- Chloë Sevigny and Javier Bardem talked to “Extra” about portraying José and Kitty Menendez in “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” They reflected on the responsibility that comes with portraying real people - particularly when the public has a lot of opinions about them. Javier also reacted to Erik criticizing the series as inaccurate, saying he respects his feelings and emphasizing that the show tells the story from a variety of different perspectives. Chloë agreed that the Erik, Lyle, and the family have a right to give their opinion and said she’s looking forward to the Netflix documentary. “Monsters” is streaming on Netflix.
Whether people think the show was like the real story or not, you gotta give every single actor credit for their brilliant performances. They all did so amazing.
Absolutely agree.
Hated the show but if you look at the performances by each actor weather badly depicted by Ryan Murphy they all did great with the what was on the script. Javier made me believe he was Jose as well as Cooper playing Erik
@@nikkoramirez2695 Cooper was outstanding.
100% agree. The acting was so incredible particularly the main characters. As dark and disturbing as the material was and believe me I had to take breaks from the episodes-- I still had to see it through because it was so magnetizing.
It was very well done love the Milli Vanilli soundtrack😂.
Unbelievable and award worthy acting!!! ❤
That moment she fell on the kitchen floor… only to pull herself back up for the wine bottle…. Amazing!
Bardem as usual when he's on screen absolutely dominates....the guy is an incredible actor
why did'nt the writiers talk with Lyle and Erik?
Because they don’t care about the truth.
they don’t care about them all they want is fame n money
They were presenting different viewpoints that existed when this case occurred. This is what people do not understand.
@@TheTruthSpeaks-j7d That is why they had to talk to the brothers in first place.
@@MrZavalon74 Not necessarily. I think Ryan was trying to portray the views of how the public saw this case not how the brothers saw the case.
1:50 “allegedly”, ridiculous, it DID HAPPEN. Why are these people so reluctant to say the abuse DID happen?
I hate to be that person, because i belive the brothers as well, but in all reality.. «allegedly» is the right phrase, as we’ll never know for sure.
There were kid corn photos of the brothers taken and kept by both parents. These were presented at the trial. These actors should be ashamed of themselves for defending child rapists
@@GerlardTheSeaLionwe do know for sure because there was evidence presented at the trial
@@MidnightRain111. Oh, I hate child corn. Chinese food.
@@GerlardTheSeaLion there's plenty evidence tho, the way ppl are so reluctant to call it what it is (r4pe, child abuse) make it seem like u just gotta take their word for it when in reality it's basically proven that they were abused
Is it just me, or do they look like they could be siblings?
Me too… they look so similar. They didn’t look like a married couple onscreen.. they looked more like siblings..
Tammi was in her forties and Erik was in his 20’s when she targeted him. There is a huge age gap. I think Erik married his mother because Tammi looks like Kitty and Tammi was married to a pedophiler named Chuck Saccoman who was sleeping with Tammi’s older daughter and she said she suspected it but did not say anything just like Kitty who was married to a pedo named Jose and she knew Jose was sleeping with their older son. See the similarities
i just think chloë is really pretty
Love her in everything...❤
To me the series was pretty clearly stating that we will never know the entire truth and that all events were interpretations of each persons point of view. It's clearly fiction with sprinkles of truth.
Love both of these people fire
great acting!
Ryan Murphy should be jailed for turning their tragic story into one of his sick gay fantasies
Javier carried the whole series. What an actor, kudos.
The guy who played Erik did.
@@SupriyaANNikolas Chavez wasn’t bad either! All good!
They were amazing✨👌🏻
crazy still saying “alleged” about something you can clearly look into and see other professionals opinions on what happened… disappointing they didn’t do any research before taking these roles
They have to if they don't want to get sued. Very common.
Totally agree. I think people are misinterpreting it. It’s not a documentary. The films did not present much of the story as absolute truth. It's presenting what people think about it.
That's the hallmark of the case; hystetical public opinion whipped up by media and most of it the product of wild imagination.
We're left none the wiser at the end of it, and that's how it should be. Only the people who were there know what did and didn't happen.
Monsters The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story Is So Very Incredible !
Jose did not have an accent, he came and to the US very young there is video of him talking, no accent
Relax
This quite literally doesn’t matter at all
Many people intentionally hide their accents. Maybe he's older and more secure in himself and his career and no longer wants to hide it.
He absolutely did have an accent! There’s an old clip of him being interviewed on RUclips
In the video of him talking there’s a clear accent
Very good performances
Wish Javier hadn't dyed his hair ... be grey and be beautiful
Chloe Sevigny is an amazing actress!!!!!!!!!!!!
These questions are so bad. Who writes these questions?
0:15 the world had obsessed with ? 😂 which world ?
The exploitive nature of this and other Ryan Murphy projects that I've watched makes me feel dirty for having done so. I could only get through 1 + 1/2 episodes of this one. As usual, the performances are good but how anyone has the gall to defend this type of project against words of the actual victims who know the actual truth, is beyond me.
