I'm thinking that it may come to pass that the church in the U.S. may have to go underground, similar to what we've seen or heard about in some countries today. I'm not looking to start such a church, but I'm getting a sense that I should start looking for an existing home church. My hope is that in this series where you're addressing the various issues regarding home churches, that you'll be discussing how we go about finding an existing home church in our local community. Not just any home church, but one that shares the same beliefs that I do, one that is spirit filled, the fellowship is welcoming, and everyone is encouraged to participate..
5 Questions: 1. Has God called you to do this? 2. Has God equipped you to do this - doesn’t take a degree. Takes some gifting 3. Has God put others around you to help this happen (accountability and support) 4. Do you have a good understanding of what church is and how what you are doing is church and not just a bible study or fellowship gathering? 5. Ask God to show you the mission field - who is he sending you to reach? What neighborhood? What community? Jesus - pray for workers 5 Prayers 1. Ask God to give you a clear vision if this is what he wants you to do - open door or not - close door 2. Ask God for wisdom (James 1:5) 3. Ask God for support 4. Ask God for biblical foundation 5. Ask God to Show you the Mission Field 5 Specific study: 1. Study a Gospel - get immersed in the Jesus’ life 2. Study Acts 3. Study Paul's letters 4. Study the "one another's" (see link in description) 5. Study the work of the Holy Spirit 5 Specific conversations: 1. Talk with your neighbors 2. Talk with city officials 3. Talk with people while on prayer walks 4. Talk with your family 5. Talk with your immediate neighbors 5 Specific relationships: 1. Personal accountability 2. Discpling relationships 3. Person of Peace 4. Prayer warriors/team on app 5. A teacher/guide

Then the creation of programs galore to keep them there and busy. So it became a ME centered church. If the house church does not correct some of the legitimate criticisms of the bigger church then your just bringing the church building concepts into a smaller house church. It just seemed like we huddled up in small groups or house church but did not do anything in the community and share the gospel. When it comes more about huddles instead of getting rid of self to reach others with the gospel and practical ways and solutions you can serve the community around you then you can easily get caught up in selfishness. Many years ago I would tell all my Christian friends that the closer we get to the very End days before Jesus returns we will see the "church" who is the believers not a building will return to meeting in homes and eventually have to go underground as in other countries. May God give all of us guidance that are feeling the pull to come out of this organized religious system and lead us to a griuo of believers already meeting. My question is how does a home chirch establish its leaders like the model is set forth in the first churches? As some are given the office of prophet, pastor, overseer, bishop or teacher to shepherd the flock.
Thank you for the insight. That made it very clear to me that I am not cut-out to lead a home church. Since I am not a fan of "The Sunday Show" and there are no home churches in my small town, that I am aware of, might you have suggestions for those of us that aren't gifted with leadership?
This may be why you need a partner in this who has strengths where you do not. You can pray for God to raise up a leader or co-leader and pay attention to who God sends your way. God can do anything...I have seen this happen personally.
Yes I have led small groups and/or Christ centered addiction groups before that I would recommend a co-leader with you that helps take the pressure off one person leading it. You will probably burn out fairly quickly if you take it on by yourself. We all have been uniquely gifted by God with Spiritual gifts and passions that is to be used in the body. Its not about one person but the body working together for the glory of God. Amen!
Started our house church three years ago or so. Got started by meeting a guy preaching in a park(not a paid minister type) and a guy from a different local system church who was sick of it. If you can provide the space and opportunity God will work. Love Matt but I never did half of what he said in this video. Maybe in a ideal world but most of us out here need to just go with what we got. We are doing great building up the body and making disciples. You will learn as you go. If His spirit is in you start by just sharing the gospel making disciples, the church will just form around you at that point.

