I saw him live, must have been in 91 or so, supporting Lenny Kravitz in Mannheim, Germany. He was alone on stage. Never had heard about him before. I will never (NEVER) forget his version of "When doves cry" he played that night, alone, using his guitar as a drum. Stunning, have been a fan ever since. All the best!
I saw Soul play with Keziah in 1993/4 in Moles club in Bath, Somerset. He's an awesome bass player. I have loved Keziah's 1st album for years, everyone I play it too loves it too. They all ask who is on bass.
Respect! The first track is "The Wisdom Behind the Smile (Cash)" - mega-blue-funk, with both slapped guitar from Keziah and bass from Soul (not by chance, watch out his pending ankh from Khem!). Both this and "Runaway" are from from his first album "Blufunk Is a Fact!". This guy is a Yoruba from Lagos (Nigeria) and was indeed very much influenced by the great Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the inventor of Afro Beat music, father of Femi and Seun I both saw live in Marseille and Toulouse, France.
I agree with you. I know these guys. and I did not say they don't exist, I had said there are not many, unfortunately, because this guy is brilliant ! living in London, the capital of music, I don't see many to be honest with you.
WOW ! Swing !! The guitar is a nylon-stringed Gibson Chet Atkins ! I have one too ! Great performance on a great guitar !! Greetz, guitarist Henk Keizer Holland / The Netherlands
what on earth is that guitar? It's like a semi hollow electric with an acoustic oval hole that probably eliminates unwanted noise caused by the very hard thumb picking. Great sound and use of the way
This man deserves so much more recognition than he gets!
I agree. Met him in 92 humble and magic on stage.. actually he is a genius
