  • Me and my big ideas... When I originally had the idea for this "Single Speed Summer Revival Tour" I figured I'd slap on some new tires, maybe some grips and call it a day. By the time I had finally stopped spiraling I had collected enough parts for a full rebuild, and the rest is RUclips history. I am the only one this happens to?
All said and done I'm actually pretty stoked on the new build and excited to start riding it and hopefully can rekindle my old love for the single speed hardtail mountain bike. What's old is now new again!
So to recap: I plan on doing a "ride local" video series this summer where I return to my old stomping grounds and do a full review of my favorite local trails. My thought process is if I am going to kick it old school with my trail riding then I should probably ride an old school bike. This bike is truly a symbol of my golden age of mountain biking. If I had to guess I'd say 2010-2016 was the window of the best riding of my life, but of course I'm hoping to revive that with this bike... wish me luck!

Shoot I pull my two toddlers with my rigid single speed Kona Unit. I did 19 miles yesterday pulling the kiddos.

Tan walls are just so nice looking! Mine should be here this week!

  • @MikeinCC

Shoulda taken another chain link out and moved the rear wheel in to accommodate. As it stands, your bike has little room for chain growth/stretch. Overall, incredible looking SS.

I have one too, kind of want to out a motor on it electric or gas, at the least get it fixed. Crank arm snapped in half, flexy crank arms not very stiff tbeu cut corners here

Why do you put your forks round the wrong way

  • @hardmtnbiker

I agree with the tan wall tires and wider rims is way better on a SS and any hardtail MTB. Amazing video on a retro rebuild, I just subbed.

  • @prison9865

your video was very very interesting. Good job

  • @trishaleaver3581

I believe that’s a Mid School bike:) old school would be anything 1999 or older. Loved my 1980s Redline BMX!!!!

  • @dgriffinm

Amazing, looks great Tan wall on Red

Awesome build! Pulled my old Nashbar 29er SS out recently to restore to ride again. The Rock Shock 80mm fork with the straight steer tube is the limiting factor. After searching for a 120mm fork I gave up and bought used Salsa Timberjack and converted to SS.

Great video! New subscriber here. I am 57 years young and started riding SS this year on a similar era Raleigh XXIX.

  • @havefunandbikestuff

Subscribed! Loved it, hahaha, I use the wtb volt saddle now. I was a romin Evo and power saddle guy from special previously. ...I'm upgrading my 2011 track bike to a tracklocross single speed so your vid popped in my algorithm. Anyhoo, subscribed..

Looking forward to your future videos with that on the trails! I had my rigid Karate Monkey 1x1 on the connector at So. Kettle today and it handled