@JohnnyG4903 I am so thankful to hear from both ends of the spectrum on this matter. The answer cannot be for us to simply stay in system churches (that are unconcerned with checking these boxes) on and on and on until we can check all of these idealized boxes ourselves. I've done that since 1986, gone to Bible college, studied and prepared daily ever since, and exhausted myself looking for others I can support who are already doing it right. I'm just going to have to just get going with what I've got and trust that others will show up that want some of it, too. I do, however, appreciate the ideal wish list and warnings from experience that this video provides, as well, since we do not wish to simply add another narcissist-led church to the community, either. We will continue to attend the system church (as a Christian activity center) on Sunday mornings while phasing in our house church on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Don't know if you will be able to answer. I would seek to have a meeting that introduces people to the Hebrew roots of Christianity, i.e. Michael Heiser, Chuck Missler. These folks made my faith real and strong. We would pray as well. But, listening now to this video, I can see why I have not been able to make this happen, though I have tried for about a year. As a female, I would not be teaching, just facilitating. Additionally, I am profoundly lonely, particularly for fellow believers. Lastly, I am not young - not at all fit for battle. Thanks for the guidance and reality check. I did try the email.
Lots of great and important suggestions. Did not understand your use of Luke 10 “man of peace.” From my understanding, that was instructions for the disciples going from town to town about where to live for the time they are in that town (stay with a man of peace or leave that town rather than going from one house to another in the same town, using their hospitality). Are you trying to say it is the house of the “man of peace” where you will hold the church gatherings? If this is not what you meant, then I don’t understand what you are alluding to.
The person of peace is a person who is open to the message who is already embedded in the community. Think Lydia in Philippi among many others who could be listed...this concept went beyond Luke 10 and is seen throughout Acts. We see it all over the world today...it is a smart and biblical strategy when you enter an area to start a church to find a local, agreeable person who can trust you and tell others. It makes things move exponentially faster than starting without someone like that. Great question! More info here - ruclips.net/video/DFpCkmPIzIE/видео.html

Do you have a list of the 5 Questions?
1. Has God called you to do this?
2. Has God equipped you to do this - doesn’t take a degree. Takes some gifting
3. Has God put others around you to help this happen (accountability and support)
4. Do you have a good understanding of what church is and how what you are doing is church and not just a bible study or fellowship gathering?
5. Ask God to show you the mission field - who is he sending you to reach? What neighborhood? What community?
Thank you.
Good questions to reflect on.
Glad it is helpful @@joelkrochalk5067
Where are you located? Do you have a wesite of a network of home churches around the US for those who would like to join a home church? I know there are websites out there and we have checked them out and found there are no home churches near us. We are currently seeking God's direction to start a home church, but we are at the beginning. Thank you.
Good morning Laurie! I am building out a training for those who want to start house churches. If you want to be in the loop, I can add you to the email list. Can you email me and let me know your email? matthewdabbs@hotmail.com and I will get you on the list.
Thank you. I'll send you an email. Hopefully, tomorrow.
(* l ke to saint John church, saint mary church design*), we do to very best .for church, cross is church room's in front of at the wall.Cross is Church's on the top .
Nobody sparked in tounges in our house church. So it won’t look exactly like acts church
I agree each church will look a little different...there are some guiding principles that are helpful but we all have to work this out through prayer, study and relationship.
I don’t believe it has to be this difficult
There is not one way to do it. Just sharing what we are seeing in a way that has due diligence and accountability. When you try to spark people to start, as I am doing, you become very much aware that some weird stuff can spring up. And don’t want to be responsible for that.

Thank you for the scriptures.
Jesus already founded a Church!!! The Holy apostolic Catholic Church.. Jesus is the head you really think he's going to leave his family he promised in scripture that the gates of hell shall not prevail over Her...
Yes he founded the church universal...then we start congregations. It has been this way for 2000 years so I am not sure what your point is. Can you clarify?
Did you know Jesus is the name of a roman sun god who teaches disobedience to God's 10 commandments, break Sabbath, doing 🎃🐰🎅🎄 Babylonian witchcraft,& pork eating. Use Yeshua instead of Jesus.
John 5:42-43
Jeremiah 23
Not sure how this connects with the video.
I don’t sin, this is ridiculous.
What are you trying to say?
