Funny to see the "old man" working with the newer equiptment while the son works with the classics. I always thought that it would be the other way around... 😉👍🏻
I recently bought a John Deere 970 because I watched all these homestead channels and I didn't have a small tractor. Now I use it all the time, love it 👍
That thing looked like it handled the thicker grass pretty well for a flail mower. Good to see Father and son getting together. Take care, have a good weekend.
Once I saw the "hammer" flails, I wasn't surprised at the job it did in the heavier going....Mower was equipped with "hammers" which are for the heaviest cutting. There are at least three options in "blades" for flail mowers. I have "grass" blades on mine...(the lightest of all) they don't like the woody stuff, but do a wonderful job on grass, leaving an evenly-distributed layer of grass clippings and a "lawn-mower" cut.
Awesome when your dad can come out and show great support. Love he is still on this earth. I am a practical man. I don't believe in 1 machine having multiple duties. Cause if my John Deere goes down. Yeah. I believe in those 61" are I turn for my cutting. Mutltiple string trimmers and tillers. Good work so far. Can't wait to see your place in full. Cows, start out with at least 3. Donkey for security.
Great video Evan, thanks to your Dad for sharing with us on testing the new flail mower. That was a pretty impressive job with it running on the smaller tractor . Great job both of you 👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Those are great tractors that your dad has, I have the one a little smaller 1026 r and there are endless upgrades you can get for them , I like the led lights ! Love your channel thanks
I bought the same mower back in March, but a bigger model. Hopefully he checked all the bolts and the belt tension before he started. They were all loose on mine and the tension on the belts wasn’t tight enough. However, I love it and it does a fine job of you go slow enough.
I bought the mid duty model of the same size (EFG 135) with hammer blades. Are everything I could run over with my 1025R and didn’t have any problems. I had saplings that were thicker than 2”’ circumference. I prefer this over the Rotary Cutter when it comes to sampling and Trust me, let it Eat! Love the vid and I will post mine soon!
Thanks for the video, it might just be the camera angle but it looks like the lower hitch points don't have the clearance needed to be able to mount the mower without removing the pins. I'm guessing you could make some brackets to make the lower pins about two or more inches forward.
Love seeing your dad ,you totally have his cool and chill demeanor. Is there a reason why you planted so many chestnut trees and planning on planting more ?
JudithB That works really well! Nice gadgets to tie down too! I like mowing or bush hogging. Everything looks so clean and tidy for winter. We finally started splitting, but I havent started stacking so the driveway and carport cant be used. I am getting lazy in my old age and its definitely not good for me health wise!
That's great that your able to grow Chestnut trees. From what I understand from the past they all but disappeared from disease. Am I correct with that statement? My old house had Chestnut woodwork and when I needed to renovate a room no Chestnut available anywhere.
I've heard if he goes with the heavier hammers he can mow the heavier stuff easier. Maybe, in the future, if he wants he can get a second set of hammers and let the new ones be for the brush and heavy weeds and keep the ones you showed for just grass/ moderate cutting. And, maybe get a couple jacks for the back of his trailer so the tractor can't warp his trailer or pick the tires of the truck off the ground and cause an accident. Just a couple suggestions. Another good video. Thanks!
on the subject of old tractors... just to think you wanted to get rid of one of yours.... im glad you didnt.... me personally am finding out that i must keep my older stuff and fix it...rather buying new expensive stuff that is built to fail......thx ....cool vid.
Sounds like you may have a little tractor envy there, Evan! Having just bought a Kioti 2610 myself, having a newer tractor definitely opens up a world of possibilities. That cost, though. 😕
You look a lot like your dad! You could use sheep to eat the grass in between trees. They won't usually eat those. A electric fence and some meat growers! You could make exellent hay of that clover field next year. How are you going to fertilize all the land?
How does this mower differ from a bush hog? When loading and unloading a tractor , you can put 4x4 blocks under the back corners of trailer. Keeps the front of trailer from hiking up.😊❤️
As a general point of information, after you use a flail mower (with the proper scythes for the job...) you'll never go back to a rotary cutter. There are several good reasons for this. Do your research to find out more.
Couldn't the side or offset mounting with a higher mow height take out up to one inch trees or shrubs? The way it 'mulches' mowed material is pretty cool. Flail mowers can be used for no-till agriculture & knock down cover crops prior to planting. Suggest a grapple hook front end to help 'pick up' around the farm for the field edges. Daniel raves about how helpful it is for him (arms family). One point of observing tractor vlogs is how many implements& homestead tasks you need done. You guys seem to have most of the tools you need. What do you think would be a the top 3 implements to have (outside of a hay kit)? It always seems like just one more tool is going to make things 'better'.
I'm not a fan john deere but maybe that's just the Australian experience we've had but that is a nice little set up your dad has and nice to be able to kill two birds with one stone testing out the mower and having some grass cut
It's great to see that someone else has a great father like mine.
I'll bet your dad is pretty proud of his son
There is nothing more peaceful than an old timer on his tractor. Thanks for sharing.
You have to love it when someone else mows your lawn AND you get to look over your dad's new toys! Win-Win
Wow that is super awesome tall grass and doing it like a champ am surprised to be honest
Your local bee population must love all that clover.
Funny to see the "old man" working with the newer equiptment
while the son works with the classics.
I always thought that it would be the other way around... 😉👍🏻
True... I bet some them he had used the old equipmemt for decades. Getting tired of getting worked to death.
I just bought 1 last week and it wS the best investment.
Always nice to work with Dad.
Praise the Lord for Dad’s. It really looks good around the chestnut trees.
Amen to that, sister ...
thank you Evan for introducing your Dad to us
I have to say that I'm impressed with those ratchet straps.
Hi.... Country View Acres, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐕🐖🐈🌱🐐🎥👍👍👍
Dads always have the best toys!!!

