Man... This scene hits differently when your almost 40 and your own kids are finishing up school and moving on with their own lives. Roshi just broke my heart.

A huge change indeed. I'm now 21 and will be on my own soon, alongside my other siblings around my age. It's really something, one day I was a kid and now the next, I'm an adult.
Born in 87. I don’t have any kids of my own but I played the father role to a lot of kids who didn’t have one just like Roshi did for Goku and Krillin. For my birthday, my wife threw a party and had everyone who attended write me kind notes. One my “adopted” daughters, I knew it was her by her hand writing wrote to me “You make a difference in the lives of everyone you meet including myself, thank you for all you’ve done for me. I’m so glad I met you”. This was after she has wished me a happy Father’s Day and thanked me for being an awesome Dad in her life. So many of my kids have grown up and have become more successful than me and I truly wouldn’t have it any other way. The mark of a good Dad is wanting your kids, whether they came from you or to you is to be greater than yourself.

Master Roshi, silently enjoying the moment. Treasuring each second. Knowing full well that Goku has passed. Trying hard not to shed a tear. Knowing that Goku has minutes before he goes away. Master Roshi, silently acknowledge that this will be the last time they see Goku.
Small aside, Goku didn't die. He basically achieved enlightenment and couldn't stay in the world anymore. It's more of a, my people need me moment. You'll notice he never got the halo. He's probably like the precursor to the angels and gods of destruction.

Goku was basicaly the living dead during last fight as he stopped the nega ball with his very life force but cant die stands up throws spiritball then dies when the world is right again. Then shenron revives him says your the reason this happened and boom goku is kidnaped to be a guardian of the balls.
Sorta. It basically follows the story of Sun Wukong at the end of his journey he achieved enlightenment.

Maaaaaan the fact that Roshi doesn't say anything here breaks me. He knew this was gonna be the last time they were there together and he just stood there and memorized the moment. It sucks Krillin didn't get to say Goodbye but maybe it isn't Goodbye, just, see you later.
I mean, Krillin will die and see him eventually.

It takes from Taoism and Zen Buddhism, a person never completely "ceases to be". Whether they're in the next plane of existence (afterlife), brought back, or reincarnated, they'll always technically exist. Just about every character that has died in DBZ is still shown to exist, even Dabura who was technically Satan and becoming a good spirit, or Kid Buu being reincarnated as Uub. And with the DragonBalls, gods, and various other ways to come back or continue existence, Goku could always return if the plot said so. Not because he himself is immortal.
@@Shadows_Inc No he’s literally immortal. He can’t die at the end of GT. You can’t compare that to anything currently in GT. He became the guardian of the dragon balls. If he was dead, then he wouldn’t be allowed to come to the world of living. That’s an ultimate rule in DB. There are no GoD or angels in GT.
@Shadows_Inc Yes it does when you die in DB universe its either hell or the other place. If you watched any of the movies you'd see their existences. Goku is apart of Shenron and is now immortal. He made a promise to shenron. His spirit doesn't exist in hell or the other place for him to live in.

Goku returning to Kame house at the end brings back memories of everything that happened through DB, DBZ, GT, and Super. I'm glad to have been a fan throughout Goku's journey!

I think what's sad for krillin was that he didn't get to say goodbye, because that would be the last time he would ever see his childhood best friend... God this ending is so sad, nostalgic, wholesome, and absolutely beautiful... Seeing Krillin so old, but Goku giving him 1 last fight for old times sake, Roshi there seeing what are basically his sons having a go for 1 last time... I can't watch this scene without tearing up, and it gets harder the older I get...
But he finally beat Goku. Not many could say that.

Now that Im older and see it differently, this scene is even sadder. Krillin was Goku’s best friend and rival for the longest time… until Vegeta. When vegeta showed up he replaced Krillin as Goku’s rival. Krillin could only watch as Goku moved on from him. And at the very end Goku went and gave him one last fight. Not vegeta, Krillin. Makes me cry like a baby
Goku and krillin is an example of an friendship that lasts forever
Krillin was the reason Goku was first able to acheive Super Saiyan
Seeing moments like this… really makes it hard to accept that one day the journey will be over and the story of goku and all of his friends will one day be forgotten
I dont think Goku will be completely forgotten. Somebody made a character that influenced Goku's creation. Goku will influence another great character in the future. And the cycle will repeat. Kind of a way of being immortalized.

