    I'm thinking that it may come to pass that the church in the U.S. may have to go underground, similar to what we've seen or heard about in some countries today. I'm not looking to start such a church, but I'm getting a sense that I should start looking for an existing home church. My hope is that in this series where you're addressing the various issues regarding home churches, that you'll be discussing how we go about finding an existing home church in our local community. Not just any home church, but one that shares the same beliefs that I do, one that is spirit filled, the fellowship is welcoming, and everyone is encouraged to participate..

    5 Prayers

    Thanks Matt! I was part of that crowd that blew up your last video 10 reasons... We were a rowdy crowd and had alot of questions. lol I hope we did not overwhelm you and know you can't get back to everyone. That would be a FT job. lol I like the 5 conversations part in this video. From my experience in home churches or "small groups," outreach to the surrounding community was pretty much non-existent. That was often the criticism of the bigger church is expecting people to come to church instead of going to them right where they are at. So the attractional model came about to attract them in. Then the creation of programs galore to keep them there and busy. So it became a ME centered church. If the house church does not correct some of the legitimate criticisms of the bigger church then your just bringing the church building concepts into a smaller house church.
    It just seemed like we huddled up in small groups or house church but did not do anything in the community and share the gospel. When it comes more about huddles instead of getting rid of self to reach others with the gospel and practical ways and solutions you can serve the community around you then you can easily get caught up in selfishness. We are not just hearers of the word but doers of the word. Much of the Acts church was outside among the people. Everyone needs Jesus! Its not about us but about Jesus and spreading the gospel. Lets not lose that!

      Wow! What a great comment C4J! This is spot on and many people are working to see that a better vision/version of house churches emerge that are faithful to God and His Word, active in loving and serving the community and in making disciples. These are people like KC Underground, Tampa Underground, Curtis Sergeant, Ying Kai, David Watson, Wolfgang Simson and MANY others...movements are reaching millions through house churches.

      @@revolutionofordinaries Thanks Matt! I came out of a megachurch so I know the issues I had with it and do not want to see the same mistakes repeated in the house church movement. I have heard of a few stories the reason a few left the house church and went back to the traditional church model was because atleast the house church they were involved in did not do any outreach to the community and was my experience also and alot of peoples experience in small groups. I do not see in Acts or the NT church where they just sat around in huddles but actively almost like militantly like an army reaching the lost.

    Many years ago I would tell all my Christian friends that the closer we get to the very End days before Jesus returns we will see the "church" who is the believers not a building will return to meeting in homes and eventually have to go underground as in other countries. May God give all of us guidance that are feeling the pull to come out of this organized religious system and lead us to a griuo of believers already meeting. My question is how does a home chirch establish its leaders like the model is set forth in the first churches? As some are given the office of prophet, pastor, overseer, bishop or teacher to shepherd the flock.

      Started our house church three years ago or so. Got started by meeting a guy preaching in a park(not a paid minister type) and a guy from a different local system church who was sick of it.
      If you can provide the space and opportunity God will work. Love Matt but I never did half of what he said in this video. Maybe in a ideal world but most of us out here need to just go with what we got. We are doing great building up the body and making disciples. You will learn as you go. If His spirit is in you start by just sharing the gospel making disciples, the church will just form around you at that point.

    • @KingdomFromHeaven
      @KingdomFromHeaven 10 месяцев назад +1

      @JohnnyG4903 I am so thankful to hear from both ends of the spectrum on this matter. The answer cannot be for us to simply stay in system churches (that are unconcerned with checking these boxes) on and on and on until we can check all of these idealized boxes ourselves. I've done that since 1986, gone to Bible college, studied and prepared daily ever since, and exhausted myself looking for others I can support who are already doing it right. I'm just going to have to just get going with what I've got and trust that others will show up that want some of it, too. I do, however, appreciate the ideal wish list and warnings from experience that this video provides, as well, since we do not wish to simply add another narcissist-led church to the community, either. We will continue to attend the system church (as a Christian activity center) on Sunday mornings while phasing in our house church on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Thank you both for your encouragements.
      Humble people tend to always regard themselves as "not qualified enough" while narcissists sell themselves and their buddies as eminently qualified in all things all of the time. We simply cannot keep forfeiting these important things to narcissists and their artificial hierarchies.

      @@revolutionofordinaries I've heard different views on Romans 14, such as it's speaking of fasting. • @revolutionofordinaries
      @revolutionofordinaries  9 месяцев назад

      @@megnluI don't think it is helpful to reject something just because such and such other group does it. They also gather to assemble. They also believe Jesus is the Christ. You get the idea...just because another group does something doesn't make it the way or not the way...go back to the scriptures. In Romans 14 Paul said it is okay to celebrate special days. That should be enough to not make it a divisive issue.

      @@revolutionofordinaries you don't view the Catholic Church as false? It's the question that, is it honoring God? Also, would it be better for Christians to observe biblical feasts that all point to Christ, rather than holidays that originated in pagan practices. Holidays that the world celebrates as well. Don't know if you will be able to answer. I would seek to have a meeting that introduces people to the Hebrew roots of Christianity, i.e. Michael Heiser, Chuck Missler. These folks made my faith real and strong. We would pray as well. But, listening now to this video, I can see why I have not been able to make this happen, though I have tried for about a year. It does seem that regular churches will face more scrutiny in the coming years - unfortunately, Christians who have been ego-driven, have very much sullied the name of Christ, not been humble or prayerful and people would like to kick their butts. As a female, I would not be teaching, just facilitating. Additionally, I am profoundly lonely, particularly for fellow believers. Lastly, I am not young - not at all fit for battle. Thanks for the guidance and reality check. I did try the email.

    Lots of great and important suggestions.
    Did not understand your use of Luke 10 “man of peace.” From my understanding, that was instructions for the disciples going from town to town about where to live for the time they are in that town (stay with a man of peace or leave that town rather than going from one house to another in the same town, using their hospitality). Are you trying to say it is the house of the “man of peace” where you will hold the church gatherings? If this is not what you meant, then I don’t understand what you are alluding to.

    • @revolutionofordinaries
      @revolutionofordinaries  10 месяцев назад

      The person of peace is a person who is open to the message who is already embedded in the community. Think Lydia in Philippi among many others who could be listed...this concept went beyond Luke 10 and is seen throughout Acts. We see it all over the world today...it is a smart and biblical strategy when you enter an area to start a church to find a local, agreeable person who can trust you and tell others. It makes things move exponentially faster than starting without someone like that. Great question!