Nice job with the flail mower, you should rake and bale the clover, for premium hay. Thanks
I have 18.8 pto hp tractor and have been looking all over the net to see if it would handle this flail mower. Thanks and great video
Flail mowers are better than any brush hog . Nicer cut . Glad to see that he got the the hammer blades . Great for cutting heavyier brush .
It is always nice when dad comes and gives the boy a hand
Good Afternoon Evan you are so lucky to still have your dad! I not he is very proud of you! God bless!
Awesome and wonderful dad helping you out, God bless
Love Pats Quick Hitch! Like that flail mower too. Good video, thanks!
Those hammer blades are designed to chop up brush. They have blades for grass. To adjust for the cutting height of the mower is done by the top link.

Nice to meet your Dad.
He has a nice little set up with that that was nice of him thanks for sharing this man
That is one nice Pa...
God bless him
Enjoy your time with dad! Sure wish I could have time with mine again!! God Bless you all
Nice to have clover patches around for the wildlife! Wasn't sure the mower/rig would get it!
Dad wanted Evan to understand, "I just wanted to test it out‼️"
😉😎
mower worked real nice.. property looks so good now
Your dad seems like a good man.
That was really cool of your dad to do that
Very nice little flail mower - just what we need!
Love your dad.
What a nice Dad. It’s a win win for you 🙂🙃❤️
Great video Evan, thanks to your Dad for sharing with us on testing the new flail mower. That was a pretty impressive job with it running on the smaller tractor . Great job both of you 👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good to see new video
I LOVE your property Evan, I think I'm moving in, back in your barn !!!!! lol, keep up the great work!
Hey, it was great seeing your dad, we'd love to invite him over for dinner but..............well, you know.
(and you don't seem lazy to me)
Those are great tractors that your dad has, I have the one a little smaller 1026 r and there are endless upgrades you can get for them , I like the led lights ! Love your channel thanks
Dads and their toys! Love it.
Man, you favor your Dad. Nice job on the flail mower.
Gotta love that 2025R. John Deere makes some of the best compact tractors, and they are extremely versatile. Maybe a sponsoshhip is in your future !
Love the new bling on pop's Tractor! :)
I bought the same mower back in March, but a bigger model. Hopefully he checked all the bolts and the belt tension before he started. They were all loose on mine and the tension on the belts wasn’t tight enough. However, I love it and it does a fine job of you go slow enough.
Enjoyed watching your video
Now your dad can come by once a month and make sure his mower is still working well. lol
Love your video y'all keep up the good work
That was a big help! cuts well
...lookin' good , stay safe and enjoy...
Nice setup
that flail mower is realy nice you need one of your own