My beloved Javier Bardem, you are a professional but i humbly urge you with all respect of your work do not fend Ryan Murphy. Ryan Murphy disrespected the brothers completely. Ryan only focused to fufill his own perception and fantasy of just one person and that is Erik.
So my utmost respectful actor Javier Bardem, let this be The last film you ever did with Ryan Murphy. Ever!!!! I love you wholeheartedly and with 100% respect don't take another role of Ryan Murphy. Just don't!
Extremely disappointing that two acclaimed actors would take part in explicit defamation and slander of two boys who were victims of parental abuse and rape from a young age. This is a non-fictional story which the boys further victimised within society and such a broken justice system by getting life without parole following their honest accounts from so much childhood trauma. The accounts of exploitation are unimaginably painful, only to then have these two wealthy actors putting out a distorted misrepresented account simply for profit. Shame on them for their lack of humanity
I think Ryan Murphy did amazing as he does with every project. I was affected by it.
Javier deserves an award for that role, he was scary and so powerful, really amazing performace.
I was a small child and I was invested in the case.
Javier made the father really lovable. Even the mental “abuse” scenes seemed to come from a place of love. I grew up in a deeply abusive home. Real abuse (in my opinion) comes from a deep hate of the child.
@@MaverickSteffen Javier has worked on many films with the greatest Director of all time Almodovar whose themes are very similar to this. Nothing is black and white. I urde you to watch " Talk to her " a masterpiece. It turned my view of things upside down.
perfect casting!!
The fact that I hate these people confirms what a brilliant job they did. Outstanding!!! My God. What a cast.
Kitty 💖💕💕💕
We can argue that it was a horrific crime and that these kids were just spoiled brats however there is evidence of abuse not sure the degree of abuse that was never really proven. The argument for me is that they were old enough just to move the fuck out and go on about their lives. They weren’t little kids and they weren’t young teenagers
I was very impressed with how well this was done and blown away by the Milli Vanilli soundtrack thought that was an awesome touch
The more I hear about these boys in the movie and out of the movie they deserve to be free.If OJ got off so can these guys.
Why I honestly did not recognize him. He looks so different for the role.
They look great and the acting was top notch
It wasn’t a documentary. It’s all about entertainment. These actors only care about getting paid. I’d have more respect for them if they would just come right out and say that. Heck even documentaries are half fake.
usually actors care about being paid because they´re workers.
Amazing performance!!!
Bardem is so hot !! 😊
They were great in the acting
Javier bardem se llevó esa serie
Shaun Plaza
They were not “boys”. That was a term their attorney used to elicit sympathy. They were over 18 and were young men who put time and effort in the murders of their parents.
Ryan Murphy should do JonBenét Ramsey. But, her father and brother are sue happy so it might not work 🤔
The series is campy and focused too much on the abuse when everyone knows it never happend. The real story was the mom.
ur late to the party we know the abuse happened bc guess what there's proof.
assume that the detail of the abuse is true, I actually think the show didn't show enough. out of 9 episode, they really didnt show much
If only the parents survived and were able to give this interview too. Those brothers lied. Norma Novelli busted them out that part wasn’t just added in the series for “show” it really happened. She recorded him admitting to fake crying on the stand and everything else. “The Abuse Excuse” all of you defending them should be ashamed. You guys will believe anyone who sheds tears “🥺”. They woulda been crying laughing “🤣” rich 💰 had Norma Novelli not busted them out to the public and they got away it.
He talks for way too long
I did not like these actors, no good. The monsters there were the father & mother of the menendez family. The 2 sons are just victims of terrible abuse, not that murder is justified, but imagine their life! It is so complex, but anyway, these actors, so boring, so meh... I am also a Spanish speaker, & in Almodovar films I used to like Bardem, but now he seems bored, no spark. Her, well, same... That is my own opinion...
???? what tf are you talking about
It's this thing called a double meaning. Lyle and Eric are monsters because they killed their unarmed parents and lied about their deaths. Kitty and Jose are monsters because of the horrid abuse they did to their children (and likely others, if what that one guy from Menudo says is true).
@@soren7550 Yes, sure, I understand. I´m not saying killing is an aswer, but the case of these 2 brothers is incredibly complex y terribly sad, including abuse, rape, hittings, belittling... the list goes on... & that guy from Menudo, whose name is Roy Rosselló, 51, alleges he was drugged and raped as a teen by late Hollywood executive Jose Menendez... In spanish we have a saying, "si el rio suena es porque agua lleva", meaning "if it sounds like it, it must be true"... Again, just my own opinion
your own opinion comes from a total lack of knowledge
i swear i remember true story of a sister & brother in one country were in love sexually , when their parents discovered them , their kids killed them , i sooo believe the story in the series , i dont believe the father abused them sexualy
