How big is the float valve in your hand? i have a very small sump and dont think it will fit. Can I put in in the reservoir insted if not plumbed to rodi? Later if I decide to plumb to my rodi could I still use any of the cheap ones and add the solenoid. I cant afford a tunze and TBH I dont want alarms waking me in the middle of night because I have insomnia so thinking of getting a cheapie from amazon with no alarms. Do I need a syphon break? If it dosnt have it can I add later? I only have 2 nanos so do I need tomake sure its specifically for a nano. I am worried pump maybe to strong. If I get a tunze used can I replace the motor with any motor or does it have to be a tunze one? Sorry so many questions. Thats why I havnt used one for 5 years! LOL. Tired of my skimmer not working because of water levels and also salinity swings!
I started with the Tunze Nano. Never again. Only the swimmer sensor, which can get stuck. Tons of cables. Pump barely fits into a 20 Liter PE canister. I replaced it with a AutoAqua SMART ATO NANO. AutoAqua is a subbrand under the D-D Group, the ATO is a little HoB unit that houses the pump and has an optical sensor. The canister only holds the hose and an intake filter, plus ideally, just outside of the canister, a small, mechanical shut off valve to keep the water in the hose when not actively pumping. Way quieter than the Tunze Nano pump. Only annoying thing is that without a tech compartment, snails can crawl onto it and toggle the pump.
Personally I really enjoy using the XP aqua Duetto2 latest version with the square sensor. Customer service is fantastic! BRS failed to speak about the redundancy of this unit. I wish they would have actually touched more on it. Only downside is that vinyl hose that comes with the ATO. I ordered food grade silicone tubing and it works fantastic. Nice and flexible and doesn't get hard like that other crap they install in the kit.
Both the RO Solenoid and AC Switch (to use a larger pump) options are also available with the Duetto2. Both accessories are plug and play and under $30. 😊

Tunze is garbage, this is why I never trust BRS reviews. SOOO many reported problems with them. Pump constantly stops working always at the worst time. Have to replug it in to get it to work. Why praise this model?
The reef breeder prism is excellent. Matthew always recommends it so that’s why I went with it. I’ve had it for several months and have zero issues.