This made me realize how old I've gotten. I grew up with goku and krillin. Literally. Started watching this show as a kid of 6 years old...now I'm 33...man...this one hit me so hard in the feels.
Same for me, 33 next month.
Ain't no doubt I started when I was 10 and am now 35 and have had 3 kids who I have now turned them on to the show and have gotten to watch it all again and realize the same thing that I have grown up with them and have had kids along with them. Shit def hits different. You know it's a good show and writing when a cartoon about fighting makes you feel that way. Gt has a lot of emotional moments like this, and for me made it one of the more memorable series

Roshi stood there to respect their life long friendship. Where it all started and it lasted the entire franchise. That's a true friendship.
The saddest part though, if it wasn't for frieza killing Krillin in the Frieza Saga. Goku would have never reached his Super Saiyan form.

It does break my heart to see the things I've loved die, no matter what they are. Shows that were made by brilliant minds, in different times, now have just about all died off. My roots nearly full grown, and I'm suddenly watching this generation we are forced to watch, kill all that's left.
It's hard watching things from times that use to make sense, be dead, gone, and all but nearly forgotten.

GT gave us the only ending Dragon ball deserves an emotional one marking the end of the journey no matter how shit it was the ending was perfect especially since most of the fandom agreed with geekdom assessment on the ending. Now I kinda understand kid goku for GT but imo it would only make sense at the end of the story. Master roshi, bulma and vegeta I think were the only ones who knew goku wasn’t coming back anytime soon.
Anybody notice how in GT everybody was slightly aged while krillin was turned into a senior citizen
Most shows you don't spend months watching a person live their entire life, from childhood to death. Any that do do this aren't particularly long, just like movies that try the same thing. Dragonball is so long that, if watched regularly and in it's entirety, becomes a small yet regular part of your life. It's like a short lived pet that keeps you company every single spare moment you feel like, and then fades away when finished.
This is very profound and touching to watch. If and when DBS ends and the whole story wraps, it would be cool if Goku and Krillin have a moment like this one.
How proud you must be to train the worlds strongest human and the universes strongest mortal.

As a kid I adored GT. I watched it over and over. As I'm older now I see it has flaws. Yet I still can't shake the love for the show. It made me smile. I'll never forget how heartbroken I was during the scene. I watched OG Dragonball before anything, so I feel such a connection with this scene. It always makes me tear up.
Master roshi new goku was leaving for what was probably the final time and just let his students enjoy there last moments with a friend definitely proud of both them

They made Goku too stupid, and changed everything about the characters we love in super, Vegeta had so much good character development, until super was like " let's try to turn you back to the Saiyan you once were" hell Vegeta in GT is how Vegeta should've been, he likes fighting and being on the battle field but being with his family comes first, but in super Vegeta keeps on pulling a Goku and leaving his family randomly just to train with whis and beerus because he wants to be stronger than kakarot. I don't know, to me that kills a lot of the character development. And I admit GT wasn't perfect but how the characters were, that's how they were suppose to be. It was suppose to end with Vegeta being a family man, caring about his family more than fighting. Goku training Uub and then going away to help protect something else. Gohan being strong but he's still a scholar more than anything WHICH IS HOW GOHANS CHARACTER IS SUPPOSE TO BE. People are wanting toriyama to shit on who Gohans character is suppose to be because they want Gohan to be stronger than Goku and Vegeta which makes no sense for his character considering Gohan doesn't like to fight! I don't know, super just seems too chaotic with it's story telling, and nothing makes sense. Yeah Z and GT had plot holes but damn it took me years to even figure out there was plot holes in those shows when I first watched them. But every time I sit to watch an episode of super, I get like halfway through it and I have to turn it off because it ruined the story and all the characters I loved. Especially Goku, Goku is naive not retarded, there's a difference.

I used to watch Dragon ball alot back when i was child, Then as i grew older i started to forget about it, It was really the show that made me who i am, Seeing this breaks my heart bringing back all the memories.
DAMN! Roshi demeanor, just let's his students have their moment, it hits so hard, the chills was so much that I got up and walk around, the feels!
This ending in actual English dub the one with grand tour as intro was the most emotional I ever got for a anime ending. I was 13 at the time and it was before gt started airing on TV. I had a Chinese shop next to where I lived and he sold tons of anime long before they aired on television.

I will always love GT. It paid homage to the origins of the series bringing back many OG characters, brought Goku's tail back, gave us some awsome battles and tranformations and managed to wrap up both the tale of Goku and the Dragon Balls. For me, it is a great ending to an awsome anime.
