always have a fixed target of why you want to read Harrison to clear a exam or to gain knowledge....to clear a exam know what you should read....keep 5 things in mind about any ds 1 clinical features 2 investigations 3 treatment 4 images read twice and make notes either audio notes or written....you can frame 20 to 30 qstns about a topic and make notes before reading harrison have broad idea about a disease through RUclips videos or ward cases. always read a topic twice😃
Sir I am dr Arijit Saha , doing my MD RADIATION ONCOLOGY in AIIMS. For my Neet SS examination I have to prepare Medicine from harrison. Your video was really helpful ... thank you so much sir
Thanks for the video, very helpful! I've just sat my MBBS final exams, using Oxford Handbook as my study guide. Tried several times to break into Harrison's during undergraduate degree but always left feeling I hadn't learned very much. Moving into postgraduate years, looking forward to trying again with the aim of supplementing by base knowledge from Oxford Handbook.
I used harrisons in my 3rd year mbbs to just study the important topics for UG FINAL MBBS exam as well as commonly seen cases in the ward, and highlighted the following things: disease intro/definition; Clinical features; Diagnostic tests; Treatment options. After my first read I was familiar with the basics of it. In my final year mbbs I opened the book again and directly made the answers for my final year exam in a condensed format and had the whole medicine syllabus questions done halfway through the final year. After this I only used to revise these concise summary in answer format and occasionally opened the book or added points from the clinical postings. But overall I found this to be the easiest and fastest way to read harrisons in UG! Note: I wasn’t targeting NEET PG so I didn’t have the burden of doing marrow etc. that seems to be on majority of the students. But imo if you study standard books such as harrisons out of interest, it becomes much easier to become a good UG physician and also easier to prepare for foreign exams!