Love your dads tractor ;) In fact I want the same one lol / dream on Lori dream on lol
Same thing as a green chooper that we use for chopping grass for the cows here in Wisconsin.

Your dad is smart GM truck and John Deere equipment lol
Is he really tying it down like that?!? Rookie!!!
Yep. That is Evan’s Dad! No doubts.
Perfect timing, looking at the FH EFGC-125 heavy duty 48” for my MF GC1705.
I have the 48" on my 2025r and it is all it can handle. A 53" could work but you'd have to go super slow.
rack and bail it,its good stuff
on the subject of old tractors... just to think you wanted to get rid of one of yours.... im glad you didnt.... me personally am finding out that i must keep my older stuff and fix it...rather buying new expensive stuff that is built to fail......thx ....cool vid.
It's nice to mow a couple times a year to keep trees, brush, thistles, goldenrod etc. from taking over.
Nice setup! I'd like to get an even smaller flail mower for my 1023e
Appreciate the video, as I've been considering a flail mower (vice a brush hog) for my Kubota 2601.
Sounds like you may have a little tractor envy there, Evan! Having just bought a Kioti 2610 myself, having a newer tractor definitely opens up a world of possibilities. That cost, though. 😕
That clovercwill ve good hay next year.
Chestnuts roasting by an open fire ... won't be long before you're singing that song in reality.
I noticed the front grill on the tractor was filling up with cut grass, maybe a deflector shield would help?
You look a lot like your dad! You could use sheep to eat the grass in between trees. They won't usually eat those. A electric fence and some meat growers! You could make exellent hay of that clover field next year. How are you going to fertilize all the land?
Ok I am no going to need to hate you! I want one in the worst way and can’t justify it
How does this mower differ from a bush hog? When loading and unloading a tractor , you can put 4x4 blocks under the back corners of trailer. Keeps the front of trailer from hiking up.😊❤️

he has the hammer blades you can also buy grass knives for finer cut on grass but the hammers are good enough
Is that 60” wide. I would love to have one too. Nice set up. Good you can be with your dad.
I have the 68 inch Bestco. It's just ok. I should have gone with the Woodmaxx.
Golf course tool for making light rough? Decent little implement where you dont need manicured grass. The bugs will appreciate it.
It’s cool to see how the flail mower does on that size of tractor! Can I ask why you don’t hay the area he just mowed? Love the videos!
Oh No he didn't sad its not going anywhere you know thats dangerous !!! please make sure he does it every time I don't want your dad to get hurt
Well now we know where you get your mechanical wizardry from .
Nice

On some of the pictures I thought you were mowing!!!
Time to rake it and bail it. 😎
As much as I like my tractor time, I have to admit if I wanted grass cut weekly I could do a lot with a modern zero turn in little time.
Me too. We will probably buy a zero turn next year.
Well google just told me people actually bale that clover lol. I just wondered if anyone ever did.
Dry out clover bail it up good feed
VALENTIN.
you can get smaller flail mowers for compact tractors
I'm not a fan john deere but maybe that's just the Australian experience we've had but that is a nice little set up your dad has and nice to be able to kill two birds with one stone testing out the mower and having some grass cut
"I'm pretty lazy ... " Now, he's doing comedy ...
What’s your plans for all the Chestnut trees?
