their reactions (especially Kirby since she hasn't watched it yet) of Tien mess with Cell with his Tri-beam
Tien actually holds Cell off for like, 3 hours in the show, that's 3 full hours of firing all cylinders non stop to keep cell busy

“Come with me if you want to live” is from the Terminator franchise, which fits since he is an Android
And the Terminator says that to Sarah Connor in the second one, before trying to save her from a bigger threat, so even the scenario is pretty similar.

Fun fact: In the final saga of DBZ, which TFS have chosen not to do, EVERYONE dies except for Mr. Satan. INCLUDING Chi Chi. So Chiaotzu's line to her "give it some time, you're hanging with the right crowd" is VERY on point. Also, since I doubt either of you know this, Master Roshi died in the original Dragonball anime at the hands of Demon King Piccolo (who is Piccolo's dad...kind of sort of). Well either him or one of his underlings.

This is probably the greatest proof that the whole power level thing is BS, something Tien actually calls out. Since his training with King Kai he was even able to go toe to toe with members of the Ginyu force. His power level in numbers is minuscule here yet with his training he was able to hold back cell. He might not be able to do damage, but the technique was able to hold him.
Also, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber can only be used for a total of 2 days (2 years), any longer and you become trapped in the room.

Respect
God I love the Tri-Beam Cannon (which is what the Kikoho is known as in the dub). When you consider how weak Tien is compared to everyone else, who at that point are all drastically weaker than Semi-Perfect Cell, the amount it did to Cell implies it's an insanely powerful technique, far surpassing the Kamehameha so ridiculously that I don't understand why Goku never learnt it, at least as a final desperate move.
Like, the drawback to the Tri-Beam is that it literally saps away your lifeforce in order to utilise, and Goku dies more than anyone else, and the senzu beans heal you from it anyway, so... yeah.
I mean, I get it, because it would be utterly OP if someone as powerful as Goku used it, like a Spirit Bomb that doesn't need time to build up, but still.
People Really don't know Tien was literally giving up years of his life to hold off cell. Hes literally the strongest human
You’re actually not wrong Kyle about losing some of your life in the time chamber. You stay in the chamber for a year but in the real world only day has pass, so you actually lose a year of your life every time you go in the time chamber.
My favorite part of Chiaotzu telling Chi Chi to give it some time is that she dies in the next saga.

The moment that first SHIN KIIIKOOOOOHHOOOOOOO impacted and SPC's reaction came to mind during the Ganandorf Vs Dracula fight when Dracula unleashed the Holy Nuke on Ganon.

the mis-number with the ki-ko-ho that people mistake stems from og dragonball
in og dragonball it was stated to take a 3rd of your life span because of how powerfull it is
however it was later established/implied that the stronger you are, the better your body can withstand incredibly powerfull techniques
so while most people think that 3rd of your lifespan thing was a lie or just retconned, truth is, the characters just got so strong that while such of move is still severely draining on your life, you can handle it better.

TFS made Tien so freakin cool. His whole speech to Cell before he unleashes that first Kikoho and his back talk to Cell is the definition of badass
Tien didn't damage Cell. He didn't physically hurt him with the Shin Kikōhou.
He stun-locked him. Tien juggled this man Cell for a good 7 hours with the Shin Kikōhou.

The reason the Chamber is so deadly is *because* it's the ultimate infinite training grounds-- the gravity and temperature both rise the further from the entrance you get, and there *is* no end. You can go out into 30,000 times earth's gravity out there. That, and there's only enough food for one person to eat well-- meaning when two go in together, they don't have a massive amount of food.

7:18 Completely irrelevant to the abridged, but I literally JUST noticed that Tenshinhan still has the scar on his chest that Tao Pai Pai gave him during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai. I went and skimmed the manga, and shockingly enough, Toriyama actually remembered to continue including the scar every time Tenshinhan is shown.
For someone who gets a bad rep for his general lack of logic & consistency in storytelling, I'm genuinely impressed that such a small detail managed to never slip Toriyama's mind.

@@theduckgoesmoo Not like that's hard to accomplish, but yeah it's quite funny to a good amount of people. they are 9 episodes through the series and also have many shorts that are canon to the abridged a thing about trying to find every animation error and lots of other videos about how hgs is great as a tool to teach you what not to do for creating a show etc.

@@matthewcorrie3324 Oh I love it. the first episode is a little rough as they weren't sure if it would be a one time thing or not but they kept going and its funny. they turned it into a comedy show. I'd say more but i dont wanna do spoilers. although for reference they got 17k subscribers to their channel. I dont think the hgs reddit even has 1k. i know that's youtube to reddit but reddit had years ahead of time to build an audience and their product company.
Fun Fact: The android 17 projection from Semi-P Cell is how they were originally going to write him.
